Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on October 6, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 BILLY RAY was all the rage on debut when he went around a heavily commissioned $1.24 pop. The bubble well and truly burst when he sat leader’s back, pulled Jarrad Noske out of the saddle and then had no answers for Eliminate’s explosive turn of acceleration. He gets a great chance here to bounce straight back. IAN’S SPECIAL was a seriously hot trailer on two occasions and she couldn’t have done much more on debut. Looks the only danger. STRICT RULER hit the line hard at Lark Hill. WORZEL can give them something to chase. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BILLY RAY WIN Race 2 EXCERPT looks well placed back into a 3 year old maiden. Drops 2kg from a 3yo 0MW to a maiden and from the draw should stalk the speed. Expecting the Triple Missile / Celebrity Witness form to hold up and this looks his most winnable assignment to date. LIFE FOR A LIFE can find the top and improve sharply with the senior rider on. HOOVER was a quiet trial and went close to scoring first-up. MASTER MOORE had no luck at trials and kept coming. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – EXCERPT WIN Race 3 BALDERDASH has done nothing wrong all preparation. Versatile type who can race on speed and offspeed and his last two suggest he’s getting mighty close to breaking his duck. Should give a sight in an evenly graded affair. PLAYING UP caught the eye last start and was doing her best work late. With a similar run in transit she’s a winning chance. SOUTHSTAR is honest and simply ran into a Saturday grade horse last start in Home In Five. GOLD MERITS was well supported last start and almost pinched it. Overall time very slow so she was given every mortal hope. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – BALDERDASH EACHWAY Race 4 CELEBRITY WITNESS is a 3 year old filly taking on the older horses so she gets some weight relief on her opponents and looks to be the most talented and progressive horse in the race. Couple those two factors with the perfect draw and her likely position in running and she looks hard to beat. Every time she goes round she looks like she just needs another furlong. RAG ‘N’ BONEMAN should find the top and control the tempo. SPECIAL VIEW was beaten a space on debut but chased hard in a fast run race. TWENTY EIGHT ROCK is knocking on the door. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY WITNESS WIN Race 5 MYSTICAL VIEW won in complete style and dominance on debut. The recent trial was solid on a Soft6 and much like Real Grace last week the 1000m is likely to be on the short side for her but these Cerise and White 3 year olds get better and better with racing and the customary 3 month spell after a debut win is characteristic of Bob Peters better horses. Can overcome a tough map. APPLE SCHNAPPS went into hundreds of blackbooks last start after getting absolutely no luck at any stage. Can settle much closer in this and looks the threat. HE’S ALL MIGHTY draws the inside and has the speed to either lead or box seat with the cutaway on offer. AMASENUS comes back sharply in trip but was a big winner first-up this track/distance. Numbers: 11 – 9 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – MYSTICAL VIEW WIN Race 6 REBEL YELL gets one last chance. Extremely well placed by Lou Luciani and after the claim gets in with only 55.5kg. Obviously best known as a fresh horse but Rebel Yell is a 60+ Gradudation winner and 72+ placed to Carocapo. Has raced in higher grade at 7 of his last 9 and was a m74 rater only 10 months ago. Was deep the trip last start and only faded late. Worth a throw at the stumps at the price considering he should land one out and one back. AWESOME AS continues to race well and she should take up a prominent position from the draw. SAKARYA should nearly cross them from out wide and her best is good enough to lead all the way. CRISTAL DANE will need track conditions to suit but she is flying. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – REBEL YELL EACHWAY Race 7 WITHOUT REASON has really turned things around in the last 2 months. Clearly didn’t appreciate the rain affected tracks in the middle of winter and then since the bar has come off and he has returned to Good tracks and stepped out to a staying distance he has been excellent. Looks very hard to beat in this. ABELDANE has only 52kg and Madi Derrick a huge X-Factor. Horses seem to keep running for her and Abeldane is the kind of horse who could really suit her. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN is no star, but she has a nice turn of acceleration and a perfect gate. AMERISSA will need luck but can stay. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – WITHOUT REASON WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 10 8,11 3,4,6,9,10,12 1,4,11 Market Market
