Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on July 13, 2021July 13, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MEMORABLE MISS gets another go in a tiny little 5 horse field. She and Garage Days are proving costly commodities to follow but she does look to have the superior form. Finished behind Ghost Who Walks and Cross Statement in a 3yo 0MWLY at Belmont two starts ago and at her most recent did a great job to finish off and get within a half length of Buster Bash in a sit, sprint affair. Buster Bash pushed Dark Lass the start prior so that should hold up as the stronger form reference. GARAGE DAYS was a good thing licked at Kalgoorlie but had every mortal hope last start when unable to reel in Titian Queen. Runs top 2! ARTIENNE appreciated the wet surface and the soft lead last Thursday. You’d think scratches from Wednesday to race here? PREPARE FOR CHANGE is going well. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MEMORABLE MISS WIN RACE 2 FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS has returned to racing well and with the slight weight relief for Kristy Bennett strikes a race where he can nearly roll to the top and control the tempo. Doesn’t look to be a whole lot between the top 3 or 4 and his chances look as good as any. No world beater but capable of pinching this maiden. POSTER ART looks the logical danger having run home nicely into fourth right on the heels of Freedomofthepress on debut. Concedes him 2kg but with natural improvement should be finishing right alongside him again. ZEEWIJK has shown potential in the past but is struggling for a bit of consistency at the moment. MYSTICAL BABE is a 2 year old stepping out in trip but has a postage stamp weight. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS WIN RACE 3 SOMETHINGREADY ran forth at her return to racing behind Sketta (subsequent winner), Real Senor and Short Talk (subsequent winner) beating home other subsequent winners in Just Peachy, Stella Fair and Oceanzara. Last time out at Belmont copped stack of interference in the home straight and was a complete forgive run. Expecting Paul Harvey to have her sitting right over the top of the speed on the fresh side. PEPPER ASSAULT looks the main danger and would be no surprise to see her win on debut. Recent trial form enhanced with the victory of Dream Evil last Thursday and looks a raw talent. SOUTHSTAR will need some luck from a horror draw. AGENT KENSINGTON a perennial place getter but a definite top 4 proposition. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOMETHINGREADY WIN RACE 4 TRADED CROWN didn’t fire a solitary shot last week but on the quick backup and drawn a soft gate can settle right behind the speed tucked away and improve sharply. Looks a fairly one paced type who will need things to go his way but should get every opportunity here and might sneak out to an eachway quote. SKATER BOY ran third behind Dark Lass and Buster Bash in a race which has certainly held up as a form reference. Now drops 3kg with the engagement of Holly Watson. BENTLEY BEAU was honest in his first campaign. Debut run when finishing infront of Shooting Shirocco was a ripper. SHES A SWEET DEEL is double nominated Wednesday and Thursday. If she starts here she’s the one to beat. Numbers: (13) – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRADED CROWN EACHWAY RACE 5 MATERIAL WITNESS had nothing go right last start from gate 8. William Pike chanced his hand in the early stages trying to lob a position and unfortunately for his loyal followers was caught out on a limb working hard throughout and was entitled to fade badly late in the race yet still got within half a length of Forest War who ran a ripper on Saturday in a 60+ Graduation. Better draw, Pike sticks, follow up. GIANCANA is a hard filly to line-up. Clearly her best is good (2L off Chantorque and Charleton Eddie in a Placid Ark) but her worst is woeful (last start). DAISHIO continued the excellent run of Fred Kersley’s yard and maps to get an identical run in transit. ANGELIQUES FAME lands an ideal position from the soft draw. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – MATERIAL WITNESS WIN RACE 6 CAMPESE was scratched from Saturday to save for this C3 event at Northam. Drawn a gate where Chris Parnham can stalk the every move of likely leader and main danger Time Scale and from there expecting him to take a fair bit of beating. Returned highly consistent ratings in Melbourne last campaign including a first-up 1400m win off 193 days. Fresh horse, fresh yard, right map, ticks boxes. TIME SCALE ran moderately in C1 company at 1000m two starts ago and then ran out of her skin against the older horses at 1300m in a 60+ Graduation last start. Seemed to really appreciate leading. SPECIAL VIEW is double nominated Wednesday and Thursday. This is a far tougher C3 where he is likely to work early. ENDURING MOMENT was far better at his most recent. Numbers: 1 – 5 – (2) – 6 Suggested Bet – CAMPESE WIN RACE 7 PRINCE DEVOUTLY is on trial at 1400m but he gets an ideal map scenario where he can bounce out of the gates and take a trail on Yankee Lima and Sea Waif. From there Jett Stanley should enjoy the run of the race and he is showing a talent for sitting close handy and getting the splits at the right time. Solid trial behind Real Charisma and honest effort first-up behind Ohbeeh and Enticing. SEA WAIF was impressive last start when leading and rolling at a mile. Looks better suited at 1400m but likely has to breeze outside Yankee Lima. YANKEE LIMA won well last start. ROSSO TEMPESTA caught the eye at his return. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – PRINCE DEVOUTLY WIN RACE 8 MR DELEGATOR is brilliantly placed into this C3 mile by the new stable. Second-up last preparation at 1600m was a winner of a Saturday 60+ when beating Bragwell and Phoneme and his return run was full of merit when finding late market support. Loved his trial leading in behind Secret Plan and from the gate Kate Southam should have him tracking up behind likely leader Run D’Affair Run. Placement 10/10 and well weighted after the claim. RUN D’AFFAIR RUN won’t leave any stone unturned and Tyla Becker will be rolling throughout. Graeme Ballantyne’s yard on fire. DAD’S BIGHEADED comes from a handy form race with the likes of Truly Reliable, Tradem’In and Sunsphere running well since. CONVALESCE may scratch from Wednesday to save for this. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – (8) Suggested Bet – MR DELEGATOR WIN RACE 9 KEEP YOUR FEET has raced in exclusively tougher throughout his career and sees his first ever C1 event. First-up finished second to Madam Torio and then was narrowly held out by Our Danni when spriting past the likes of Devine Beast, All Day Session and Ghost Who Walks. Finished 2.5L off them in a Saturday 3 year old SWP before being thrown into the 3yo Pinjarra Magic Millions. A repeat of any of those runs makes him awfully hard to beat here. Recent trial looks average but go and watch his trial leading into last preparation. Just ignore it. VERDANDI continues to find one or two better than her but is knocking on the door. TRADE WAR would be the one to beat if Michael Lane shocked punters and backed him up off 5 days from his first-up effort. YANGTZE RAPIDS is a new comer to WA who is likely to need further. Numbers: 1 – 7 – (17) – 2 Suggested Bet – KEEP YOUR FEET WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,(2),5,6,10 1,6,10,11 1,2,3,(8) 1,7,(17) Market Market
