Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on January 16, 2024January 16, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 SHINY NEW DEAL didn’t have much luck when well backed on debut and looks hard to beat. YAHOO BAR was narrowly beaten on debut, that from through that race has held up well and he should appreciate 1400m. FOLLOWING SEA has jumped out well to resume gelded with blinkers on. MAGIC DEFENSE was held up at a crucial stage on debut and worked home well when she finally got clear. Selections: 6,7,1,8 Suggested Bet: Shiny New Deal to win Race 2 Competitive race despite the small field. SINGLE ‘N’ READY hit the line strongly at Flemington first up and looks suited stepping up to 1300m. SURPRISE VALLEY make her own luck. She will strip fitter for her impressive first up victory and will not be disadvantaged if the rain arrives. KNUCKLBONES looked good when winning as favourite on debut and that form will be tested in the previous race. DONEGAL has jumped out well to kick off her second prep after her debut win. STEELY HUSTLER won well last start and will ride the speed. MISS TALLCHIEF didn’t have much luck behind a smart one last time. Selections: 4,1,3,5 Suggested Bet: Small win bet Single ‘n’ Ready Race 3 PIA MIA may have had the pattern to suit last start but will make her own luck and looks hard to beat again. AMIGO resumed gelded with a solid win and may appreciate being kept to these shorter trips. ODE TO JOY won well first up and that form held up ok at Flemington last Saturday. STARLACCA may need some luck from the inside draw but stormed home to break her maiden in impressive style last start. Selections: 7,1,5,8 Suggested Bet: Pia Mia each way Race 4 REDDIVO has been going well in similar races and ran this trip out strongly last start. APACHE THUNDER got strung up behind tiring horses in the same race as Reddivo last time. He was a short-priced favourite behind Reddivo two starts back and gets blinkers off. OMEO is racing consistently and shaping as though 3000m will suit. BORDER LEICESTER and DUNWOODY have claims. Selections: 6,9,8,3 Suggested Bet: Reddivo each way Race 5 ANOTHER WIL looks promising and ran well against the bias at his last run before a break. He has jumped out in good style to resume at a suitable trip. MAGARTEN is another horse with upside and will strip fitter for an encouraging return. BOLD MANNER looks the other main hope, she’ll strip fitter third up and had no luck in the home straight last time. Selections: 3,6,4,5 Suggested Bet: Another Wil to win Race 6 AIMING got carted off the track on the home turn last start and looks well placed dropping in grade from the inside draw. THE NEGOTIATOR had excuses at his latest run, he’ll strip fitter third up and gets blinkers off. NISHINO CRESCENT will have derived benefit from her encouraging first up run and will appreciate stepping up to 1800m. TAHLEQUAH will be close to her top third up, she’s racing consistently and also gets blinkers off. Selections: 9,2,4,6 Suggested Bet: Aiming to win Race 7 PUNCH LANE seems destined for better races and will strip fitter for his impressive first up win. INTREPID EAGLE overcame some difficulties to win last start and should appreciate the extra 100m. LANG PARK backs up from his heavily supported victory last week and may also be on his way to better races. MAGNASPIN has jumped out well to resume at a suitable distance. Selections: 9,7,4,8 Suggested Bet: Punch Lane to win Market Market
