Scott Embry’s Saturday Pinjarra Preview Posted on December 29, 2023December 29, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GIVEMEONEREASON hasn’t exactly been a friend of punters to date, however, 8 of his last 9 outings since breaking his maiden have been in higher grade and some of those runs read up really well for a race of this nature. 1.5L off Universal Flair, Saloon Bar, Too Dardy; 2.5L off Too Dardy, Berbere and Devine Belief; splitting Sky Duke and Supersession; 1.5L off Rear Admiral. Fair to say he’s struck some handy opposition so far. Recent trial was strong and he’s drawn to get to the outside fence. Nice race for him. LUCKY SUE appears the logical danger. David Harrison’s horses fly down the straight and so it would be no surprise to see her go lengths better than her recent trial at Lark Hill. STORM LORD has straight 1000m form. AUNTY JEAN goes really well down the straight. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – GIVEMEONEREASON WIN RACE 2 ONLY US is the point of difference runner. Ryan Hill has him double accepted for Saturday at Pinjarra and Sunday at Bunbury so he’s not even a definite starter but would be surprised if there wasn’t some early money around for him. He’s been getting run of his feet over shorter and finding the line late. Big step up in distance but this is akin to a country maiden. Often in these weak staying maidens the alternate form is the good form. FIOREYES, DENTED ROMANCE and COSMIC CHAOS all did battle in the race won by Garman. That was a slog from the top of the home straight with a lot of very tired horses. Not much between any of those. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – ONLY US WIN RACE 3 OREGON HIKER was over a month between his impressive Lark Hill trial win and his first-up run when quickly collared by Bonny Rock on straightening before fighting off the rest of the chasing brigade to finish second beaten 2L. Should be naturally fitter here and expect that Lucy Fiore will kick through to lead. Nice assignment for him. REEL THEMOFF is actually a previous maiden winner who has since been disqualified and now becomes eligible to return to maiden grade. After beating Art of Consent on the Scarpside over 1200m back in January he went straight to a C1 at Ascot and finished second. His recent trial was soft and he should be hard to hold out. JUST FAMOUS has trialled nicely for his debut and gets the right run. UUKHAI wasn’t bad up the straight on debut. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – OREGON HIKER WIN RACE 4 ROUNDABOUT GLORY ran fifth on debut beaten 2.5L and then was the target of plenty of betting support at his second start when splitting Justabittapress and impressive subsequent winner Play Dice. Probably could have finished even closer after having to steady before straightening. Looks a nice type and from the draw he should get every chance to open his account. PREMIUM GIRL has been back to trials after being plunged to beat Masamune. Attempted to buck and ruined her chances in the first 50m. Soft trial. Obvious danger HERO HUNTER went around in a 2 year old 0MWLY on debut when finishing less than a length off Paris Calling. Still green. THE FINAL BELLE was a $180,000 yearling purchase who trialled alongside debut winner Objectify. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – ROUNDABOUT GLORY WIN RACE 5 OWN THE QUEEN won a barrier trial leading in a set of blinkers under Troy Turner by over 3L. Went into her debut from barrier 14 of 15 in the $50,000 Westspeed Maiden, didn’t wear blinkers, went back and was extremely green and wayward. Troy Turner on, blinkers on and a far better barrier. Looks raw, looks new but looks good. RAKIYA made good late ground behind More Than Enuff at Bunbury last start. CRYSTAL ROSE looked to have found a great race last start as a leader on a leaders day and was backed accordingly $13 into $5.50. This is deeper. FARAWAY BAY covered ground last start in the same race and kept coming to the line. Drawn poorly again though. Numbers: 13 – 11 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – OWN THE QUEEN WIN RACE 6 SHOT OF ELEGANCE and DIRTY CHAI both trialled behind impressive first-up winner Comic Hero. There was little between them at trials and doubt there will be much between them come race day. Going to side up with SHOT OF ELEGANCE who has impressed at both runs for Grant & Alana Williams and did have to wait for a run to appear at trials before taking the gap strongly. DIRTY CHAI was winding up down the centre under her own steam and the way the Pearce Brothers are going she’ll be popular and she’ll be hard to beat. COOL MEMORY returns off only a 400m jump out but can use her speed to offset the wide draw. RED REBEL looks about ready. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHOT OF ELEGANCE WIN RACE 7 STARRING KNIGHT was a victim of circumstance last start. He was travelling boldly behind a ridiculously slow tempo (overall race time almost 20L slower than average….) and then he got pocketed and held up with nowhere to go. By the time he saw daylight the winner was off and gone and the race was over in front of him. Senior rider goes back on, drawn to get a similar run in a race with far more tempo and is holding form nicely. STORMY TAWNY went close last week in the Epona Classic. First time to 1400m but Scarpside should suit. MAMA TEMBU was a crazy good run last start. She’s hard to catch but she’s clearly flying at the minute. MANHATTAN STRIP / COUNT THE SESSIONS will need some luck from their awkward alleys. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 15 – 4 Suggested Bet – STARRING KNIGHT EACHWAY RACE 8 AUTUMN REBEL will be one of the shortest priced favourites of the Pinjarra season. He was a massive run in this grade last start to run down Fast Flicker in a sizzling time. The overall race time was 10L faster than average and DMac’s Colt looks highly progressive. Getting better and better with racing and destined for bigger and better things. COMEALILBITCLOSER was held up for the majority of the home straight last start. He’s going well but it’s hard to see him turning the tables on an 8L margin from the last time he met Autumn Rebel. KAYMAY hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long while. Just a query on how she’s going. SHADOW GIRL an improver at big odds. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – AUTUMN REBEL WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 9,11,13 4,7,8 2,4,5,7,9,11,13,15 2 Market Market
