Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on November 28, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PECOS will need to beat a big line-up of Steve Wolfe maidens but this looks a nice assignment for Paul Robert’s 5 year old. Did run second behind Minor Detail at Esperance when last in work and the most recent efforts this time around have been sound. Not beaten too far first-up behind Magnaburma at Albany and then a better run over 1414 at Bunbury behind Rocking The Casbah, Hot Puddin and Wolfman. Winnable. SAFE RAPPA did it tough out three deep last start and kept coming. I DREAMED A DREAM has a gear change but hasn’t quite reproduced his 2 year old form just yet. HANS CHRISTIAN tries hard. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – PECOS EACHWAY RACE 2 OXBRIDGE ran them into the ground first-up when leading and winning by almost 5L. The overall time was 6L faster than 58+ average and considering how easily he got across and how quick he went you’d think that the flying 1000 won’t be a problem for him. Might not be able to cross Work In Progress but she’s also a lovely mare to follow into the race. Has options. WORK IN PROGRESS was a bit of a nightmare for Danny Morton and Chris Parnham from time to time. When she wants to go she can really burn along. MILLIVOY can park off them and have the last crack if the leaders fold up. BIN SHALAA hasn’t quite lived up to her form of last season at Kalgoorlie/Esperance. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – OXBRIDGE WIN RACE 3 PLAYING RIO has his first start back in the Great Southern after Paul Hunter raced him in the provincial area in the ‘off-season’. He finished a narrow third firs-tup before running into classy pair Flash Max and Hymns Of Eladdair second-up. His trial was emphatic at the last meeting winning by 6L and with a set of blinkers on he looks yet another big winning chance for the form stable of the region. SONG STORY has gone close a few times now and last start was brave late. GOOD SONG is building towards a maiden win and coming back in trip might help. SOSIPATRA an improver. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – PLAYING RIO WIN RACE 4 DIVINE MERCY really got going in the latter stages of the C2 1500 behind Candijay and Pro Is Here last start. Will need to turn the tables on Pro Is Here but love the way he found the line over the last 200m and second-up from a better batter he should be going close. PRO S HERE went quick in that race. Overall race time was 2L faster than C2 average and he has an attractive racing pattern where he rolls along and stays out of trouble. YES OF COURSE might just be wanting a bit of rain in the latter parts of the season. Seems to be lengths better on a Soft. FLY BETTER is always running home late. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – DIVINE MERCY WIN RACE 5 EX SPORT GIRL is extremely well placed by Steve Wolfe and after the claim for stable apprentice Rosie Mahony looks very hard to beat. First-u last campaign resumed in a C2 1100 at Albany and won by over 2L before heading to town and was beaten a nose by Leniency. Third-up she won a 60+ Graduation beating Senorita Dorotea. Reproduces any of those runs and she’s too slick for these. LUCKY LANDING loomed and then blew out late fresh. Nice map for him to track up. SUN CHACEN is now a 7 year old but he’s always competitive in this grade. ALL BRAVE is double accepted for Gero Wednesday and Albany Thursday. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – EX SPORT GIRL WIN RACE 6 HEEZA BEAU looked good at Albany trials when matching motors over 1000 with the undefeated Final Siren and then won a trial in his own right by almost 1.5L. Went into a 1230m maiden on debut and charged over the top of them from the back of a moderate tempo. Love the way he ran through the line and think he can take the step into a C2 with success. PENNED was only nabbed in the shadows by St John first-up and should nearly lead them from barrier 5. HOT CHATTER ran into the very talented stablemate last start. ODINAKA is lengths better than what he produced first-up. His 2 year old form is outstanding for a country C2. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – HEEZA BEAU WIN RACE 7 GINGER GREEN hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a very long time. Sine he was last in Albany (April 2022) he has won a 60+ Graduation at Ascot, a 60+ Graduation at Belmont, a 66+ at Ascot and a 72+ at Ascot beating Western Knight and Snowdome! 1600m back to 1230m, m66+ back to c70+ and actually drops 1kg in weight after the Rosie Mahony claim. Given the fact he pulled Paul Harvey’s arms out last start you wonder whether they just let him run? TRADE WAR is really well placed by Michael Lane and he’s the kind of horse who should be too classy for the vast majority of rivals. HENRY THE AVIATOR was a ‘be on me next start’ run at his return. More than capable of getting over the better credentialled top weights. STORM COMMMANDER next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – GINGER GREEN WIN RACE 8 LITTLE SILVER toyed with them in a 1500m 58+ at Albany under Alan Kennedy two starts back. He carried 58kg that day, worked his way to the top and demolished them to win by 4.5L when backed from $1.90 into $1.40. He went to town last start and wasn’t disgraced beaten 2L by Black Spirit and Wango Award. Back to Albany and quite possibly back to the winner’s circle. ROCK OF KAHA and ANNIHILATOR gave Jon Jachmann a stable quinella last start. They’re both consistent and both hold form well. CANDIJAY gave Paul Hunter and Jason Whiting a race to race to race treble to open the program last start. This is much tougher though. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – LITTLE SILVER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1 1,2,4,6 1,2,8 1,2,3,7 Market Market
