RACE 2 NO.1 DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR

Veteran sprinter DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR is poised to return to the winners list when he runs in the Open Handicap (1200m). The eight year old hasn’t won for 967 days however this is the first time in two years that he hasn’t been racing in stakes company. He will be fitter for his first-up third behind ANCESTRY in the Abell Stakes (1200m) at The Valley on March 13. The Team McEvoy trained gelding should get a comfortable run on the speed, has the benefit of Will Price’s 2kg allowance and appeals as a good bet on the Caulfield program.

RACE 6 NO.6 THROUGH IRISH EYES

The Galilee Series Final (2400m) has brought together a field of handy young stayers and THROUGH IRISH EYES is emerging as a promising stayer in the making. The Maher/ Eustace trained gelding has only had four starts and showed promise in his first three outings however, with the application of blinkers and getting onto a bigger track, the son of Tavistock showed his true staying prowess with a dominant win over 2200 metres at Sale on March 28. He will relish a slightly longer trip, gets the services of elite rider Mark Zahra and looks a great chance of toppling the short priced favourite LIQUERO.

RACE 8 NO.8 WYCLIF

Imported galloper WYCLIF is running into form and looks a strong winning chance when he contests the Benchmark 84 Handicap (2000m). The four year old is now in his second Australian racing preparation and has made strong improvement in recent weeks. His last start 5th behind FLANDERSRAIN over 1600 metres at Mornington on March 20 was full of merit and he looks ready to step up in distance. Significantly, he drops 5.5kg on that run,  looks to be now at peak fitness and represents one of the better bets of the day.
