Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 2, 2021July 2, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JOLLY LACE gets the nod to break through at start number 17. Had been a model of consistency throughout her career without winning and has run placings more often than not in the last few months. Clearly knocking on the door and these maidens get thinner and thinner by the week when there are no new additions to the pool of horses. Gets her chance. BIG BREAK was the target of enormous market support last start and didn’t fire a solitary shot. Where there’s smoke there’s fire, especially when Chris Parnham and MR Peter Fernie are teaming up. RUSTY SPIRIT ran well at his return. ILZAAM could be a sneaky chance if leading. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – JOLLY LACE WIN RACE 2 MR GENOA won a near identical race two starts ago, a c70+ in Kalgoorlie over 1300m beating the vast majority of rivals that he meets here with 60kg. Last start went to town and had a crack at a 66+ when running into the likes of The Spruiker and Bright Diamond. Back to Kalgoorlie, back to this grade, looks hard to beat. FINGERMARK has been kept fresh by the majestic specimen that is John Mason and he is a horse on the rise for a strike-rate trainer. WATTO’S FURY doesn’t run bad races and the addition of Chris Parnham a bonus. RECAPITULATE is returning fresh and had a big preparation when last in work. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR GENOA WIN RACE 3 KELLY’S HERO is one of the powerfully travelling stable of Adam Durrant. Seems to take a team to the country area for a winner or two at each and every meeting whether it’s Kalgoorlie, Albany or Geraldton and Kelly’s Hero could be one here. Shades on first time and comes from a handy trial behind Queenship (3rd on debut) and Dark Lass (first-up winner). Won’t get a better opportunity to open the account. MILITARY BEAT improved sharply last start and is drawn in close. ANDREITTE had genuine excuses last start and can come out running. FIRST MOMENT is getting closer. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S HERO WIN RACE 4 ONE FOR THE ROAD won a Kalgoorlie maiden soft (tongue in cheek) first-up when getting the better of World Ruler late in the race. Took that form to a C1 at Northam when running third behind What About Moi (heads to the Aquanita Stakes), Regardless and massive Thursday plunge horse Ginger Baker (winner). Has the right form to be winning here. GALAHS DO ROAR ran out of her skin at Northam two starts ago and if she reproduces that effort is a definite danger. COCKY ED has hit a purple patch of form and is seemingly enjoying life racing at Kalgoorlie. Just needs an inch of luck from the draw. BLUE TURNS TO GREY is honest. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ONE FOR THE ROAD WIN RACE 5 SUNSPHERE won well at Belmont first-up in a winner producing race (Tena Koutou, Celebrity Man, Free Solo) and then stepped straight into a 3yo 0MWLY race over 1700 when far from disgraced into fifth behind Tradem’in and Truly Reliable (both go to the Aquanita Stakes on Saturday at Belmont). Drops back to 1400 and looks hard to beat with even luck. SOLARIZE ran second to Sharpob in a 58+ company last start. Drawn ideally to get a favourable run throughout. GLUTEN FREE can be hard to catch but at his best is more than capable. DALGARANGA loomed large two starts ago and then had excuses when wide the trip at his most recent. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – SUNSPHERE WIN RACE 6 JAKESTAR looks to get the ideal map to sit leader’s back and zap them late. Backed off the map in a C1 first-up when launching late with 60kg after tracking up three deep with cover. Stepped into a handy C2 last time out when running into Johnny Angel and lost no admirers with 60.5kg. Now with Jett Stanley’s claim gets in with 57.5 and is likely to settle leader’s back. Gets every chance. IRON SHARP took the step from maiden grade into a C2 with ease. Dominant win and clearly the one he’ll need to run down. HERRON SAND is the kind of mare who runs home in all the best sections without winning. Needs to find a race where it’s 1v1 Jenga style and rely on the other to have some bad luck. REGAL DIVIDEND can come across to breeze outside Iron Sharp. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – JAKESTAR WIN RACE 7 BALLADEER has come back to racing well this preparation. First-up winner of a 58+ when gunning down The Beach and then was well supported in a 70+ last time out when missing away and then attacking the line hard to be only beaten 1.5L behind Mr Genoa and Watto’s Fury. Back to 58+ grade is a positive but he’ll need a peach of a ride from the awkward draw in an open race. THE BEACH is bursting to win a race and the day she finds the fence she’ll be awfully hard to beat. SHARPBOB was winning a long way out last start. Looks capable of stringing a few together. BOS TAURUS is rarely seen in this grade. Excellent placement and use of the claim. Numbers: 4 – 12 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BALLADEER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,7 4,5,7,8 1,2 1,2,3,4,6,7,10,12 Market Market
