Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on February 23, 2024February 23, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 DUNKEL is a proven weight carrier and has been kept up to the mark with a couple of quiet jumpouts. FLASH FEELING over raced last time and may settle better with winkers off. GLENTANEOUS has been jumping out well to resume after going to the paddock in outstanding form. ASHRUN and MANKAYAN have some claims. Selections: 1,7,5,2 Suggested Bet: Dunkel to win Race 2 MIDTOWN BOSS may have been ridden a touch close to suit the pattern last start and is likely to settle a bit further back here. BOLDINHO has been kept fresh for the drop in trip and has jumped out in typically good fashion. KIN has been frustrating but continues to run well, sometimes without the best of luck. VON HAUKE has jumped out well and will be strong late. Selections: 7,1,13,8 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples with 7,1,13 & 8 Race 3 AUTUMN ANGEL has a touch of class and been jumping out well enough and kicks off at a suitable trip. SERASANA carries the penalty for her Sandown Guineas win but looked sharp being given a solid hit out in her most recent jumpout. SO GLAMOUROUS will appreciate the step up in distance second up. HARLOW MIST will be better over further but has trialled well in Sydney and was effective fresh in her first prep. Selections: 2,1,6,4 Suggested Bet: Autumn Angel to win Race 4 LEGACIES has jumped out well to resume and may be able to hold a spot just off the speed. MAHARBA has been jumping out in good style and was given a solid hit out alongside Serasana (who resumes in the previous race) in his latest jumpout. BRAVE MEAD controlled the race to win well first up, his form ties in the Maharba but has the wide draw to overcome. WOLFY looked good in his most recent jumpout with blinkers on. Selections: 11,2,1,6 Suggested Bet: Legacies each way Race 5 Competitive race with some progressive gallopers. CARACAS fits that category and has hit the line powerfully in his two runs to date. He should relish the step up to 1800m. UNITED KINGDOM has shown a tendency to be slowly away in his jumpouts and only race to date but created a good impression on debut and has jumped out impressively since. JUSTABOOM beat the boys over this course and distance in an easier race last time looks competitive again. IMMEDIACY is another galloper with obvious upside and is a winner at this trip. Selections: 5,8,10,2 Suggested Bet: Caracas each way Same Race Multi: Caracas (Top 2) + United Kingdom (Top 4) Race 6 GOLD TRIP will likely be better over further but looks well placed over 1800m first up in this grade. CAMPIONESSA brings solid NZ group form and her winning strike rate reads well. FOXY CLEOPATRA ran well with the tempo against her last time and gets blinkers first time. UNUSUAL CULTURE also gets blinkers and may be looking for this trip now. Selections: 1,7,10,9 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 1,7 & 10 Race 7 If MR BRIGHTSIDE has come through his tough first up win in good order he should win again and justify his short quote. He gets winers back on and the stable are positive about the way he has progressed since his first up win. BUFFALO RIVER gave Mr B something to chase last start and a similar scenario appears likely. ATTRITION has run well behind Mr B over this course and distance previously and has been trialling in good style to resume. MUNHAMEK and PERICLES were no match for Mr B last time but both will strip fitter. Selections: 1,6,7,3 Suggested Bet: Mr Brightside to will but will be short Race 8 Competitive and deep Blue Diamond. BODYGAURD needs to pass a second veterinary inspection to take his place but his talent and professionalism will take him a long way if he’s in the field. ENEEZA draws to settle closer to COLEMAN than at their last starts and both have strong winning claims. Coleman get a tongue tie and ran through the line strongly on that occasion as a positive indicator to him running 1200m. LADY OF CAMELOT won in fast time first up in Sydney and will give them something to chase. Selections: 3,12,4,8 Suggested Bet: Bodyguard each way Race 9 Typically tough Oakleigh Plate. HYPOTHETICAL gets some weight relief from her first up run and will make her own luck. KING’S GAMBIT looks dangerous on 50kg. He’s been trialling well in Sydney but may need some luck to secure clear air in the home straight from the inside draw. MORNINGTON GLORY is flying, he also gets weight relief and stuck on well after covering ground in a key lead up race. SGHIRRIPA races well here and has trialled well since his dominant win in the Standish. ASFOORA rises in weight but will strip fitter and also likes the 1100m circuit here. Selections: 10,15,12,4 Suggested Bet: Hypothetical each way Race 10 ETERNAL FLAME backs up after having no luck last week and impressed winning an easier race over this course and distance two starts back. VAGRANT is racing in career best form, she’s jumped out well between runs and may be even better suited getting back to 1400m. PARTY FOR ONE will strip fitter for her first up run behind Vagrant and will also appreciate stepping up to 1400m. REVOLUTIONARY MISS is racing well but did get the favours to win the race Eternal Flame contested last week. Selections: 10,4,6,1 Suggested Bet: Eternal Flame each way Market Market
