Scott Embry’s Saturday Moora Preview Posted on October 6, 2023October 6, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BIG NOTER ran fourth on debut at Belmont Park when only 1.5L off Under Influence and subsequent winner Canny Rock. Was a 30-1 chance on that occasion but did strike some interference in the home straight and yet still finished off slowly. A maiden at Moora to start his preparation looks great placement. EIN STEIN is looking to follow in the steps of stablemate and relation Albert who has now hit a purple patch of form and Ash Maley tends to target these once a year meetings with horses first-up. DESERT SLEEVE ran a great second at 100-1 two starts back. MORTICIA next best. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – BIG NOTER WIN RACE 2 PIT TO WIN has a lot of weight to carry even after the claim for Rosie Mahony but he’s had two starts at Moora and was a strong winner two seasons ago before finishing second behind Human Nature last season. Goes super fresh, kicks through to lead or box seat and should be hard to beat even with the massive impost. He’s the class. KENNEDY has stuck a little bit of form late in the dirt season. Drawn awkwardly but racing consistently well. PREDETERMINED is having his second start for Aaron Pateman and wasn’t bad at York. THE WITCH DOCTOR has been knocking on the door all season at Carnarvon without winning. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PIT TO WIN WIN RACE 3 CRYSTAL VAIN has been a great pick up for Aaron Pateman. Big win at York when charging home over the top of them and then ran a solid third at Belmont (Toodyay meeting) when third behind The Great Hoya. Should get every chance from the draw and Simone Altieri rides these circuits well. DARK CITY is no slouch, he was on a hit and run mission at Moora last season and got the chocolates. Danger. CHILLI BEAN has been up for the entire Broome season and races up on speed. Should give some cheek. PORTRAIT LAO next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL VAIN WIN RACE 4 ALTOMEGA has been specked in betting at odds in recent staying maidens. Back in distance, blinkers on and drawn to work forwards and hold a position over the speed. This is a very thin old race in terms of depth and quality so drawn out might be a blessing in disguise. MOON DOG has returned in good order (for a horse who is 0 from 33). Ran third behind Run D’Affair Run and Jadavi in a 1450m trial before finishing third at York to Divine Judgement and Shakerato and then again third behind Thinking Game and Shakerato. BEERMULLAH showed something at York two starts back. IT’S A LOVE STORY has always trialled well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – ALTOMEGA WIN RACE 5 STUMBLE is in form at the perfect time. The Broome Cup clearly came 3 – 4 weeks too early for him because his last two wins at Carnarvon have been absolutely arrogant. Jess Valenti couldn’t hold him slow enough at the 600 last start and he demolished them. Looks a great race for him to pick up his first country Cup. MEGAZONE would have been targeted at this for a while now. He has dropped just enough points over the last 6 months that Ash Maley can sneak him into the Moora Cup with 62kg and he calls on top quality heavy weight rider Alan Kennedy. He’ll run the trip and he’s the best credentialled horse in the race. Big respect. OLDEN and MULTINOVA MAN can roll forward and control the speed. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – STUMBLE WIN RACE 6 FINAL PLAN burst onto the scene in Broome this season with back to back all the way wins and then a second over 1800 to Sunsphere and then the wheels well and truly fell off. Fresh since a fourth placed effort at Newman in the Cup in late August and coming back to what looks a far more suitable 1500m. Can bounce out and be put into a position. DON’T WAIVER is yet to run to anywhere near his demolition job in Derby. BLITZEM HENRY hit form at the end of the Broome/NW season. THE DIVINE WIND is honest but his best looks past him. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – FINAL PLAN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3 1,3,5,7 1,3,5,6 1,2,6,7 Market Market
