Scott Embry’s Sunday Port Hedland Preview Posted on June 10, 2021June 14, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LETS HAVACRACK, TOP POCKET and KID YOU NOT are all from the Tom Pike yard and there doesn’t look to be much between them on ability. Kate Southam’s claim means that LETS HAVACRACK gets some weight relief on the stablemates and that could prove telling in an even maiden. KID YOU NOT only got going late and you would imagine that Colin Haddon has the choice of rides. TOP POCKET went close last start but will need some luck from a tricky draw. SUNDAY AT SIX brings alternate form. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – LETS HAVACRACK WIN RACE 2 PLAYING ZEUS had his first start at Port Hedland this season when finding the front and running. Overall race time 3.5L faster than average and he did all the work out in the race. Was able to respond under pressure and fight them off. Has proven to be a different horse when finding the fence. REVEREND JOHN hit the line well at Broome behind Desert Thorn, Brave Contender and King of Planets. Easily make a case that’s the strongest form for this. Big respect. CLEOS AFTERPARTY rarely runs a bad race and will have last crack. THAAD is a big class dropper but needs to recapture some form. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PLAYING ZEUS WIN RACE 3 FEMME PUISSANTE seemed to really appreciate the style of Port Hedland racing last time out. Ran well in a 56+ when only nailed late by Scintillating and beating home handy NW types like Friars Gift, Triple Event and Miss Harley Quinn. Gets her chance back in a C1. SHIRLS DREAM destroyed them first start in the region when running serious time in front. If Angela Johnston lets him run it’s game on. VITAL TOUCH improved sharply last start when settling on the speed. ICONIC SKILL is leaving his chances in the gates at the moment. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – FEMME PUISSANTE WIN RACE 4 BIG CAROLINE is stamping herself as the horse to beat in the NW Country Cups (provided she isn’t out weighted by then). Simply travelling the winner throughout and handling the surface with ease. Hard to knock these mares in form and she is a proven weight carrier. HERITAGE SASH comes back in trip and gets important weight relief. Looks one the better chances to date for 4kg claimer Rosie Mahony to break through. SHACKLETON was never in the race at Broome. This is a more suitable assignment for him. CHESTEN FLYER went well at his NW debut. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – BIG CAROLINE WIN RACE 5 ME N TAZ is a new acquisition to the Brian Rogers yard and should be an ideal Port Hedland jump and run type. Winner of a 1208m C5 at Bunbury only four starts ago and then finished third behind Zackariah Beau and King’s Authority at an Ascot 0MWLY 1200. BOYISH was the target of strong money at Broome but was unable to cross. Worked very hard throughout. Follow up. SIXPENCE SPENT was a great effort last start and drawn to follow the leaders. MISS HARLEY QUINN can bounce back from last start. Just needs to get across. SCOTOPIA is going well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – ME N TAZ WIN RACE 6 ROYAL PLANET was the replay watch of the meeting at Broome. Michelle Hagley was giving race goers high-fives turning for home when caught four, five and six deep throughout. The mare amazingly kept coming and only faded in the last 100 to be beaten 2L. Drawn ideally here and there will be many punters eagerly awaiting prices. IN THE BAG comes from the same race and ran very well. MISS CIRCLEWORK is naturally hard to beat. Back to back Port Hedland wins and over a subsequent plunge winner in Weld. GALIBA is an honest customer and can take advantage of the gate. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – ROYAL PLANET WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,4,6 1,3 1,2,3,5,6,8 1,2,4,5,8 Market Market
