Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 9, 2026October 9, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 ONEMORETWOMANY ran third beaten three quarters of a length by ORACLE SON at the opening meeting at Geraldton 11 days ago. With the engagement of Tara Atherden and the weight penalty there is a 4.5kg weight swing in favour of ONEMORETWOMANY to try and turn the tables. He’ll be fitter second-up, she’s drawn to get a gun run and think with that big weight pull he can get the job done. ORACLE SON had lost his way and lost a stack of ratings points. After winning a C5 1000 he went to a peak metro rating of m72 and then in his first-up run for Mark Bairstow had gone right back down to a c65. Great to see him back to his best. DIVINE INANNA will find this lengths easier than running into a now 66+ winning Hurricane Harley. Loves Gero. GOLD KEEPER was disappointing first-up. Straight to shades. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – ONEMORETWOMANY WIN Race 2 DIVER DAN had his WA debut in a C1 and was annihilated in betting. He was $7.50 into $3.60 in a seriously spirited betting move. Never looked the winner at any stage but still was beaten under 2L in a C1 and carries the same weight here in a maiden. Must respect the amount of money that came for him in that race. IL BELLO BEALS just looms without really threatening. He’s now 0/25 overall and more concerningly 0/23 at Geraldton. Crazy that he’s from one of the highest strike rate yards in the region and has a positive racing pattern and yet still continues to find one or two better every time they take him to the races. Enigma. ANDERSHINE did a fair few things wrong on debut and should take plenty from it. BESTON STREET blew out late first-up no trial at 1400. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – DIVER DAN WIN Race 3 JUST PETTY CASH should be going really close here. She resumed in a maiden at Pinjarra on the Scarpside when beaten 5L by Vienna Calling (now C1 placed), Oscars No Grouch and Rocking in Vegas and then backed it up with a second-up placing to Secret Planet. Comes into this off a 7 week freshen with a strong 2.5L barrier trial win in between and should land close handy in a race where most of them have plenty of convictions. BLACK IRISH ran well at the opening meeting but is a really one paced staying type. May need to take off again and try to out stay them with a sustained run from the back. MR UNIVERSE finds this easier than running into Truly Loyal or American Image or Western Jet. DIAMAS found the 1100 too short and sharp fresh. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – JUST PETTY CASH WIN Race 4 (Best Bet) TRULY GALLANT resumed in a 55+ at the opening meeting and from the outside gate found himself settling last of the 10 runners. Thought he did a solid job to close the gap to a 4L margin late after coming extremely wide on the corner in a race that contained far more quality and depth than this. Drops in grade into a C2, far better suited at 1400m and proved himself a weight carrier last campaign. He’ll have to lump the 61.5kg but this is a really nice race for him on paper. ALDEZOR is his stablemate and he won well at his WA debut. This is definitely harder but he’s drawn to get all the favours. COSMIC ECLIPSE ran well at Pinjarra two back in a 46+ behind Military Jane. She’s best saved up for one run late so the wide draw doesn’t worry her. LE TROY gave some cheek last start back onto the grass when leading. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – TRULY GALLANT WIN Race 5 ENCOSTA DE MONEY was really good at his return to racing. At the end of his initial preparation as a 3 year old he led and won a 1619m maiden but he returned bigger and better and more importantly much sharper at the opening meeting when leading and winning a C1 1200. In for a good prep and doesn’t need to lead this race to win. SILVER LIVIA was scratched from a winnable race on Thursday at York to save for this. After leading and winning on debut at Northam she was thrown straight into the deep end into a Westspeed on a Saturday and wasn’t disgraced beaten 4L. Finished her prep in a C3 at Northam when showing some versatility, getting home from nearly last on the corner. Hasn’t raced for over a year and got quite tired late in her trial. VERSAILLE is speedy but looks destined to at best breeze? CLEVER COMBAT ran some cheeky races here and there last season. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ENCOSTA DE MONEY WIN Race 6 IN SITU will progress through the grades and make his way back to Perth at some stage. He had two runs last preparation and was below his best, but still finishing 5.5L behind Ourgirlcanrun (beat Western Empire in a trial on Monday at Lark Hill…) in a 3 year old Plate isn’t a bad effort. Strong win first-up, should only be fitter second-up and has the speed to overcome a tricky alley. GILES ran second to him on Opening Day and gets a 1kg weight swing and a barrier advantage as he tries to turn the tables. CATCH CARTER will come out running and is more than capable. C3 / C5 placings at Pinjarra/Belmont more than measure up to a 58+ at Gero. LUCKEE FLORAN went to a new level last year when the blinkers went on and trialled really well for his return. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – IN SITU WIN Race 7 SHOOT TO FAME trialled recently at Lark Hill and ran second to emerging Black Type sprinting mare Like Clockwork (races against Bassett Hound at Ascot on Saturday in a 72+ 1000). She’s a model of consistency and on the 7 week freshen with a tick over trial in between looks to have found a winnable race at Geraldton. Sat in the breeze at Kal three back so doesn’t need to get that far off them from the draw and there’s a few older horses in this that are on their mark. BLOOD SAINT is only 1 from 16 but coming up into this grade gives them the opportunity to engage the services of a senior rider. Great run behind Encosta De Money first-up and we’ll see that form on show in Race 5. CANTILEVER can roll to the top and march them along. BAYHARA was never going to figure first-up at 1100. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHOOT TO FAME EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,5 1,2,3 2,3,6,7 3,5,9
