Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on October 18, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 2 NO.3 PRETTY BRAZEN PRETTY BRAZEN has always been a filly of considerable talent and can continue on her winning way when she tackles the 3YO Fillies Plate (1400m). The Tony McEvoy trained galloper returned to her best with a stunning win over 1300 metres at Bendigo on September 26. She looks well graded in this company and only needs reasonable luck from the outside draw to record her third win in eight career starts. On a tough program, PRETTY BRAZEN appeals as one of the better bets of the day. RACE 4 NO.9 MIAMI BOUND Whilst several of the Derby aspirants contest the Caulfield Classic, the current Oaks favourite MIAMI BOUND should prove hard to beat against the males. The daughter of Reliable Man scored two impressive wins before running a solid third behind MANHATTAN MAID in the Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on October 5. She raced close to the speed from an inside draw in a race that advantaged the run-on horses. With the benefit of that run and a quieter rider, MIAMI BOUND is well placed to return to the winners list and looks a good bet on the program. RACE 10 NO.7 POHUTAKAWA The Tristarc Stakes (1400m) looks a very competitive race for the mares with several winning chances, however POHUTAKAWA looks ready to peak following two runs back from a spell and should prove hard to beat. The four year old ran a strong second behind HAUT BRION HER in the Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 5. The James Cummings trained mare was Group one placed last preparation illustrating her class and any rain during the day would be a bonus for her chances. Market Market
