Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 17, 2021August 17, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE INVISIBLE MAN gets his opportunity to lead and win on top of the ground. Track Good4, rail 14m (no cutaway), 1200 back to 1000m and finally drawn a gate for the first time in his short career. Should be leading, should be given every chance, should be hard to run down. FINEST CLOBBER comes from a hot trial reference having split Prince Ragnar and Saturday debut winner Secret Deploy. Gets a big weight pull as a 3 year old filly and Adam Durrant/Clint Johnston-Porter are off to a brilliant start in season 2021/22. Looks the logical danger. TINYNTUFF has been racing well since joining Matt Scott. AIN’T I A WOMAN brings Esperance form but does have ability. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE INVISIBLE MAN WIN RACE 2 PRINCE RAGNAR is the half-brother to Spiritual Warrior and comes from the same trial as Secret Deploy and Finest Clobber. If Finest Clobber happens to win Race 1 then that will look the best trial form of recent months and he was strong throughout. Had a set of ear muffs on in the trial and transitions to pre-race only ears on debut. Looks a type and travels strongly in the run. TAKEMEHOMETONIGHT was a shade disappointing at her Martin Allan debut, however, if The Invisible Man gets the job done in the opener then it is somewhat enhanced form. Shades on for the first time and kept fresh for this. BIN SHALAA gets the wonderful 3 year old filly against the older horses 53.5kg for this time of year and ran well down the straight. ENDLESS BOUNTY showed something at trials and was excellent down the ‘wrong’ part of the Pinjarra straight on debut. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRINCE RAGNAR WIN RACE 3 DEFENDING and STORY BOOK come from a high rating 3 year old Saturday event back into a 0MWLY 3 year old midweeker. Both skyrocket in the weights as a result and so the Pearce Boys elect to engage a 2kg claimer in Kristy Bennett, whereas Trevor Andrews goes with the senior experience of Paul Harvey and cops the 58kg with his filly. Siding with STORY BOOK who is the only winner in this field and who was drawn a lemon at her return to racing in barrier 9 of 10. Thought she did a great job to get within 3.5L of them late and expecting that to really hold up as a form reference over the next few days. DEFENDING can find the front and prove hard to run down. HARDLY EVER is a debutante of Simon Miller’s who trial watchers have been waiting for. Looks a hugely talented filly who is more than capable of overcoming the barrier. SIMPLE LOGIC has done nothing wrong in two starts to date and gets a look at a Good4. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – STORY BOOK EACHWAY RACE 4 MONG KHON is 3 months between runs and coming back in trip to 1200m. First-up last campaign (1200m) he split Blow Me Out and Mystery Man. Prior to that first-up was a maiden winner in style with weight at Bunbury. Looks a bit of a fresh type and in a race without a deal of speed he should position up right over the top of the tempo (if not lead) and from there run a big race. TRADE WAR is a talented animal who has looked all at sea on the Heavy tracks. Backs up off 7 days, strike a Good surface and is capable of being a big improver here. MASTER MOORE resumes and showed enough in his initial preparation to suggest he’ll go well. KELORA let down nicely last start to score. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MONG KHON EACHWAY RACE 5 TYPE WON has done a lot of racing in 3 year old 62+ Saturday handicaps over the last few months. Finished fourth behind Our Boy Dylan, Sassy Trader and Divine Pair (beaten 1.5), finished fifth behind Acromantula, Iseered Iseered and Vadette De Star and Chantorque (beaten 2.8), finished sixth behind All Day Session, Sketta and Brooklyn Pier (beaten 2.5) and most recently stepped to 1200m and rolled early before hitting a brick wall at the top of the straight. Drops back to 1000, drops from a 62+ to a 50+ and has a senior rider aboard. Ticks plenty of boxes. MYSTERY MAN ran into Pepper Assault last start, a mare who had previously beaten Agent Kensington to break her maiden. You can tie in the form and he’s going well with weight. AGENT KENSINGTON got the beautiful stalking run last start and maps to get a similar run here. OZZY BOY let down well late to score in his 1000m straight win last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TYPE WON WIN RACE 6 SMASHING was spinning the wheels first-up on a Heavy8, again spun the wheels on a Heavy8 second-up, then last start saw a slightly improved Soft6 when dropping back into a C3 and meeting with good market support. Ran a far improved race when finishing off nicely behind Time Scale. Now gets a further track improvement to a Good4, drops again in grade to a C1 and is drawn an ideal gate for Chris Parnham to position her wherever he would like in running. Yet to reproduce her big runs of the 3 year old summer carnival but should be going close in this. NOBELLITY comes from a high speed 1000m race that was dominated by highly talented mare Wilchino. Better suited here and can go well again. THE WHITE WITCH didn’t look to appreciate the wet surface at trials or on race day. Improver. JUST PEACHY should track up in behind the speed. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SMASHING WIN RACE 7 ZAC LUVS TO FLY is a C1 in a C3 which is not something that would normally interest me in the slightest, however, he comes from a very high speed 1300 at Northam which has produced winners with Marlize and Jag The Joker scoring out of the event. That was a C5, this is a C3 so with the favourable drawn and the previous placing to Ginger Baker I’m willing to suggest that Zac Luvs To Fly is getting better deeper into the campaign and can give this a shake. KARIJINI AURORA like Smashing is yet to fully reproduce her runs of her 3 year old winter campaign alongside Kay Cee and Laverrod. Could the dry track be the difference? HOLYOAKE resumes at a sprint trip (for her) and looks a talented staying mare in the making. PAMBELLA finally got back into this grade and appreciated it last start when attacking the line strongly behind Elafella. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZAC LUVS TO FLY WIN RACE 8 AXEL ‘R’ EIGHT looks the map horse who can sit just tucked away in behind the hot anticipated ‘apprentice driven’ tempo and pop out at the right time. Buster Bash (apprentice), Run D’Affair Run (apprentice), Abeldane (apprentice), Talented Escape (apprentice) all look like vying for the lead at different stages of the race ensuring it is a spirited staying event. Mitch Pateman and Axel R Eight can sit just in behind them and bide their time waiting for the perfect opportunity to pounce. Always promised to string a few together. Looks a great assignment for him. CHOOSE FREEDOM is another who can sit back midfield with cover patiently waiting for the race to unfold. BUSTER BASH is on trial at the trip but the way he’s going he will be winning again soon. BLAISZEN CAZAH will need a bit of luck early to slot in. If he does, he’ll grind it out. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – AXEL ‘R’ EIGHT WIN RACE 9 PEARLS AND PRAWNS is fast approaching her swan song as she heads to the breeding barn but looks to have found a nice race to give the Lewthwaite family another cheque on their way to stud. First-up winner of a c70+ at Kalgoorlie with 60kg, enormous second-up when sitting three deep the trip with the weight to go down fighting at the hands of Manhattan Money and Ay Tee Emm. Last start was out deep chasing throughout in a high speed, high pressure 1000m race. Looks to be a three deep train here and with even luck she can play a part. THRILLED drops 3kg on the first-up effort when carrying the grand stand. Hasn’t won for a long time but looks to be getting close. MICKEY BLUE EYES trialled well and then was thrown into a 1000m race fresh. Keep safe at a more suitable trip. LITTLE FLIRT won’t see her favourite wet track on Wednesday but her race form is excellent. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – PEARLS AND PRAWNS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 5,7,8 1,2,5,7,8,9,10 1,3,5,8,11 1,3,6,9 Market Market
