Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 8, 2021July 11, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 HOWARD HUGHES (9) raced in considerably stronger company last time in and a recent Pinjarra trial win indicates he is in for a good campaign. BETTOR BE OSCAR (3) wasn’t far away when 4th to Gambit at his first run back from a spell and will be hard to catch if he can cross at the start. DISCO UNDER FIRE (1) doesn’t have the class of his two main rivals but will give a great sight from the pole. POCKET THE CASH (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. Tips: 9 3 1 10 Suggested Bet: HOWARD HUGHES (9) to win. Race 2 GAMBIT (8) raced in the Auckland Cup in NZ and proved that was a good form line when facing the breeze and winning here at his WA debut last week. He should be fitter for that effort and can overcome the wide draw again. TYLER BRETT (2) has been unplaced at his four runs back from a spell but will appreciate the better draw and drop in class and should give some cheek. BETTER COPAGOODONE (1) has been placed in his last six starts and should be thereabouts again. BRACKEN SKY (10) looks a place chance at odds from here. Tips: 8 2 1 10 Suggested Bet: GAMBIT (8) to win. Race 3 ALTA BLUES (8) has won three of his last four and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. AL GUERRERO (6) has led throughout at his last two starts and will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. NOTA BENE DENARIO (7) has overcome bad draws to be placed in ten of his last 11 starts and can be in the money again. EUPHORIC MOMENT (1) ran a solid 4th to ALTA BLUES (8) here last week and shouldn’t be too far away from the pole. Tips: 8 6 7 1 Suggested Bet: ALTA BLUES (8) to win. Race 4 BETTOR GET IT ON (1) has recorded four wins and three seconds from her seven starts this time in and the rise in class is offset by the pole draw. ALICE KAY (10) was first-up in the postponed event two weeks back and should be hard to hold out if she sees daylight at the right time. SMOOTH RYE (3) has won six of her last seven starts and is always dangerous with the right run. MISS LIMELIGHT (2) ran a nice 3rd behind two smart mares here last week and will make her presence felt from this draw. Tips: 1 10 3 2 Suggested Bet: ALICE KAY (10) each way. Race 5 YOURE SO FINE (5) crosses the Tasman with a big reputation on the back of a dominant win and two nice efforts in hot fields and appeals as the one to beat. SWINGBAND (1) made a big impression at his debut when leading throughout in 1.54.2 and will give a great sight from the pole. TRICKY MIKI (2) had a chequered run but put up a brave effort when 3rd in the Westbred Classic and looks a major player from his nice draw. WHATARETHEODDS (3) was a strong 2nd in that event and will make his presence felt again. Tips: 5 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: YOURE SO FINE (5) to win. Race 6 EXTREME PRINCE (1) has been unplaced at his past seven starts but is a different horse in front and should lead and prove hard to catch from the pole. BLACK JACK ZAC (10) is drawn to get a lovely run on the pegs and will be dangerous late if he gets the run at the right time. CARRERA MACH (12) warmed up for this first-up run with a nice 3rd in a Byford trial and has a touch of class on his rivals. QTOWN RIP ROARING (2) is drawn to get a nice run near the speed and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 10 12 2 Suggested Bet: EXTREME PRINCE (1) to win. Race 7 CAVEMAN (3) has been racing consistently and has been placed in three of his last four starts. This looks a suitable assignment and he should prove hard to beat from his nice draw. HEEZ OUR PERSEUS (6) couldn’t make ground when wide on the track on Tuesday but has to be considered on his previous form. PLUTONIUM (7) ran a nice 4th on Tuesday in the same race and will be running on strongly. MAJOR ARTIST (2) had to work too hard to find the front at his last start but can be thereabouts with a softer run. Tips: 3 6 7 2 Suggested Bet: CAVEMAN (3) to win. Race 8 SHOCKWAVE (5) has been simply awesome in his two starts back from a spell, the latest a comfortable 1.54.0 victory from the breeze. He is suited by the small field and is clearly the one to beat. MIGHTY CONQUEROR (4) has returned from a spell in career best form and will things interesting if he can find the front in the early stages. TO FAST TO SERIOUS (2) is close to the fastest horse in the state over 400m and can be dangerous with the right run. MAJOR TIMES (6) was a brave 2nd here last week but will need some luck from this draw. Tips: 5 4 2 6 Suggested Bet: SHOCKWAVE (5) to win. Race 9 DONTBESILLYCHILLY (7) has been racing well in stronger company and will appreciate the drop in class here. CHEESE AND BICCYS (4) ran on well to finish a close 2nd to SPORT SPORT SPORT (8) at his debut and should be improved for that experience. CAPTAIN COTE (1) is an improving type who ran a nice 3rd in the same race at his last start and will play a part from the pole. SPORT SPORT SPORT (8) led throughout at his last start but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 7 4 1 8 Suggested Bet: DONTBESILLYCHILLY (7) to win. Race 10 TRICKY RIC (1) has created a big impression with dominant victories in his first two starts in the state. He looks well handicapped and should be winning if he steps cleanly. PRINCESS MILA (7) is back to her best form with two comfortable wins at her last two starts but is giving her stablemate a 50m head start. NO REPUBLIC (2) has won two of his three starts since crossing the Nullabor and looks a major player here. DARK SECRET (5) is a consistent type and can be placed. Tips: 1 7 2 5 Suggested Bet: TRICKY RIC (1) to win. Market Market
