Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 2, 2022February 2, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOLE IN ONE looks the winner in the opener on a hot Geraldton Thursday. Finished third behind Niigata and Contento Boy on debut, finished third behind O’Lara’s Prince and Paddy’s Art at start two and then finished a narrow second at Mt Barker last start. Looks even better suited out to 1400m. You would imagine CJP heads up to replace Ben Kennedy and picks up an early winner. BIGDAYONIT has the services of Troy Turner which is worth lengths in the region. Logical danger. SURVEILLANCE is one paced and will need things to pan out in his favour. Adrian Tiver will get one out of him. ALLABOUTTHECRAIC next best. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – HOLE IN ONE WIN RACE 2 FINAL AUTHORITY looks poised to give Adam Durrant a race to race double to start the program. Going to butter up after he burnt us on debut. Didn’t handle the straight 5 course at Pinjarra at all but the money for him was relentless in betting. Trialled like a bomb leading into it and from that race on debut Dazzling Dane and Disco Donut have both won since. Should be too good. GLASS OFF is off the 7 day back-up. Loomed last Thursday but didn’t finish off. Back 100m might be a big help. ZULU MAGIC makes her debut for Ryan Hill. He did produce a debut winner in I’m All Miss so keep Zulu Magic safe. MERRI MERIC is a new comer to WA and has run a couple of placings in VIC maidens. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – FINAL AUTHORITY WIN RACE 3 STARTRADE should continue his way to the top of Geraldton racing. Between him and Three Sessions they’ve been the two finds of the season (we already knew Kenyluck was good) and while coming back to 1100m at this stage of his preparation is probably far from ideal it’s another wonderful opportunity to bank some prizemoney before ultimately heading down to Perth. Claim means he only rises 0.5kg and should be too strong late. NURHACI is no slouch and at 1100m is more than capable of causing the upset. Much better suited at the trip than Startrade and is drawn to lead. WILDONBROOK ran out of her skin the Batavia. Could give cheek. DELAGO DEHERO is a trier. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN RACE 4 ADMIRAL HUSON had nothing go right last start. Was well supported in early betting from $2.80 into $1.90 and then couldn’t find the front in a rarity. Once he couldnl’t lead he was in all sorts and faded back noticeably late in the race. This race doesn’t have anywhere near as much tempo and from barrier 2 Lisa Staples can lead and control. Expecting him to bounce back hard because his runs behind Three Sessions were excellent. Jump and run. RUN FOR MONEY was a fresh winner last campaign and while drawn awkwardly can finish off well. GESSATO joins a new stable and ran well in Geraldton last start without much luck. Should be a handy pick up for Kylie Craig. HUMAN NATURE is well placed into these 58+ races by Sean Rains. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – ADMIRAL HUSSON WIN RACE 5 STOCKTAKA is first-up at a mile for Ash Maley. Well worth watching the market with this one because on occasion last campaign Stocktaka was plunged. Taj Dyson kicked home a pair of winners on the weekend to build a bit of confidence and often that’s all these young claiming apprentices need to get on their way. If he can roll to the top he’ll be hard to run down. PRIZE PURSUIT is racing well below his best. With no rider named it’s hard to know where to place him. ROME was a big winner two starts ago and then was only grinding last start. Was racing in restricted room so maybe that’s harsh. OLIVIA KNOWS is a query at a mile but she’s found some form. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – STOCKTAKA WIN RACE 6 HONORFIC has simply been a different horse with the blinkers on. They went on two starts ago and he won by 1.5L and then backed it up to show it was no fluke last start with a simply dominant 3.75L win. Stays in the same grade and actually drops 0.5kg in weight with Sans Le Sou coming into this event. If it is turned into a really testing mile he’ll be last man standing. SANS LE SOU has been a great horse for Midwest Punters over the last few months. She does everything right and she is continually well placed by Gordon Spowart. Hard to beat again. DJANGO DREAM had no right to finish as close as he did last start. Huge effort. BLACK MONEY has been freshened and comes back in trip. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – HONORFIC WIN RACE 7 CHOIX DE LACE went into a 58+ last start and ran a ripper behind Tricky Trix. Backs up off 7 days (winner off 7 previously), drops from a 58+ back into a C2 and is drawn to lead. Ticks plenty of boxes and normally jumps an eachway quote. CORN COB has had a whirlwind preparation and looks an above average type for the region. 3kg claimer off, Troy Turner on. Doesn’t get much better than that. SKIPPING DIGITS was far too good for maiden opposition on debut. Looks another live contender in a competitive race. ELIMINATE finds a new home. Looked like a Saturday horse at one stage with Neville Parnham. Keep safe. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – CHOIX DE LACE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,10 1,3,4 2,4,6,8,9 Market Market
