Warren Huntly’s Saturday Geelong Preview Posted on January 5, 2024January 5, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 CRADLE OF LIFE did plenty of chasing behind an in-form galloper last start and will strip fitter third up. FRETTA still has a bit to learn but her talent will take her a long way again. THE NEGOTIATOR won well first up and should appreciate the rise in distance. PRINCEOFCAMBRIDGE stuck on bravely after enduring a tough run in the same race as The Negotiator. EISHA is fit and racing well. Selections: 17,7,10,4 Suggested Bet: Cradle Of Life each way Race 2 All on debut so obviously plenty to learn. TRUNK has trialled well and Straight Charge has made the form out of his trials look strong. STAY FOCUSED has shown talent and some good race sense in his trials and jumpouts. MARKDEL looked sharp winning a jumpout with blinkers on. All the others have shown something at trials and/or jumpouts. Selections: 6,4,2,9 Suggested Bet: Happy to look and learn Race 3 ZOU SENSATION got the right run to score over 1200m second up and gives the impression 1400m will suit. POLANCO can’t be improving but continues to race well and didn’t have the best of luck last start. SHAKATTAK will strip fitter third up and maps for a good run. MY MATE SONNY is racing well and can give a sight on speed. NO DRAMA was chasing Zou Sensation last time and looks suited by the rise in trip. Selections: 2,7,14,4 Suggested Bet: Zou Sensation each way Race 4 SPERANZOSO is having a terrific prep and his form ties in with a number of the main chances through Glentaneous. ONE LAST KISS was no match for Glentaneous at Caulfield last start but sustained a long run and battled on bravely. FIRE GLO TOO had no luck behind Glentaneous at Moonee Valley last time. NORTHERN BARRAGE will strip fitter third up and will appreciate 2400m. Selections: 11,14,3,9 Suggested Bet: Speranzoso each way Race 5 CARBONADOS bolted in on debut in NZ on heavy ground and has been jumping out in great style for the new stable. TRAPEZE WARRIOR had been a jumpout start leading into his dominant debut win and should be open to further improvement. GITALONG looks set for another good run on speed and his professional manner can take his a long way again. SOAR BEYOND has been kept fresh and jumped out well between runs. LET’S GET DOWN has trialled well to resume for his second prep and gets blinkers first time. Selections: 7,6,2,9 Suggested Bet: Carbonados to win Race 6 RAY MAGNERIO seems to relish being kept to the sprint trips and has been jumping out in typically good style. RICH FORTUNE was solid at stakes level last start and gets a full set of ear muffs on. TWIN PERFECTION chased a fast, in-form galloper last start and gets blinkers first time. SEBONACK needs another win but had excuses leading into a solid run in stakes grade at his latest run. Selections: 9,6,7,8 Suggested Bet: Rey Magnerio to win Race 7 Deep race. LOUNGE BAR RUBI appreciated the firmer ground last start. He maps for a good run and should be at his top. PAL D’ORO did enough first up and is a previous second up winner. MY BOY BIRMINGHAM got under the guard of many first up but will strip fitter and Bel Air franked that form at Flemington on New Years Day. LAFARGUE, TORNOTO TERRIER, BRUNG KING and DUBAI POET are among the other hopes. Selections: 4,3,1,7 Suggested Bet: Lounge Bar Rubi each way Race 8 BERMADEZ will be close to his top third up and should be suited by a solid tempo. HOLYMANZ has been freshened and jumped out well. INDEPENDENT ROAD was no match for Dunkel last week but will be hard fit and gets blinkers back on. KEATS will be part of the speed and give his a sight. Selections: 4,7,5,2 Suggested Bet: Bermadez each way Race 9 VA VIA hit the line well over 1100m first up and looks well placed under the weight conditions stepping up to 1200m. ETERNAL FLAME is most effective on the fresh side and has jumped out well for this. WAVERIDER BUOY had excuses first up in the same race as Va Via and generally performs well second up. MARBLE ARCH didn’t come up last campaign but has been jumping out nicely leading into this preparation. Selections: 2,14,3,6 Suggested Bet: Va Via to win Same Race Multi: Multi: R9 Va Via (Top 2) + Eternal Flame (Top 4) Race 10 YELLOW SAM was held up at a crucial stage first up and looks suited stepping up to 1400m. FIRE OF ETNA has plenty of upside, she won well first up and can measure up to this slightly stronger company. SISTERHOOD is building a handy record and will make her own luck. FRENCHMANS BAY may need some luck from the draw but is race fit and doesn’t run poorly. Selections: 4,10,3,2 Suggested Bet: Yellow Sam each way Market Market
