Michael Heaton’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 17, 2026June 18, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 COSTA STAR is a 23-start maiden but she’s placed at 3 of her last 4 starts and is getting closer. She should ride the speed again here and this looks a great opportunity for her to break through. ALL KING’S has hit the line well at his first 2 starts for Aaron Pateman on the dirt and he looks the one who will be finishing off the strongest. ORDASHUS joins the high strike-rate yard of Zach Tyler first up and some of his earlier grass form is good enough to play a part this Carnarvon season. AL’S GAL did her best work through the line at York last start and likely finds this a bit easier. Numbers: 6-4-2-9 Suggested Bet – COSTA STAR WIN RACE 2 REINCARNATED joins Aaron Pateman’s stable and has the right pattern for Carnarvon. He looks the only real natural speed in this race so provided he gets away cleanly at his first start on the dirt, he should be able to cross them and prove hard to run down. RIVER BEAUTY was better last start despite laying in and now draws a gate where she should be able to land in stalking distance of Reincarnated. CORNERBACK a watch first up, no trial at his WA debut. SWISHGOBANGO an improver if he’s able to jump better and roll forward. Numbers: 4-7-1-2 Suggested Bet – REINCARNATED WIN RACE 3 CORN COB should make a nice Carnarvon horse. He’s the winner of 12 races and almost $450k and is very well weighted with 58kg after Bailey Webster’s claim having dropped around 18 rating points from his peak. He was solid at his first start on the dirt in Roebourne and should settle prominently in the run. THE COOLAKIN KING was good first up off a long break with 60kg before drawing the outside last start. He can cross to the front in this and bounce back to his best. BIGDAYONIT an improver second start on the dirt and dropping 4.5kg. IRONCLASD BOY went close 2 starts ago before getting back and never being in the hunt last time out. The senior rider who was aboard him in his last win now goes on. Numbers: 1-2-5-6 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN RACE 4 KUNAPIPI has been good at her first 2 Carnarvon starts this season and looks the weighted horse with young gun apprentice Jason Li jumping aboard. She gets 3.5kg and 6kg swings on rivals such as Undercover Sniper from their last 2 encounters which includes beating them home at her last start and she has the speed to roll forward here. WHAT ABOUT MOI was beaten a nose to the in-form Only Us at this track/distance at his first dirt run and now drops in grade. Nice race for him. SWEXAN went back at his first 2 runs in WA which were both encouraging but was able to roll to the top last start and he won well. UNDERCOVER SNIPER is on trial at 1400m and concedes negative weight swings to rivals. Numbers: 7-5-4-3 Suggested Bet – KUNAPIPI EACH-WAY RACE 5 MARS MISSION looks ready to win third-up. He’s run nice placings in consecutive 64+ events, now drops back into a 56+ and gets a considerable 4kg swing on Aardvark for finishing just over 1L second to him last start. He should be able to settle a bit closer in running here and be strong late. INCANDESCENT LADY is a jump-and-run mare carrying only 53kg and she showed a liking for dirt racing last year. AARDVARK won impressively at his first dirt start for Aaron Pateman but now rises 5.5kg to a hefty 63kg impost. SOARING SOLO comes out of the fastest 1000m race of the season so far and has finished in the money at 5 of her 6 Carnarvon starts to date. Numbers: 2-8-1-4 Suggested Bet – MARS MISSION WIN RACE 6 ONLY US is 2 from 2 this preparation and wasn’t entitled to win last start but still got the job done. He looks a progressive type for Carnarvon racing and the step to a mile only suits him better. ALMA MATER is a 19-start C1 but his 2 dirt runs have had a lot of merit to them, he can ride the speed and he meets Only Us a whopping 9.5kg better off from 2 starts back. NEVER SOBER hasn’t fired yet this preparation but now steps up to the more suitable mile and could lead this if they push the button early. DAIYAMONDO is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 2-6-4-7 Suggested Bet – ONLY US WIN RACE 7 SHOOTING KONTIKI scored a strong win last start when recording easily the fastest 1000m time of the season so far. He stays at the same track/grade/distance, rises only 1.5kg and has drawn to land in a perfect position in running again. Hard to beat if the same horse turns up. WEAPONS HOT drops back to 1000m after a runner-up finish over 1200m last start and has importantly drawn inside of Shooting Kontiki which should enable him to lead. GOLD SPY also drops back to 1000m after being a beaten favourite in higher grade last start but he looks destined to get back or do it tough from the outside draw. LIMAHULI a watch at his WA debut for Aaron Pateman. Numbers: 1-4-2-3 Suggested Bet – SHOOTING KONTIKI EACH-WAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5,7 1,2,4,8 2,4,6 1,2,3,4 144 combinations Market Market
