Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 22, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 OUTBACK JACK backs up off 7 days from his debut. Not a regularly seen event but has worked in the past (She’s Enchanted, Schoolhouse Rock) and SJ Miller has his entire team ticking along well. Steps straight to 1700m and could stamp himself a Derby proposition here. Draws gate 1 to do no work and this is not a deep race. Gets his chance. SURVEILLANCE is now a 7 start maiden and becoming frustrating to follow. Had the race wrapped up last time out before paddling last 50m. SPECIAL VIEW and ALKALINE both come from the same 1450m trial. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – OUTBACK JACK WIN Race 2 SHEIKH IT steps straight up in trip and much like Outback Jack in Race 1 could burst onto the scene as a horse to follow headed towards the 3 year old features over the summer. Bolted in first-up when plunged late in betting and the way he won suggests he’ll only get better with trip. BURN ONE DOWN went very close at his most recent in what has proven a very strong form reference. PRETTY FRIAR didn’t get at crack at them at Kalgoorlie. Super run for the replay watchers. VITAL FLIRT won well last start and can again sit back and wait for the cutaway. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHEIKH IT WIN Race 3 RECITING should be the testing material in this race. Resumed with a solid fifth over 1000m when drawn a horror gate and getting a long way back. Not disgraced at Northam when settling midfield on a day when you simply had to be over the top of the speed to be a winning chance and then last start pushed the talented Chiclett to half a length. Gets in with only 54kg and draws to enjoy the run of the race. MIAMI CITY was knocked around badly in the middle stages last start and did a good job to pick himself up. ROO raced wide the trip in the same race and ENCHANTING GIRL finished off well. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – RECITING WIN Race 4 OUQBA TED was a big run first-up when joining the Colin Webster yard. He won four on the bounce at Geraldton when charging through the grades last preparation and this looks a far more suitable assignment with the soft draw. Doesn’t have to concede anywhere near as big a head start to them here and could give it a shake at a price. TYCOON STORM is going super and has enjoyed 12/10 rides from Chris Parnham at her last two. Will settle back from the draw but has a big turn of foot. INFLATION is finding it very hard to win but with Pateman sticking and dropping back to 1400m he gets another great opportunity. BOGART trialed particularly well. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – OUQBA TED EACHWAY Race 5 FIERY WATER looks extremely well placed to score. Broke his maiden in style when beating subsequent maiden winner and 60+ blackbooker Enduring Moment before being thrown in the deep end straight into a C3 behind Approach and Annihilator who have certainly made the form look good since. Capable type who should be right in the finish. IGARASHI leads or box seats and won well first-up. HIP WIGGLE resumes first-up no trial and has always promised to win a few. ZADOK should find this easier than the 3 year old races. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – FIERY WATER WIN Race 6 GRAND DESIGN gets in with a very winnable weight after the claim for Kristy Bennett. If she can give her anywhere near as good a ride as she produced with Patristic she’ll be hard to hold out late. Versatile type who can be ridden to conditions. EUROTRIP has hit form and was strong through the line last start in what could turn into a very good form reference. ADVOCATOR had no luck last start. Drops back in grade, blinkers on first time and drawn a gate to sit close handy. BOLSHOI GAL won well last start but looks to face a sticky map. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – GRAND DESIGN WIN Race 7 TREAT YO SELF is in a rich vein of form and looks about ready to go through the grades. Huge effort last week on top of a ridiculously hot tempo in the early and middle stages and now on the quick back up gets considerable weight relief with Madi Derrick going back on. Drawn to perfection and in form. WITHOUT REASON bounced back to the form which saw him considered a live chance in the WATC Derby back in his 3 year old days. If he can reproduce he’s the one to beat. AMERISSA is drawn to do no work and will flash late. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN won well last start but against a far weaker class of opposition. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREAT YO SELF EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4,5,6,9 2,6,7 2,3,6,7,8,9 1,2,5,8,12 Market Market
