Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on January 11, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 4 NO.2 O’TAUTO O’TAUTO is a progressive type from the Greg Eurell stable that will be fitter for one run back from a spell and looks the one to beat when he runs in the 3YO Benchmark 70 Handicap (1400m). The son of O’Lonhro resumed with a solid second behind POISED TO STRIKE over 1200 metres at Flemington on December 22. He was strong through the line on that occasion suggesting the extra distance of this race looks ideal. He is drawn for a good run and hall of fame rider Damien Oliver takes the mount which all points to O’TAUTO recording his second career win from just four starts. RACE 5 NO.3 MASCULINO MASCULINO is enjoying another fruitful campaign and appeals as the one to beat again when he contests the Open Handicap (2000m). The four year old recorded a brave win over 1720 metres at Flemington on December 15 before a solid second behind AL GALAYEL over 2040 metres at Moonee Valley on December 29. He returns to his favourite track this time and has never missed a place in four starts at this distance. Talented apprentice Zac Spain partnered with MASCULINO for two wins over the winter months and renews his association with the son of Smart Missile. He’s a reliable middle distance horse that should prove hard to beat again. RACE 7 NO.7 ORDER OF COMMAND ORDER OF COMMAND has developed into a straight track specialist and looks a strong winning chance again when he tackles the Open Sprint (1100m). The Danny O’Brien trained gelding has recorded wins at Flemington at his past two starts, firstly in the Grand Handicap (1100m) on November 10 before freshening up to win at Benchmark 84 class over 1000 metres on December 22. He has built the impressive record of four wins and four placings from 10 starts to date and has won 3 of his 5 outings over 1100 metres. Whilst this is a tougher test, ORDER OF COMMAND is progressing well and drops 3kg on his last run with Damien Oliver maintaining the ride. It’s a good race but ORDER OF COMMAND can win again.
