Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on January 18, 2022January 18, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KEEPER SWEET has returned to racing well for Jeremy Easthope. First-up run was solid behind subsequent C1 and 60+ Graduation winner Burnya To Survive and then was only run down late by Extra Secret (holding out Sweet Admiration) and then most recently far from disgraced into third behind Otheroneson. Backing up, no Otheroneson’s in this race, gets another chance. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY was brave in defeat first-up behind Dalhousie. Kicked back strongly underneath Cheddar Bob and was grabbed in the shadows. Wins soon. PLATINUM LABEL was caught up in a woefully run race last week. First 800m 29L slower than average. Not pretty. MULTINOVA MAN was scratched from Geraldton to save for this. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – KEEPER SWEET WIN RACE 2 LA GALEXIA comes from a first-up assignment over 1200m when finishing off the race really well from a long way back behind Miss Field, Al Tina and Valency. Think they’re all handy enough maiden types and the step to 1400m looks up her alley. From the better gate she looks the testing material. PARLARE comes from a strong maiden when wide and working throughout. Both Halatorion and Otheroneson have won since and he has always been kept safe in markets. NOVA SKY has had horrendous traffic issues at two runs this preparation. Due some luck. BANJO BORE ran home well first-up at 60-1. Natural query on a maiden won by Petite La Femme. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – LA GALEXIA WIN RACE 3 AWESOME CHATTER has been a bit hit and miss this campaign. Resumed at $1.90 and couldn’t go with them over 1000. Sat in the breeze second-up at $2.20 and won in style. Looked luckless in the Westspeed Platinum feature and then went into a 4 horse midweeker and went under at $1.40. Stepped to a 3 year old Plate and again finished second to Hear Me Sing and now finds himself back into another midweeker. Again looks the hardest to beat on paper but just have a slight trust query on him. UNI QUEEN comes from the same race and was solid into fourth. Should enjoy the run of the race and likely settles one out, one back. ELITE FIGHTER should settle closer and has shown ability. DALHOUSIE won well last start but this is a lot stronger. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – AWESOME CHATTER WIN RACE 4 FIRE GODDESS comes from a 52+ at Narrogin and a 50+ at Belmont. Usually that wouldn’t be strong enough form to win a C3 as technically from a handicapping perspective it’s a step up in grade, however, she’s come back to racing well, had no luck last week and now on the back-up with a senior rider going on gets her chance to pinch another one. Lots of speed in this and Shaun McGruddy should be able to sneak up behind them midfield with cover. Looks a nice race for her. ALMAHER MAN has the blinkers re-instated and gets a bit of weight relief. ACERMETRIC can sit on Inflation/Count Grundy and be there at the right time. INFLATION is finding it awfully hard to win but is the ideal ride for a 4kg claimer. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – FIRE GODDESS WIN RACE 5 NIGHTS MYSTERY was ridden for pure speed last start and it paid dividends. The form out of his maiden has been super with Al Quepone, Garage Days and Defending all winning at their next start. Expecting that Holly Watson will have her foot down and have them running throughout. Catch me if you can style of horse. GALAXY CAT trialled without visors down the back straight at Lark Hill and looked like she had come back in great order. Can follow Nights Mystery throughout. NO DICE should get a great run and showed a sharp turn of foot last start. Always showed glimpses. STATE OF POWER has some great 2 and 3 year old form to her name. Worth noting that Patrick Carbery sides with No Dice over her. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – NIGHTS MYSTERY WIN RACE 6 MISS FIELD and FOREVER DREAMING are a pair of emerging fillies taking on the older horses, many of whom have been caught in this grade for a long while. Tend to side up with the youngsters in these C1 events and thought the first-up WA win of Miss Field was arrogant. Idled up to Al Tina and put her away effortlessly. Paul Harvey picks up the ride and she looks better than your average maiden winner. FOREVER DREAMING was in front everywhere but the post last start behind Border Force. This is a drop in grade for her and she carries the exact same weight. WESTERN RHYTHM is rarely seen in C1 races. Has ability but can find bad luck. NIIGATA won well last start. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – MISS FIELD WIN RACE 7 SKETTA is a handy mare resuming. When last in work she won a maiden first-up, a C1 second-up and then was thrown into the deep end into a 3 year old 62+ handicap when finishing half a length off All Day Session and beating home Brooklyn Pier. Struck a Heavy10 to finish the campaign and was far from disgraced into fourth behind Jedi Mind, Gunmetal Grey and All Day Session. Liked the recent trial and should be able to slot in. STAR PRESENT went poorly first-up. After heading back to the trials she was a big improver second-up and gets 2.5kg weight swing on Karli’s Karma for a 1L defeat. KARLI’S KARMA reproduced her maiden win which saw her beat Pure Devotion. Back to her best. MRS AMERICA is not one of the Peters Investments flag bearers but is a nice bread and butter filly. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – SKETTA WIN RACE 8 SHE’S A SWEET DEEL looks like a Saturday horse in the making. Still quite new and raw but has a serious turn of foot once she balances. Looks really well suited to racing at Belmont Park with the longer, more forgiving home straight and this race has a lot of speed which allows CJP to ride her with patience. Dani Bella, Spillinova, Weaponson, Gates of Babylon, Rockon Tommy, The Verdict and Elleofadeel all have above average early speed and should ensure this is run at a genuine tempo throughout. She’s A Sweet Deel just needs to stay with them in the middle stages. DANI BELLA meets her 3.5kg better from last start with the apprentice engaged. Never far from the action. WEAPONSON steps up sharply in trip. Always treat the new Lindsey Smith horses with huge respect. PICCOLA SIGNORA can improve sharply second-up. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – SHE’S A SWEET DEEL WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,5,7,8 3,6 1,4,5,7,9,10 2,3,7,11 Market Market
