Greg Hooper’s Ascot Saturday Preview Posted on May 19, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 Tricky start to the day with a number of first starters and horses resuming from a spell. SALUBRIOUS ran well in both starts in his first campaign and has trialled in super fashion for his return. He should park right on the speed and give a big sight. LOB CITY won her only start in style and was asked for little in a recent trial. TOROTEIJA and FROSTY BAY have both trialled well for their returns. Numbers – 2 – 1 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – SALUBRIOUS AND LOB CITY RACE 2 DAINTY TESS has been in super form this campaign without saluting. She again has a big weight and a draw to overcome however if she can get one off the fence she goes close. KARLAKEE MISS was a dominant winner over this trip in midweek grade. She can lead or camp. INVINCIBLE WARRIOR was a dominant debut winner before pulling up lame at his second starts. He was asked for little in a recent trial. MANTIME sits off the speed and finds the line. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – DAINTY TESS AND KARLAKEE MISS RACE 3 DELICATE MISS is bursting to win a race. From gate 1 she can lead or be dangerous taking a sit. UNIVERSAL MOON won a similar race to this before going for a freshen-up. MR MOTOWN was caught wide and battled on solidly last week. TENTERDEN has strong place claims again. Numbers – 1 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – DELICATE MISS WIN RACE 4 RAGNAR’S SAGA is a lightly raced type who is only having his third run and for his third trainer. However he is loaded with ability and his trial indicated he should be cherry ripe for his return. CAPTIVATED POINT has been putting on a clinic at his home track in Albany. He can measure up in town. METEROID is a quality mare who can park right on the speed. DISCO METAL attacked the line fresh and the blinkers go on. Numbers – 12 – 8 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – RAGNAR’S SAGA WIN RACE 5 DARK MUSKET should be ready to peak and the engagement of Jarrad Noske is a big plus. VERDELLO BLUE loves the sting out of the track. Leading and dictating he can be hard to catch. COLEUR BIZARRE is a major chance again. PUSH TO PASS was a strong winner over the 1800m and should appreciate the distance rise. Suggested – 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – DARK MUSKET WIN RACE 6 PROFIT STREET has returned to racing in sparkling order. He was huge in his first-up win and then ripped home his final furlong at his most recent start. If he is within striking distance turning he can gobble these up and race clear. JUS ACT NATURAL dictating terms upfront looks the main danger. BLACK DYNAMITE resumes with the benefit of two trials. He is two from two on rain affected going. SHADY GRAY next. Numbers – 3 – 5 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – PROFIT STREET WIN SuperPick - Race 6 No. 3 PROFIT STREET - Money Back – Run 2nd RACE 7 This looks a superb running of the Roma Cup with quality from top to bottom. BATTLE HERO won the race last year (at Belmont Park) and off his first-up run in the Northam Stakes he can make it back to back victories. He should get the sweet run behind the speed and be ready and be ready to pounce on straightening. ROCK MAGIC is all quality. He’s back from a hit and run eastern states mission where he ran a super fourth at Group 1 WFA. If he produces his peak he probably just wins. CAIPIRINHA takes on the older horses for the first time. She’s a classy filly and will look the winner somewhere. MILITARY REIGN a blowout hope if the track becomes real rain affected. Numbers – 5 – 3 – 16 – 15 Suggested Bet – BATTLE HERO AND ROCK MAGIC RACE 8 Wide open finish for the final race at Ascot for the season. The Albany trained DR SKYES has very good at both starts at Pinjarra before getting a soft kill at his home circuit. Think he can measure up and run a race at odds. Little between TONKATUFF and TYCOON TARGET as their last start clash suggested. BY DECREE next best. Numbers – 6 – 4 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet – DR SYKES WIN Bet Now
