Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 31, 2021August 31, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I’M A DREAMER made his debut over 1400m when finishing third behind Sparkling Jewel and Traded Crown. Was winding up nicely and matched motors with the Cerise and White mare for a fair portion of the home straight. Did a few things wrong and looks to have improvement race to race. Gets straight out to a mile and strikes a weaker field. GOLDEN TIARA is no star but she tries her little heart out. Needs some luck from the draw but kept coming last start in a fairly fast run maiden. MASARU gets weight relief with Corver going on and has shown glimpses. KELLY’S HERO had excuses last start when wide but was still beaten a long way out. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – I’M A DREAMER WIN RACE 2 ENDLESS BOUNTY was a nice trial winner at Lark Hill in late July and then impressed down the 1000m straight on debut when coming up the “wrong” side of the straight five. Lead them running last start and was only defeated late by War Gem and Prince Ragnar. That looks a great form reference behind that pair of strong 3 year old types. Capable of coming across and making a race of it. ABLOH chased hard at trials and was never fully tested by McGruddy. Pike jumps to his favourite spot three back the fence. HOOVER may need further but has trialled up well enough over 930. TALKING HEADS controlled a recent trial and kicked nicely. Form on show Wednesday through Outspoken Lad. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – ENDLESS BOUNTY WIN RACE 3 BELOVED STAR was a tough steer for Pike at trials and the Grant & Alana Williams team place a fair bit of gear on him for his debut with a norton bit, tongue tie and winkers applied. They are genius with their usage of gear and with a barrier to work with Pike can have him stalking. Looks hard to beat on debut and one gets the feeling the Cerise and White juggernaut is about to explode. THE LADY IS A VAMP is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday. If she goes this way she’s the danger. FAMOUS JURNEY was a tease last campaign. Made more promises than Lochie Taylor on the dance floor at awards night and delivered as many wins. LADY FACYNIATE a novelty inclusion. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – BELOVED STAR WIN RACE 4 CHANG MAN ran ninth of eleven last start but the run was far better than it reads on paper. Was drawn gate 11 of 11 and was dictated to from there. Dragged back to last and deep with cover and even though only beating home two opponents ran the second fastest final 600 behind the winner and with My Fury going round Wednesday the form could look great by Thursday. GYPSY GEE finished fourth behind genuine Saturday types He’s A Sizzler, Trix Of The Trade and The Front Bar last start only beaten 3L. That’s excellent form for a maiden. TAHITIAN RED ran well in the same race as Chang Man last start. GLARIAN went well at trials and the trial form will be seen through Black Fantasy Wednesday. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHANG MAN WIN RACE 5 GOLD FRIARS has the hot form through boom Cerise and White filly Mystery Moment. Expecting all the form around Mystery Moment and Arcadia Grace to be popular over the next few weeks and Gold Friars was brave in defeat last start when tramping wide throughout from the outside gate. Paul Harvey sticks, drawn sticky again but looks to have upside. TRADED CROWN continues to knock on the door and was only gunned down late by Sparkling Jewel last start. Drawn to get the run of the race. SPRINGSURE LAD is at an awkward part of the preparation but hard to knock what he’s produced to date. MADAME WU steps out in trip and will need luck from the draw. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOLD FRIARS WIN RACE 6 SPARKLING JEWEL was one of the more spirited betting moves for a Cerise and White debutante in a while. When the market trends in their direction it’s generally a pretty good indication that they’re above average and for those punters who launched her she certainly didn’t let them down. Looks like she’ll get out over a trip and is thrown into a C3 from her maiden but looks highly progressive. CELEBRITY WITNESS has come back to racing in great order and won’t lay down when the heat goes on. HOLYOAKE a sharp improver second-up. REBEL HEART didn’t handle the track conditions last start. Send prayers if the rain comes again. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – SPARKLING JEWEL WIN RACE 7 SURF POINT comes from a hot times race which is expected to produce a fair few market movers in the coming weeks. Money was flowing for Red Dwarf on Saturday and Surf Point drops from the high speed C3 back into a C1. Looks a nice assignment for him and if the rain does tumble in WA over the next 48 hours he’ll be a beneficiary. Thrives in the wet. DORADO was thrown in the deep end after a maiden win with back to back midfield efforts in Saturday Graduation/Restricted company. Much better suited in a C1. DANCE OF THE SOUTH appreciated stepping out in trip and Greg Cave is producing his fair share of winners recently. ARNO THE FOX was a big improver last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SURF POINT WIN RACE 8 JARMAN has been a bit of a hard horse to catch over the seasons but he is undeniably talented. Resumed for Greg Jones with a big minor placing behind Arracity and Approach. Thinking that form will hold up and provided Lucy Warwick can get him a relatively economical run from a tough draw he’ll prove hard to hold out late. BRIGHT GLOW brings the alternate form through Kalgoorlie but this doesn’t look any stronger or deeper than what he’s been running well in at the Goldfields. COCKY DODD can fly fresh and when he’s right the market support is usually huge. Watch. WINNIE’S WINE doesn’t win out of turn but is flying. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – JARMAN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,7,8,10,14 5,7 2,3,5,6,7 1,2,4 Market Market
