Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on October 9, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 3 NO.6 WINDSTORM WA visitor WINDSTORM found winning form last time and can continue on his winning way when he runs in the Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m). The four year old took his record to six wins from nine starts with a fast finishing win over 1400 metres at Caulfield on September 26. He is ready to progress to stakes class and seems drawn for a good midfield run. Trainers Grant and Alana Williams have done a fine job with the son of Redoutes Choice who appeals as the best bet of the day. RACE 5 NO.6 BOLD STAR The value runner of the day is BOLD STAR when he runs in the Schillaci Stakes (1100m). The Gordon Richards trained gelding covered a lot of ground yet still finished hard when running 6th in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley on September 25. He drops slightly in grade, will appreciate a slight step up in distance and the likelihood of a drying track all look advantageous to BOLD STAR’S prospects in this race. Champion rider Craig Williams has maintained his association with BOLD STAR who is poised for a big run at each way odds. RACE 10 NO.3 ORDEROFTHEGARTER ORDEROFTHEGARTER is high in the markets for next week’s Caulfield Cup and can consolidate that rating with a win in the Herbert Power Stakes (2400m). The seven year old gained a start in the Cup with a comprehensive win in the Naturalism Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on September 19. He has only had three runs in two years so he is open to further improvement in fitness which is an ominous sign for his rivals in this race. He should race close to the speed making his own luck and that gives him every chance to dominate this race. The Danny O’Brien and Damien Oliver combination have been a lethal force over the past year and appear well positioned to combine for another feature win with ORDEROFTHEGARTER. Market Market
