Doomben 23 January – Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on January 22, 2016January 22, 2016 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Tips RACE 2 No.9 Liberation Barry Lockwood trained galloper who returned a winner at the Sunshine Coast first up and has put in a couple of very solid efforts since with the latest of those being a gallant 4th last Saturday at the same track. Lumped the 59.5kg and had to go back from a wide gate, made good ground in the straight however the weight and effort told late. Drawn to gain a better run over a suitable further trip tomorrow with less weight, looks the one to beat. RACE 3 No.5 Mandryka Promising staying type who has really turned the corner since being stepped up in distance his last three starts. He’s won races at 1600m, 2240m and back to 1625m last time out when bolting in by over 3 lengths at Toowoomba. Most of his opposition tomorrow have reached their peak already whilst this one is still very much on the way up. Can measure up and win. RACE 7 No.2 Tina Melina Tony Gollan trained mare racing in career best form. She was a strong finishing winner at the Gold Coast on Boxing Day running down Eloping before having no luck in the straight at the same track on Magic Millions day when winding up third. She does rise sharply in the weights tomorrow however from the inside draw Jim Byrne will give here an economical run throughout. She can return to the winner’s circle. Best Bet: Race 3 No.5 Mandryka Best Value: Race 7 No.2 Tina Melina Quaddie: 2, 5, 7, 9 / 1, 2, 3, 4 / 2, 10 / 2, 4, 9 Bet Now
