Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 21, 2022June 21, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WITHOUT REG went from a C1 victory straight into a 3 year old 62+ on a Saturday and held his own only beaten 2L by Seduce Me and subsequent Saturday winner Sniparoochy. Was working to the line well at 1300m and wasn’t fully tested in the concluding stages when the race was all over in front of him. Tricky little race with clashing form lines and a messy map so his versatility (can lead, can park) should set him up well for this and it should nearly be eachway the field. OLY’S CHOICE is coming off a dominant 1000m win on debut and a completely luckless defeat in a C1 1200. Huge upside and raw ability. Nice type. LET’S GALAHVANT ran well coming out of a lowly York 52+ win when finishing only 2L off Mahaleo, Hammarmill and Seduce Me. MAGNFICENT ANDY is never far from the winner. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – WITHOUT REG WIN RACE 2 DESERT VIXEN backs up off 7 days from an impressive closing effort in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind sharp midweek filly Astrape. Hit the line well and now has barrier 1 and the cutaway available for her to shoot through. Always a risk betting early into an unknown inside pad, especially when there’s rain around. Wait and watch. STORM COMMANDER was excellent first-up with 59kg when three deep the trip. Likely to be in that position again, however, with more speed on it probably suits him better. FOREVER AUTUMN is a returning 3 year old who has trialled well and should park in behind the solid tempo. REGAL MAGIC actually ran a ripper first-up last campaign. Blow out hope. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DESERT VIXEN WIN RACE 3 PASSION PRINCE is really well placed here by Adam Durrant. After destroying battlers in a C2 at Albany (on a Heavy8) he went to a Saturday 3 year old 62+ with 59kg and finished 4.5L off Zephyra, The Velvet Queen and Mojo Rhythm. Dropped back to a midweeker but again carried 59kg and finished three quarters of a length off War Gem. Now drops in grade again to a C3 against the older horses, drops 2.5kg with Taj Dyson’s claim and maps a treat. Great set up for him. KENTUCKY BLUE won a C1 last Wednesday but sprinted sharply up the cutaway. Same scenario here for him. LORD LONSDALE went forward last start and ran well. Drawn wide and can race from on and off speed. SALACIA QUEEN is undefeated this preparation but this looks a touch harder again. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – PASSION PRINCE EACHWAY RACE 4 MULTINATIONAL trialled well leading into his first-up assignment where he led them in a 60+ Graduation and finished second to fellow 3 year old Magic To Exceed. Should only be improved for the outing and without a great deal of tactical speed drawn underneath him he should slide across into a prominent position without burning too much petrol. Nice race for him. ENTICING comes from the same race and live looked like he was able to burst through and sprint past them before his run came to an abrupt end. Looks like he’s ready and is a proven wet tracker. ZERO DEMERITS found his perfect race fresh and duly saluted at odds. He now rises 3kg and strikes a better-quality field. DARK MISSION is always dangerous in this grade, especially if the cutaway is on. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – MULTINATIONAL WIN RACE 5 GHOST WHO WALKS trialled like a horse who would be winning first-up and that was indeed the case. He was held up multiple times in the home straight and it was just a matter of time until he got out and around heels to sprint clear. From the barrier he might need to concede them a head start but with the cutaway in play they will fan across the track and we’ll bank on Laqdar Ramoly to pick the right gaps and burst through late. HIBISCUS LADY was an encouraging first start in WA. She’ll almost lob one out and one back naturally in this field and from there she’s a live chance and legitimate danger. OCEAN’S FIFTEEN hasn’t been seen since New Years Day 2021. Be a huge training performance to get him up fresh. WAR WARRIOR has trialled poorly but is well weighted after the claim. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – GHOST WHO WALKS WIN RACE 6 CIVVY STREET won a 3 year old 0MWLY to break his maiden at the end of his previous preparation. Resumed in a C1 behind stablemate Hola Marea and Oly’s Choice in a form reference most expect to hold up. Drawn barrier 1, has speed to follow through Seeable, Simple Logic and Nutwood and the cutaway available if required. Should be there abouts in an open and even race. DALHOUSIE trialled without blinkers in typical S.A Miller fashion and she trialled enormous. Big watch fresh regardless of the poor barrier. BREAD TO FLIRT comes through the same race as Civvy Street and was baulked for a run on multiple occasions in the home straight. SEEABLE broke his maiden with a gritty win. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – CIVVY STREET WIN RACE 7 JUSTAMIDDY and AWESOME CHATTER look to have a length on the rest of these. Can only imagine the market will agree and they’ll be equally popular between punters. Siding up with JUSTAMIDDY who can park just behind the speed and has a burst of speed which is suited to cutaway racing. Big day for the Neville Parnham stable on paper and this looks another big winning chance. AWESOME CHATTER has been back to trials to try and regain some form. More importantly though he is back into a C1 for the first time in his life. Logical danger. DRAMA FREE and SEE YA CHAMP are both hard to catch but both can add value to the novelties at big double figure prices. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 13 Suggested Bet – JUSTAMIDDY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4,6,7 1,2,4,5,6 1,2,3,6,8,11 1,2 Market Market
