The Scout: EURO 2024 Matchday 9 Posted on June 22, 2024June 22, 2024 | Posted by The Scout Georgia v Czech Republic Despite losing out to Turkey, Georgia earned plenty of admirers and will approach this contest in a similar fashion. Georges Mikautadze scored their first goal at a major international tournament, and he will again partner star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack. Expect another entertaining performance as Georgia look for their first points. The Czech Republic were somewhat unfortunate not to take anything from their clash with Portugal. It took an own goal for them to be pegged back before the winner was scored in the closing stages. Therefore, don’t expect any changes with Patrik Schick up front and West Ham United duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal influential. Goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek was busy against Portugal, making seven saves. Draw Turkey v Portugal Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler proved that the hype is very much real with his wonderful goal in Turkey’s 3-1 win over Georgia. Skipper Hakan Calhanoglu excelled in a deeper role than usual, his wide range of passing on display throughout as he completed 88 of 95 attempts. İrfan Can Kahveci is the only injury absence for coach Vincenzo Montella. Portugal had to come from behind to beat Czech Republic 2-1 and their 3-4-3 formation was far from convincing at times. Cristiano Ronaldo continues to lead the line but offered very little in the game. Changes are unlikely, though Francisco Conceicao’s cameo which included scoring the winning goal will have given Roberto Martinez food for thought. DRAW Belgium v Romania A shock defeat to Slovakia in their opener has Belgium playing catch up. Romelu Lukaku had two goals disallowed and missed some other great chances, as has been the case across his career. Full back Thomas Meunier is still injured; however, veterans Jan Vertonghen and Axel Witsel are options if coach Domenico Tedesco decides to make changes. Romania made people sit up in their seats with their resounding 3-0 win over Ukraine and should go into this game unchanged, although Valentin Mihaila is pushing a spot in the team. Despite having less than 30% possession, Romania’s defence was good and restricted their opponents to just two shots on target. Captain Nicolae Stanciu led by example with his superb strike for the opener and he will be a key player again. Belgium WIN Multi Georgia v Czech Republic – Both teams to score – Yes Bruno Fernandes – Over 0.5 shorts on target Romelu Lukaku to score any time @ 5.50* *Odds correct as at 9am 22nd June 2024.
