Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on June 10, 2025June 10, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LUCKY I AM was on trial at 1200m last start at Belmont but safely held them all out, finishing in front of Surf Patrol (who she meets 2kg better after the claim), Girls Day Out (plunged and second at Northam) and Magnique (since won a 3 year old 0MWLY). Should be an ideal apprentice’s horse and she’s straight to the top. Hard to run down. CATCH CARTER can box seat on her back and enjoy a gun run. Finds this easier than the three runs this prep. SUPIDO EXPRESS can land close handy and is wet track proven. SURF PATROL got to the line well last start but has a bad barrier, bad map and weight. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LUCKY I AM WIN RACE 2 SAVAGE DANCER makes her debut off the back of a soft trial win. Given the fact she’s Grant & Alana + William Pike expect that she’ll be very firm in betting so no doubt there will be some who query the trial win, sat leader’s back and didn’t go around a horse but she also covered the ground impressively and will land close handy on debut. See no reason to knock her. EXTREME RULER ran well on debut behind Money Trees and then was annihilated in betting in the maiden won by American Escape. Respect. REBELNADO is at the shorter end of his distance range but trialled well. GLANCED may just want a bit further. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SAVAGE DANCER WIN RACE 3 WRITTEN WORDS trialled up very well in his initial preparation but didn’t make it to the races. His recent trial over 1000m was sound alongside Mardusa who toyed with 2 year old midweek rivals last week. Looks a natural. BLUE MOZART was $7 into $4.20 last Wednesday at Northam before being a late scratching with transportation issues. Concern is that it looks like he’ll get back and will that be a winnable position over 1000m? ARTIE’S ECLIPSE nearly caused a massive boilover on debut. Jump and run at Bunbury = market support. NINETYMILESTRAIGHT trialled well behind Written Words. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – WRITTEN WORDS WIN RACE 4 SANTANOVA went under as a beaten favourite on two occasions in C1 company last preparation but realistically she couldn’t have asked for a better set up here fresh. The hardest part of her race will be the first 200m to ensure she gets across from her wide draw, but if she can bully her way to the breeze then she’s very hard to beat. THE CALABRESE likely flops out to last and then tries to round all 10 rivals up. Not easy under 60kg. MAGNACHINE put in her best run of the last 12 months behind Magnique down the straight. INCANDESCENT LADY a watch at odds. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – SANTANOVA WIN RACE 5 HAIDA GWAII also looks very well placed on what looks a big day on paper for the Michael Lane / Brad Parnham combination. She’s already beaten the older horses this prep and just got gassed chasing Desert Whisper down the straight. Art Session was good in defeat behind Repossession on the weekend in a 3 year old 62+ and this on paper is an easier race with 3kg less on her back. MILITARY POWER hasn’t been stepping in recent history. Would love to see him give himself a chance by jumping and settling in the first 4. THIS’LL SHOW YA is speedy and can cross early. ORACLE SON is trying hard. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – HAIDA GWAII WIN RACE 6 ZOUCONI could not have trialled any better behind impressive first-up winner My Hidden Universe and then resumed down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra drawn on the ‘wrong’ side. Happy to give her a complete forgive and second-up over 1200m follow her into a C3 assignment with some weight relief. AZENA bounced back to her best last start and is a proven wet track mare of the past. They smashed the clock in that event so it was a very good win. DUKE OF WELLINGTON was only a head off victory in that same event. ELBOW LOUNGE usually takes a run but should get all the favours. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZOUCONI WIN RACE 7 THERMOSPHERE LAD enjoyed a wonderful preparation for Angela Johnston earlier this year and the difference in the end was the addition of Jarrad Noske to the saddle. He’s a quirky galloper and can do a bit wrong in his races but Jarrad seems to: A) get him to jump better than anyone; and 2) get him to do things 90% right. Nice race for him. VALDARENA is well placed by Steph Bakranich. Consistent Westspeed Platinum type dropping back into a C3. BUTTERFLY HOUSE an improver from a soft draw. ANABALLISTIC next best but not convinced. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – THERMOSPHERE LAD WIN RACE 8 SHAMILIAN MISS hasn’t drawn a gate for a while: 13/14, 12/13, 8/12, 10/11 and now will leave from barrier 5. She’s got the early tactical speed to hold a far better position in running from the draw and she’s certainly racing like she wants 1705m. Michael Lane at Bunbury is lethal and this filly looks to have upside. AMAZING CHEAT was under pressure a long way out last start. Hopefully the shades help her. WESTCOAST EXPRESS hit the line super last start but from last at Bunbury is no easy task. HIGHLY SPOKEN broke through impressively last start and can lead or box seat. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – SHAMILIAN MISS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 10 4,9 1,2 4 Market Market
