Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on March 17, 2023March 17, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OUQBURRA ran well at his return from a let-up behind Queen Tiffany. He finished right alongside rival Bold Prophet in that event and meets him 2kg better at the weights as Brandon Louis has no claim in Geraldton. Kept fresh, drawn better and should run well. EXCHANGE RATE is a 3 year old who is only having his second career start. He lead and was run down on debut at Geraldton and has been tuned up with two solid trials for his return to racing. BOLD PROPHET was attacked at Mingenew. He’s had a lot of racing and a lot of chances but continues to go well. SWEETCHINO finds this a lot easier than recent metro maidens. Big improver. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – OUQBURRA WIN RACE 2 JURUNEA GOLD ran out of chances with Trevor Andrews and has been sent up to Gordon Spowart at Geraldton. He’s looking quite one paced at the moment and isn’t exactly attacking the line with great gusto but considering he’s raced in metro and provincial company his entire career to date he will no doubt relish a drop in grade into a country maiden. Fit and takes on very moderate opposition. ESCALATING is a 21 start maiden but all the runs for Miles Bain have been good. His last two have been luckless yet impressive. CYCLONE PIA should have gone close last start. Had absolutely no where to go in the straight. RANDOM REWARDS ran a cheeky race last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – JURUENA GOLD WIN RACE 3 EDMOND takes on a staying trip for the first time since arriving in WA. He is a proven weight carrier as a winner with 62kg so the weight isn’t a worry, it’s just whether he can run out what is likely to be a strongly run 1900m should Peta Edwards and Brisance look to run them into the ground like he did to his C2 opponents last start. Thinking it will be a similar race to where he ran second to Ciscojoe at Ascot two starts back. Repeat of that sees him very hard to beat. BLUE CHEYENNE is progressive and is making his way through the grades nicely. The way he gunned down Call Again last start suggests he’ll measure up here. BRISANCE is flying all of a sudden. ARMED AND READY is very hard to catch. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – EDMOND WIN RACE 4 IHTS CLOSING INN and DESERT PETARD met in a Geraldton maiden over 1400m on 25 January. IHTS CLOSING INN won the race by just over a length and with the ZJP engagement meets him a whopping 4.5kg better at the weights for beating him home. Drawn to get a lovely run and is racing consistently. DESERT PETARD has clearly improved since that point and should park and ride the speed from the inside draw. MISS EUGEN finds this lengths easier than the Westspeed Platinum that contained form horses Mountain Ash, Birdieagle and Awesome Chatter. SECRET LAIR was a big improver last start. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – IHTS CLOSING INN WIN RACE 5 CHIX CHATTER, ALTERNO and UNI QUEEN met last start and do battle again here. CHIX CHATTER is drawn to get a near identical run in transit and only concedes an extra 1kg to Alterno and 1.5kg to Uni Queen. From the draw he should get every opportunity to prove himself at the end of 1600m. ALTERNO has a set of shades on (replacing Visors). He looked the winner for the entire straight last start but couldn’t quite put them away. UNI QUEEN was having her first start in a couple of months and only faded in the last 50m. Comes on quickly. SPEED BUBBLE steps up in grade but has been going super this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHIX CHATTER WIN RACE 6 POP THE MOET ran them into the ground two starts ago when leading and winning by over a length. Couldn’t get to the fence last start from a middle alley and wasn’t quite the same performance. Should be able to kick through and hold the top here and that could be the difference. MOCHA DREAM was 6.5 weeks between runs from his impressive Geraldton maiden win into his next outing in a C1 at Ascot (due to two postponed meetings in back to back weeks at Pinjarra Park). Now he’s off a 7 day back-up and comes back in trip to 1100m. Just needs luck from a horror draw. JUSTA LIL FAITH has been a marvel since arriving at Julia Martins. COPPING POINTS was excellent last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – POP THE MOET WIN RACE 7 JEANELLA has been placed to perfection by Adam Durrant this campaign. Won a pair of C2 races at Geraldton and a 58+. Last start went to a C5 at Pinjarra and chased hard behind talented front runner Famous Jurney. Enjoys the run of the race from the draw, runs for ZJP and sits in the first few in running. See no reason why she can’t go 4/4 at the Geraldton Turf Club. ORISTANO finished third to Jeanella in January and meets her 3.5kg better for a 1.5L defeat. BE SEATED has 62kg to lump but is the class runner. SUPERLOVE has been great in two runs back. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – JEANELLA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,6,9 1,2,3,5,6,7 1,2,5,7 2,3,5 Market Market
