Chris’ Sunshine Coast Best Bets Posted on January 25, 2018 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Preview RACE 2 No. 5 Francisca Filly from the Steve O’Dea stable who is busting to get out over the 1600m trip which she strikes here. Beat all bar the smart Femme Fireball first up before drifting back from the extreme outside gate second up (1350m) giving away a big start. Her sectionals from before midrace right to the line were outstanding and far superior to any other runner in the race. The big track will suit her strong finishing pattern suggesting she’ll be very hard to hold out. SuperPick - Race 2 No. 5 Francisca - Win Boost RACE 4 No. 5 Pennino Trained on the track by Darryl Hansen this filly could not have been any more impressive bolting in here last start. Yes, that race was far inferior to the opposition she faces this time around however with the blinkers staying on she’ll again fly the gates and race up on the pace, her main rival Hope’s Eternal has no early speed and is in danger of giving away too much start. Happy to suggest she can win again. RACE 8 No. 13 Prue’s Angel Lightly raced consistent mare from the Tony Gollan yard who had plenty against at the Gold Coast last time out when beaten just over 2 lengths. Drawn a wide gate from an awkward starting point she and jockey Jim Byrne had little option other than to drift back near last once the field settled. Strung up for clear running between the 300-150m she hit the line well once clear over the concluding stages. Drawn a better gate tomorrow she’ll park closer and appears great value.
