Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 13, 2021July 13, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SHES A SWEET DEEL made her debut at 1200m behind Stylax and Takemehometonight in a race which was dominated from the front. First 600m were run 7.5L slower than average and she was conceding those horses in front getting it cheap a considerable head start. Did a super job to get within 1.5L of the winner and stepping out in trip looks a big plus. FORTY NINER was backed like a good thing last start and was left floundering late when unable to reel in Choice Bid. Gets every chance again. GRATIAS DEO trialled up nicely and hit the line well at his return. LUCIE MANETTE might find the top if Artienne scratches and goes to the small field Thursday. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SHES A SWEET DEEL WIN RACE 2 WUHAN WARRIOR and STATE OF POWER clash again after both putting in eye catching efforts first-up behind a talented Saturday duo in Storm Commander and Beads. That definitely looks the strongest form reference of this race and they both look like Saturday types in the making. Siding with WUHAN WARRIOR with Paul Harvey being engaged and expecting him to be ridden aggressively in an attempt to get across from the wide gate. Showed huge potential at trials and then was luckless fresh. STATE OF POWER loomed the winner in the same race and only peaked late. Blinkers on, drawn inside the main danger, very wary. FOREVER AUTUMN chased hard in the same race. Cutaway helps his chances. THE LADY IS A VAMP went close a few times in her initial preparation but the early 2 year old form hasn’t held up. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WUHAN WARRIOR WIN RACE 3 MISS ZEDEL took a while to settle into life with Adam Durrant and now that she has gone to Kalgoorlie she seems to be reinvigorated and started to pick up some confidence and form. Has been attacking the line strongly and with Hip Wiggle coming back to town and winning a 58+ Saturday race there’s no reason why she can’t be more than competitive in this evenly graded midweeker. CONQUERED ZONE didn’t get a whole lot of luck with the way the race was run last start. Not much difference between his run and that of Bollinger Boy who would measure up here. Pike a bonus. NATIVE CHIMES had nothing go right last week when the saddle slipped. Prior form great and has produced on the back-up previously. LUKE’S CHOICE did a power of work last start at the staying trip. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MISS ZEDEL WIN RACE 4 SHOWADDYWADDY won brilliantly first-up at 1400m at Northam, ran an honest and sectionally solid race in Saturday 60+ grade at 1600m second-up, put in an uncharacteristic shocker on paper third-up and then stepped out to the staying trip last start when finishing off nicely into fourth behind Baronova, Juliette and Al Mahalo. Gets weight relief with Madi Derrick going on and those small things can be the difference in these staying events. ARAGAIN was woeful last start. Travelled like the winner until the top of the straight when she gave absolutely nothing. Forgiving and forgetting. CROSSARO somehow got the better of Free Solo in an absolute wet track grind last start. Looks an improving staying type ready to go through the grades. JULIETTE has been honest and consistent throughout her preparation but just can’t seem to crack it for a win. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHOWADDYWADDY EACHWAY RACE 5 IMA SLY FOX won a weak maiden three starts ago when leading throughout at a mile. Stepped into a staying event and was drawn the inside gate in a muddling run race which eventually was dominated by those down the centre and then was thrown into the deep end into the Listed Aquanita Stakes when working wide throughout and only being beaten 5L by the likes of Tena Koutou, Crescent City, Truly Reliable and Tradem’In. Back to C1, drawn a gate, gets the nod. MAN OF THE HOUR was shuffled back to an awkward position in running last start and then never really got warm. Prior form was strong. CONVALESCE is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday and should go well regardless of which option they select. ALKALINE broke his maiden well last Thursday but didn’t beat much. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – IMA SLY FOX WIN RACE 6 SUNSPHERE has returned in excellent form. Won a maiden first-up at 1400 in a race which has been a winner producer (Tena Koutou, Celebrity Man, Free Solo) and then wasn’t disgraced behind Tradem In, Truly Reliable and Dad’s Bigheaded before recording an impressive win in a 58+ at Kalgoorlie when charging late to score. This doesn’t look any tougher and he is going well. CHALUKE has blinkers added to gear and has shown in two runs this preparation that he thrives on a wet track and can sustain a run. GHOBELLA is capable of winning with the right run. GINGER BAKER was the best backed horse in the country last start when winning soft. This looks tougher. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – SUNSPHERE WIN RACE 7 CRYPTO QUEEN hasn’t been able to crack it since her debut victory down the Pinjarra Straight but she has been highly consistent since running second on all three occasions behind Ghost Who Walks (subsequent winner), Double Rush (beating home Time Scale) and most recently when narrowly missing behind Poker Face. Has to lump 59.5kg which is no doubt right on her limit but gets ideal rain affected track conditions to win another one. APPLE SCHNAPPS has found it tough to break through C1 company but from the draw with the cutaway rail in play he gets another chance. MYSTERY MAN has always shown glimpses of ability but the recent trial was well below par. STRAKIN toughed it out well to send Robert Harvey into retirement a winner. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CRYPTO QUEEN WIN RACE 8 SPECIAL VIEW is double nominated for a C3 1200 Wednesday and a C3 1400 Thursday, so we’ll wait with anticipation to see which option Hayden Ballantyne selects. This looks a great race for him where Mitch Pateman can able to the front in a race without any speed or pressure and dictate terms. Recent trial strong and was a different horse in the Ballantyne Racing silks last campaign. PATROCITY looks the main danger yet hasn’t won a race in over 1000 days. Closing in on another one. GUNMETAL GREY is a handy filly resuming. Her form around Graceful Girl, Hot Zed and Nobel Laurence reads up brilliantly for this. ARTIE’S COMET will get back and run on. Should be a handy provincial type for Roy Rogers. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL VIEW WIN RACE 9 VITAL FLIRT and ALLEZ ALLEZ are both last start C3 winners who are trending in the right direction to be Saturday horses. VITAL FLIRT is finally starting to learn what racing is all about and is ironing out the issues which made her a hard mare to follow in the early days. Love the way she’s attacking the line and should only be getting better and better with racing. ALLEZ ALLEZ should sit close handy to the speed and is the kind of horse who is suited by sit, sprint cutaway style racing. LORDHELPMERUN backs up off 4 days from a high rating 72+ on Saturday into a moderate and even 60+ 0MWLY. He’s simply got to run well in this grade. NELSON’S FLIGHT finds the front like last start and gives another cheeky kick. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – VITAL FLIRT WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,5,7,8 1,2,3,4,8,9 4,6,7 1,2,3,4,5,6 Market Market
