Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on September 11, 2024September 11, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ASTRO WORLD ran second on debut behind subsequent 3 year old 0MWLY victor and sharp filly Gi Gi Pops. Comes into this four weeks between runs which is a slight query but she should get every chance from barrier 1 and historically the rail at True at Bunbury = leaders & fence in run. That’s her. MOMENT IN THE SUN has finished third at both runs so far in his short career and has finished off strongly in both. Improving type. CHEST OUT SWAGGER blew out late first-up but did run the first 600m 5.5L faster than maiden average. SHOOT TO FAME gets back in her races and that’s going to be costly over her career. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ASTRO WORLD WIN RACE 2 VENUS KING should be too classy for these. On debut he sat leader’s back behind Gi Gi Pops and couldn’t go with her when the sprint went on and second-up he sat parked wide throughout in another race that where she dominated from the front. Drops 3kg from a 3 year old 0MWLY into an All Age maiden and looks to have more upside and ability than the vast majority of these. MAID AN OFFER ran a cheeky fourth behind Couldhavebeen, Think Quick and subsequent winner Imarock God at his second start in WA. WHISTLING WARRIOR can be forgiven for last Thursday. LATE FLYER can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 12 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – VENUS KING WIN RACE 3 COSMIC ECLIPSE never travelled the winner first-up and then cut right back towards the inside which probably didn’t help her chances. Willing to suggest that she was run off her legs over 1000m and is better suited second-up over 1200. Following up on a nice trial with a mare who looks to have wins in her. HYPEREAL was in the same part of the track and went just as well, if not better. He’s returned in great order. PEARL KING has looked alright at trials. COUTURE QUEEN went 34 days into her second-up run when only 3L off Desert Whisper, Charino, Hypereal and is again kept fresh. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 13 – 11 Suggested Bet – COSMIC ECLIPSE WIN RACE 4 UNIVERSAL HOTNESS should get every chance to lead and win here. Solid effort down the 1000m straight fresh and then went to 1400m second-up when only run down late after doing a stack of work in the run. Leads this and takes running down. FLASH OF DALLAS is a staying type resuming. Her luckless 1600m maiden effort and then Oaks minor placing looks good form for this. LIL CAPRI may still want further than 1400m but she’ll get every chance from barrier 1 and really caught the eye on debut. RUNAWAY WINSTON trialled well for his return. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 15 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL HOTNESS WIN RACE 5 BEACH PAD put the writing on the wall first-up with a massive effort in defeat behind Trio and then went around favourite (under $3!) in a 0MWLY 1700 when finishing third behind Advanced and Grand Reserve. Got held up marginally on straightening and looks a horse with a lot of raw ability and upside. Back into a C1 and looks the one. MIRO has put in a few dodgy runs here and there but if you go off his second to Covert Rose or his second to Antique Star then he’s the danger. OMERTA GRACE and COULDHAVEBEEN are both impressive last start maiden winners who should measure up. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BEACH PAD WIN RACE 6 ESTIMATOR has been up for a long while (start 10 of the prep) but he continues to race well and this looks an ideal set up for him. 1400 back to 1200 – tick, Bradley Parnham back on – tick, mapped to lead – tick. If the fence is the place to be then he’ll become increasingly popular throughout the day. AUDREY GRACE has a short sprint and needs things to go her way. Will be saved up as long as possible. MILITARY POWER is drawn outside of Estimator and may have to be content to breeze. Racing like 1200m won’t be an issue. MAGNUM CLASS is lacking a killer blow but Michael Lane at Bunbury is lethal. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ESTIMATOR WIN RACE 7 MORE LIKELY has returned bigger and better this preparation. Sat wide throughout first-up when second to Mine Host (since won a C3), sat wide throughout when winning a C1 1400 beating home Lombadina and subsequent winner Trespassing and then finished off well from a rearward position behind Chantel and Zaza Rock (both race Wednesday at Belmont) third-up at a mile. Fit, firing and maps well. SIMPLY THINKIN’ is the most talented horse in the field but is drawn wide and gets back. Will need conditions to suit. GREAT FORTUNE caught the eye at trials and first-up for new trainer David Harrison. BRING THE BLING can come on quickly. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MORE LIKELY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 6,7,9,15 1,2 1,6 1,2,3,5,7,9 Market Market
