Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on October 17, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 RED CAN MAN has come back to racing extremely well this campaign. Win at Northam was authoritative in slick time and then he breezed and won impressively at Belmont. Sits outside of likely leader Boomtastic and should prove too classy. BOOMTASTIC won her maiden well and should get it relatively soft. KAY CEE has an abundance of ability but is unlikely to be suited Saturday. BORN TO TRY has done nothing wrong in 3 career outings but this is harder. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – RED CAN MAN WIN Race 2 GILLESPIE has had no luck all campaign and last week was forced to tramp three deep the trip and kept coming bravely. Backs up off 7 days and should be able to find the breeze for Noske. He can finally break through for win number 2. BEDOUINE BELLE was strong up the cutaway first-up in a 3 horse field behind Drinkwhatyoulike. If she gets in she’ll be in the mix. PINK ‘N’ GRAY was stopped in his tracks last week. SIR MAMBO is ultra consistent and should be afforded every chance from the draw. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – GILLESPIE EACHWAY Race 3 PRETTY STYLE should have this race run to suit her. She is a speedy filly resuming off the back of two impressive 400m jump outs. She naturally lands outside of Copper Fury who is very suspect in the final furlong. She should have a decent head start over Massimo and looks very hard to beat. MASSIMO is the logical danger and has huge raps on him from an astute yard. He will concede a genuine 1000m horse a head start on a hot day at Ascot with an easterly. KING’S AUTHORITY is finding it hard to win. SPIRIT AND FIRE improved back to 1000m. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRETTY STYLE WIN Race 4 LADY SASS was big winning first-up in a midweeker which has proved a solid form reference and then last weekend was never a big winning chance on paper when dealt the outside gate in a moderate speed race. From the better draw she can position midfield and should be winning this. HARRY THOMAS has been knocking on the door recently and should get every opportunity to lead and walk. VINTAGE STOCK does not win out of turn and finds traffic most outings. HYPERSPACE was good three starts ago chasing Cockney Crew. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 12 – 10 Suggested Bet – LADY SASS WIN Race 5 COCKNEY CREW posted an 8L victory first-up which returned a figure ~4.5L above benchmark. He then upped the ante last time out when setting a speed almost 5L above benchmark and was nailed on the line. He can sit outside or just off Beaucount and bounce back to the winner’s enclosure. SLICED BREAD is improving into the campaign and looks like he will stay. Should be in a nice position forward of midfield. DARK PROSPECT was racing well at Kalgoorlie and drops in trip. JEDAFFAIR has won two on the bounce but draws to do it tougher here. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – COCKNEY CREW WIN Race 6 SPILLINOVA finally finds a race where he can lead and control without being attacked or pressured early. He has been excellent at all three runs this preparation and his Ascot form is arguably better than his Belmont form. Hard to run down. ONE SHORT is dynamite fresh. He usually produces a run 3 to 4 lengths better than his average rating first-up and draws to sit on the back of Spillinova. REGAL COUNSEL is holding form really well. PLATOON may find the 1400 just a touch sharp for him. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SPILLINOVA WIN Race 7 FABERGINO should cross both Flirtini and Molten in the early stages and she has won her last three first-up no trial. She absolutely burns the turn when fresh and sections suggest the faster Knuckey lets her run the better it’ll be. FLIRTINI trialed like she is in for a very fruitful preparation. Always shown above average ability and can take the next step. STAGEMAN was big in the Birthday Stakes and maps to sit three back the fence in a fast run race. ELECTRIC LIGHT is a quality mare resuming. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – FABERGINO EACHWAY Race 8 MAN BOOKER was probably the most impressive win of the entire Belmont Season when saluting in the Birthday Stakes first-up no trial. Should only improve for the outing and draws a gate. Brilliant pick up ride for CJP and expecting him to retain his Northerly Crown. THE VELVET KING was huge in defeat last weekend and from the draw Pateman can take a sit on Great Shot who normally rolls off the fence in the straight. PERFECT JEWEL was an unforgettable run in last year’s Railway and trialed well. GREAT SHOT gets very few suitable races on the Calendar with his rating, this is one, Numbers: 2 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAN BOOKER WIN Race 9 DANCE MUSIC is the winner of 6 from 7 and all 6 of those wins were at least 2.5L above benchmark. She is capable of continuing on through the grades and making Black Type very soon. This race has an absolute abundance of speed and on paper it looks like Azzopardi will land one out and one back. IN LOVE WITH PARIS has been hard to follow but the shades might give him a bit. TINSNIP is the 2 year old of the year resuming but looks like being in a lot of traffic. CAROCAPO box seats and is a quality animal. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – DANCE MUSIC WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,12 3,8,9 2,7 3 Market Market
