WA Racing Snippets Posted on September 18, 2018September 18, 2018 | Posted by Julio Santarelli YEAH DARDY Disappointing news for Yeah Dardy who has been ruled out of the Hannans Handicap in Kalgoorlie after dislocating a bone in his fetlock. Trainer Justine Erkelens believes the untimely injury could have occurred during last Saturday’s Farnley Stakes at Belmont when he shifted out noticeably at the turn. No surgery is required, but he will spell in the paddock for a month. OLIVER’S TRAVELS Oliver’s Travels is also a Hannans casualty and in the paddock after he was found to be lame on the eve of the Farnley Stakes. Coming off a top summer and autumn campaign, very little has gone right for the Saxon gelding since his return. He ran second-last first-up in the Belmont Newmarket and filled the same position in the Idyllic Prince Stakes. DREAM LIFTER Jim Taylor has called time on the career of 9YO Dream Lifter, who ran his final race in the Farnley Stakes (1400m) last Saturday. The bay gelding, predominantly prepared by Paul Hunter in Albany, was plagued by feet issues in a consistent career. Dream Lifter won eight races, including the Listed Cyril Flower Stakes and ran 13 placings from 33 starts with stake earnings of $501,000. LORDHELPMERUN Steve Wolfe said he couldn’t be more delighted with the performance of Sires’ champion Lordhelpmerun, who worked home nicely to defeat Salorsci and Disposition in a 1000m trial on Monday. Wolfe says the TABtouch 3YO Classic over 1000m at Bunbury on October 13 is the likely return for Lordhelpmerun. DISPOSITION Michael Gangemi was just as happy with Disposition and believes the Reset gelding had plenty up his sleeve. Disposition will launch his Ascot carnival ambitions in the Listed Birthday Stakes (1200m) at Belmont on October 6. Disposition, a recent pick-up for the Chris Gangemi stable, has not raced since the Railway Stakes (1600m) last year. CARNARVON Peta Edwards had double reason to celebrate at the completion of the Carnarvon racing season on Saturday. Edwards, who steered home Speed ‘N’ Reef in the Carnarvon Cup, also claimed honours as Jockey of the Year. Other award winners were Graeme Hammarquist, Trainer of the Year, Jade McNaught, in her first season of riding, Apprentice of the Year and Portrait Lao, Horse of the Year.
