Scott Embry’s Thursday York Preview Posted on October 11, 2018July 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 FRIAR’S MOON will get back which is never ideal at York but Whiting normally times his runs to perfection and she gets her chance. LENNON’S SONG has improved this preparation and drawn the inside should have no excuse. BRILLETA FIVE jumps up sharply in trip but has looked a staying type. KESHENA is by Black Tom so should get the distance but may be a bit soon. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – FRIAR’S MOON WIN Race 2 GESSATO has a senior rider engaged, could find the front and has always shown enough ability to be winning at least a maiden. This is a great opportunity, especially if Carbery leads. LADY SASS has the form on the board and will open favourite and be the testing material. MAHUIKA comes across and sits in the breeze. PLEAD THE FIFTH needs this kind of trip and beyond. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GESSATO WIN Race 3 THE PEN was game first-up when leading and shaking off the $1.40 favourite Driftstar and then left a sitting duck. Trialed well before hand and should be better suited at 1200m. Gets his chance here after being scratched Wednesday. SCHIMMEL found a length or two when ridden with a sit. Has the speed to lead if they so elect. HENTY LASS has trialed well enough and draws gate 1. FROM FROMM will concede them a head start at a trip which is likely to be well short of her best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE PEN WIN Race 4 PLETTO will be a minor query to handle the tight track. Big gangly filly who runs around a bit but her two starts to date have been excellent. On form she is the clear one to beat. WE ACCEPT is an intriguing runner. Showed enough in the trial and blinkers go on. FASHION ICON will have a lot of supporters but from the gate could get a fair way back. REDUCING NUMBERS would be a blow out hope if he found the front. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – PLETTO WIN Race 5 RYDON will find this a fair bit easier than when running into the classy filly Leading Girl first-up. That form could be further enhanced earlier in the program and he should get across from the outside draw. GATES OF BABYLON was scratched from a small field at Northam to be saved for this and trialed well. TOTAL DISC showed last start that he has the speed to hold up leader’s back. MUMSTHEONE is better than he showed first-up. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – RYDON WIN Race 6 ROSE’S SHADOW looks like rolling to the top or sitting outside the lead and with Jarrad Noske back on and proven on an undulating track he gets the nod. MAGIC LAS VEGAS is fairly hard to follow from a punting perspective but should sit leader’s back or even take up the running and give another big sight. BROTHER’S KEEPER ran Rose’s Shadow to a long head and gets a 1kg swing in the weights from the Toodyay Cup. SUGAR CAIN had no luck last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ROSE’S SHADOW WIN Race 7 PRINCE EIGHT looks your perfect York type of horse. Can roll to the front, pinch a cheap section or two and then Ryan Hill kicks for home before the corner. Should take some catching. BARBIE WILL DO has been fair at both starts when getting off the speed and finding trouble in the run. WATTO’S ASSASSIN gets a soft run from the draw. DESIGNER PRINCE ran a nice race first-up at a big price. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRINCE EIGHT EACHWAY Race 8 ALL SQUARE put together an imposing strike rate in Kalgoorlie and returns ot the stables of Neville Parker once again. Trial recently was strong and she falls into a winnable race. JESTER FERRARI is a nice enough provincial/country type who went close last start and draws soft. TRI MY BLING would be hard to run down if they string out. FORK HANDLES looked home last start and was only pinched late. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALL SQUARE WIN Race 9 SEASIDE SERENADE is drawn to sit off the track throughout but she should find this worlds easier than her most recent in Saturday grade. She can be hard to beat. BURGER TIME is a one paced grinder suited over further but can run a race fresh. BLACK SMUGGLER can fire across to the front and give cheek. PLAY HARD takes on the older horses but was a nice win in maiden grade. Can measure up. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – SEASIDE SERENADE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,4 2,3,7,9,10 3 1,2,3,4,5,6,9 Market Market
