Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on September 3, 2020September 3, 2020 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MILLWOOD GUCCI (4) worked hard to find the front and was only beaten 8.3m in slick time here last week. This is an easier assignment and she will give a great sight if she can find the top. JUST MAKE MINE DIAMONDS (3) has had the benefit of three runs back from a spell and should be ready to show her best from this draw. BLISSFULABBEY (10) is likely to be shuffled back on the pegs but is racing well enough to be right in the finish with any luck. THEJEWELINHEREYE (1) looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 4 3 10 1 Suggested Bet: MILLWOOD GUCCI (4) each way. Race 2 MISTER BUSHIDO (2) was beaten in a four-way photo finish before running on well from a wide draw when a close-up 3rd here last week. He is better drawn tonight and is clearly the one to beat. BRACKEN SKY (3) crossed from a wide draw when a solid 5th here last week and is much better drawn tonight. STOP THE WATCH (1) has been battling bad barriers and looks a big improver from the pole. A BOY NAMED ROSIE (10) is likely to settle three back on the pegs and can be dangerous from that position. Tips: 2 3 1 10 Suggested Bet: MISTER BUSHIDO (2) to win. Race 3 BAYLAN JETT (1) started at $21 when leading and running a close 2nd here last week. He will be significantly shorter in the market tonight but should lead again and give a great sight. ROBBIE EASTON (3) has a losing sequence of nine starts and has been a beaten favourite in six of those runs, including being unplaced last week as a $1.22 favourite. He won’t be favourite tonight but it won’t be a surprise to see him bounce back. MCARDLES GEM (10) and BETTORSTARTDREAMING (11) have nice trailing draws and should be thereabouts. Tips: 1 3 10 11 Suggested Bet: BAYLAN JETT (1) to win. Race 4 JUSTASEC (1) has won nine of his 14 career starts and looks hard to beat at his first run this time in. He hasn’t trialled but should lead and prove hard to catch. MY CARBON COPY (4) was held up for a run when 5th in a stronger field here last week and looks to map well tonight. MACHS GOLD (10) should enjoy a lovely run on the leaders’ back and looks a great place chance. GEE JAY KAY (5) will have to do all of the work again but has been placed at his last three starts after similar runs and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 4 10 5 Suggested Bet: MACHS GOLD (10) each way. Race 5 WILDWEST (1) showed plenty of ability but not a lot of tractability in his first-up win. He goes up considerably in class but that is offset by the draw and he is the one to beat. GALACTIC STAR (12) is the proven performer of this field who recorded a soft all-the-way win last start and can overcome the backline draw. IDEAL LINER (3) hasn’t quite returned to his best form but can play a part from this barrier. AS HAPPY AS LARRY (6) is first-up but has the gate speed to make things interesting if he does go forward at the start. Tips: 1 12 3 6 Suggested Bet: WILDWEST (1) to win. Race 6 HOWARD HUGHES (7) has won nine of his 12 career starts and has resumed from a spell with three effortless victories. He goes up in class for this assignment but still looks to have his opposition’s measure. UNDERCOVER MAC (9) has impressed in winning four of his five starts this time in but the draw hurts his chances of beating the favourite. DIAMOND LIFE (2) has been placed in two of her last four starts and can play a part from this draw. IM JOHNNY JET (1) finished 2nd to Galactic Star from this barrier recently and can be placed. Tips: 7 9 2 1 Suggested Bet: HOWARD HUGHES (7) to win. Race 7 OUR ALFIE ROMEO (9) has produced three solid efforts but has been unable to win this time in. She is drawn wide again but should be right in the finish. SPACE JUNK (1) was a comfortable all-the-way winner here at his last start and will be hard to catch if he holds up at the start. CARTER MICHEAL (7) was well driven to win here last week and will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. THEREUGO (3) wasn’t suited when caught in the breeze here last week but will give some cheek if he crosses at the start. Tips: 9 1 7 3 Suggested Bet: OUR ALFIE ROMEO (9) to win. Race 8 QTOWN RIP ROARING (10) was backed into favouritism last week but didn’t see daylight in the last lap. He will be a lot better price tonight and should provide each way value. CAPTAIN MANNERING (6) chased home Howard Hughes in a 55.5 last half on Monday and will appreciate the drop in class tonight. TUAS DELIGHT (5) has finished near the rear at his last four starts but can improve against this line-up. SIGHTSEEING ANVIL (4) has been freshened up since disappointing at his last start and can give a sight if he leads. Tips: 10 6 5 4 Suggested Bet: QTOWN RIP ROARING (10) each way. Race 9 IN THE VALLEY (2) has won two of his last four starts and was a narrow 2nd to Always A Dreamer at last start. He has a significant handicap advantage over his main rival and looks the one to beat. MR SUNDON (10) is the class trotter of the field and is capable of overcoming his 50m handicap if he can get into the race at the right time. DARK SECRET (6) has been placed in ten of his 13 starts this time in and should be thereabouts again. TAIMATE ANGUS (1) had excuses when a beaten favourite at his last start and has the pole. Tips: 2 10 6 1 Suggested Bet: IN THE VALLEY (2) to win. Race 10 NEWSY (4) has impressed in winning all three of her race starts. She faced the breeze when a strong winner here at her last start and looks the one to beat. ARMA EINSTEIN (7) carried a flat tyre when 3rd to Newsy last start and looks the obvious danger. CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (1) has done things wrong in both runs but looks to have ability and should play a part if she does everything right. BETTOR BEACH BELLE (2) has good gate speed and will give them something to catch if she finds the front. Tips: 4 7 1 2 Suggested Bet: NEWSY (4) to win. Market Market
