Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on July 13, 2023July 13, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SECRET SNIPER and GINGER CHARM are both quick and both come from the powerful Tom Pike yard. Ava Catarino brings the weight of SECRET SNIPER right down to 52kg and she was never in the race last start after missing away. Previous to that she finished 2L off Rosa Ballerina, King Hallowell and Cape Pride. Worth forgiving. GINGER CHARM went quick last start (first 600m 4.5L faster than average) and that was in a C1 as well. Drops back into a maiden and works her way forwards. WILD SCENES did a pretty good job at her dirt debut. JAKE THE PEG brings intrigue at his dirt debut. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – SECRET SNIPER EACHWAY RACE 2 GRATED COCONUT was super last start at 1200m in a 64+ at Marble Bar. He set them alight in the early and middle stages (overall race time 5L faster than average) and was left a sitting duck for in form 11 year old Sixpence Spent to gun him down. Back in grade, back in distance and 2kg off for Rosie Mahony. Like this set up for him. DEBIT CREDIT hasn’t raced at the same level since he won impressively at the opening meeting at Carnarvon. NOTHERN CHILL is quick and down in the weights. AMELIA’S BELIEF always a chance if jumping. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – GRATED COCONUT WIN RACE 3 ZEEWIJK is simply a different animal at Roebourne. Four of his last five victories in his career have been at this track and he was able to prove too strong for them in a 56+ 1103 at Roebourne three starts ago at odds. This is tougher but he simply loves the circuit. WELD is hit and miss. He’s a hard horse to follow and a hard horse to trust but from the inside draw he’ll get every conceivable hope. WAR WARRIOR has shown a change in form recently and can lead this for a long way. WHOS YOUR MAMA next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ZEEWIJK WIN RACE 4 MAGIC OF ZEUS looks the special on the program at Roebourne on Saturday. Second at his first start on the dirt over 1400m in a 68+, second over 1400m in a 56+ when narrowly beaten and now steps out to a mile and strikes a very weak field. Drawn a gate, Austin Galati sticks and he looks really hard to toss. BILL JACK looks the logical danger. Dropping a stack of weight and the only leader in the race. If he jumps and gets rolling he might be hard to get past. GILT DRAGON is better than what he produced fresh. MIDNIGHT BLACK next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OF ZEUS WIN RACE 5 AMBER HIGHWAY should be finally ready to show his best. He has had four starts at Port Hedland and finished in the money at all three of them. Now Ava Catarino takes over a takes 4kg off his back to bring him right down in the weights. If he jumps, he should muster through to lead and stay out of trouble. From there he’s hard to run down. KELLYS LASSIE is flying and loving life with Nadia Bishop. Shades go back on as she attempts to run out a strong 1400. May be right on her limit. MIETTE STAR improves sharply at her second start on the dirt. LEADER BIAS toyed with them in a C1. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – AMBER HIGHWAY WIN RACE 6 GALIBA is the class runner in the Harding Cup. She’s the winner of a 68+ last start and is tough as nails. She is stepping from 1300m straight up to 1800m which may see her vulnerable late in the race, especially with 60kg on her back, but Austin Galati should give her the run of the race throughout. WAR CLASS ‘won’ last start in the abandoned race over a mile at Port Hedland. Comes into this 36 days between official outings but was ridden out by Phillip Crich in that abandoned race so no worries fitness wise. CROSSARO is always a chance in these races. LAUTRE is going well. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – GALIBA WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,4 1,3 1,2,3 1,2,5,7 Market Market
