Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 3, 2020September 7, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ENDURING MOMENT has had absolutely no luck so far this preparation. First-up was heavily commissioned and then sat three deep the trip outside the leader. Second-up again caught deep in a race which has really held up as a maiden form reference (Nurhaci and Uncanny Timing breaking through since) and at his most recent was held up until the race was all over. Chris Parnham on a huge plus and looks primed for a 1400. WARDIAN is new and raw and extremely green. She’ll get back and be doing her best work late. YAMATAI was given every mortal hope last start in a maiden run 7L slower than average. Should be right in the finish again. BALDERDASH can settle much closer from the good draw. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – ENDURING MOMENT WIN RACE 2 DOM TO SHOOT and ELIMINATE clash in an exciting look towards the Ascot Summer Carnival. DOM TO SHOOT could not have been more impressive at trials gunning down Pablo’s Poem in second gear and ELIMINATE showed a brilliant turn of acceleration up the cutaway on debut when making Peters spruik horse Billy Ray look second rate. Both are likely to get back in running and there shouldn’t be much between them. Siding narrowly with DOM TO SHOOT but expecting ELIMINATE to make her presence felt. STARFIELD IMPACT will chase hard. INDIGO BLUE trialled particularly well at Lark Hill. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – DOM TO SHOOT WIN RACE 3 CHATTER SESSION took a few runs to find her feet this preparation but since being stepped out in trip has really hit form. Her last two wins have been excellent and both read up well for a moderate Westspeed 0MW race. This is no tougher than C3 fillies and mares company and the way she is going she’ll land one out and one back and take beating. Look very few legitimate dangers on paper and is a case of in-form vs out of form. OVERTHOUGHT missed the start badly last time out and did a super job to get as close as she did in the finish. If she jumps cleanly she can sit in the first 4 in a race devoid of speed. STELLA ANNE might find herself in front by default. FRIAR’S FANTASIA put in a better run at Pinjarra. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHATTER SESSION WIN RACE 4 LEADING GIRL and LONSDALE LADY clash again, this time at 1600m. LEADING GIRL gains the services of a very inform Chris Parnham and coupled with a 1.5kg weight swing could well be enough for her to turn the tables. Peaked on the run in the last 50m after letting down powerfully from the 400 to the 200 and should be ready to fire third-up. LONSDALE LADY will be looking to lead but wasn’t that quick to step first-up. Big difference for her if she leads or has to box seat. Highly talented mare who can continue through the grades. ACONITE and ARAGAIN are both mares in form who will track the speed. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – LEADING GIRL WIN RACE 5 MONTELENA is blasting her way through the grades and there isn’t any reason why she won’t continue on her merry way. Stepped into 72+ grade last start and recorded a career best figure. She is getting better and better into the preparation and is capable of doing it on speed or off speed. Looks destined to justify a short quote and announce herself as a genuine Cups horse. BURNING PRIDE is headed for the traditional annual Kalgoorlie race round and is in form at the right time. Great pick up ride for Alan Kennedy. NOIR DE RUE can lead a race without any speed. PRIZE CATCH gets some weight relief and chased hard last time out. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MONTELENA WIN RACE 6 VITAL SILVER is astutely placed into this 78+ capped top weight feature. He is coming out of Group 1 company and should be carrying a lot more than his 62kg allocation in a fair handicap. Resuming first-up no trial has been the Pearce brothers go-to move for the last few campaigns and his last eight starts have been in Group or Listed company. He is the class runner and sure to go close. BELTER hasn’t won for a long time now but flies fresh and will give them something to run down. MONEY MATTERS might be looking for further at this stage of the preparation but maps to enjoy a perfect run forward of midfield. JERICHO MISSILE will have last crack at them. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – VITAL SILVER WIN RACE 7 WAR GOD broke back into the winner’s enclosure last start and this is another wonderful ride for Chris Parnham who could have another big day at Belmont. This race is no deeper than his most recent when beating Position of Power, Serenity Bay and Not To Be Mist. Maps to enjoy a midfield run in a race with a stack of speed and historically once he hits form he holds it. REGAL COUNSEL has a senior rider on for the first time in the campaign and finally draws a gate. Finished within 2.5L of Red Can Man and Pyms Royale in this grade last campaign. UTGARD LOKI won 3 races in his first preparation with JT Warwick and burst onto the scene. Trial was solid and draw is perfect. MOSCHARD concedes them a head start but ran well fresh at 1000m. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – WAR GOD EACHWAY RACE 8 EEYORE WAYZ has come back bigger and better this preparation and Misty Bazley has him humming. First-up win with 60kg was arrogant in a lowly C1 but then last time out was almost the win of the meeting when dropping a gear down the centre to gun down Weaponson and Route Eighty Eight, who both made the form look good behind This’ll Testya. Steps to 1200m which should be even more to his liking. INDIAN CHANT has won 5 races since joining Peter Fernie and the Goldrush is arguably a stronger race than this Graduation. GRAND DESIGN draws a gate and has the gate speed to utilize the draw. Knocking on the door. DEVOTED STAR needs luck but hit the line well last time out. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – EEYORE WAYZ WIN RACE 9 SUGAR CAIN backs up off 7 days from a high rating 66+ where she was simply run into the ground. Is a winner off the back-up and gets considerable weight relief with the engagement of Laqdar Ramoly. These staying races can throw up a result and she should be just about ready to put in a good one. UNCLE LINO is fool proof as an eachway investment. Rolls to the top and is always fighting out the finish. FREEDOM BY CHOICE was a surprise winner last start but sustained a big run from the 1000m and is a proven stayer. THROWDOWN backs up and reunites with Chris Graham who rode him a treat two starts ago. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SUGAR CAIN EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,4,6 1,4,6,8,12 1,3,4,5,6,7 1,2,3,10,12 Market Market
