Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 30, 2020October 30, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FINGERMARK was backed off the map last start and the astute John Arthur Mason landed the cash. He has been a brilliant acquisition in the second half of the season. A lowly $13,000 tried horse purchase who has had 7 starts, won 2 and placed twice as well. Even managed to beat one home in the traditional, annual Hannans Handicap. Gets in with no weight and John Mason has been waiting all season to leg Victoria Cover aboard. MR GENOA has ability but isn’t the easiest horse to ride. Interesting to see how Dhurun goes. STARTHEFRIAR was huge two starts ago at 100-1 and then just as good last start. Well placed here. PARADISE SQUARE is honest as they come. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – FINGERMARK WIN RACE 2 PASTRY bounced back to some of her best form last start. Was given every chance by Pateman in front and was being gunned down late but overall ran good time and figures. Chris Nicoll picks up the ride and this mare is versatile. Can be ridden as the leader or sitting just off them. COUNT TOMOZ OFF is the first ride for Angela Johnston. With her 4kg claim and a horse who pulls particularly hard she may be best served to let him roll. LITTLE HERCULES has had a big campaign and is racing extremely well. NORD AVENIR has hit form and holds it well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – PASTRY WIN RACE 3 AURAE went under last start as a well supported favourite but looked to peak on the run over the last 150 and so dropping back to 1400m suits. Going through her last three or four runs she has most of these horses covered when they have clashed previously and Natasha Faithful picks up a handy little book. Looks to have found her race. MOONLIGHT EXPRESS is no star but Peter Fernie can turn them around quickly and she has no weight. MAGIC LADY is mixing form but best is good enough. NO STOPPING ME can bounce back. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – AURAE WIN RACE 4 PRINCE OF PROMISES is flying for Rickie brown. Sat leader’s back behind The Beach last start in an extremely fast run race and actually gets a rare chance to find the front. Keshaw Dhurun is letting them run and that really suits the Kalgoorlie track. Looks to have found his race. PROTECTED ACTION has weight to carry but is clearly racing in career best form. Black book efforts at three of the last four. TOO SPICY had 6 runs as a 2 year old and many of them were top quality. SOUND OF FURY can bob up at a price from time to time. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – PRINCE OF PROMISES WIN RACE 5 STARALIGN was a shade below his best last start but clearly can be forgiven considering the way the race was run. From the draw Keshaw Dhurun should have him far closer in running and from there he looks hard to hold out. Brilliant campaign and racing so well meeting in, meeting out. RECAPITULATE is a capable front runner. He goes quick and makes them chase a fair way out. SIGIL is Sigil. Brave investing Australian Dollars on him. CITY STAR has been there abouts of late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – STARALIGN WIN RACE 6 CONCRETE MADAME was only nailed on the post by Special Choice first-up and that mare has since won an Ascot Saturday. Last start was allowed to wobble off the fence by inexperienced apprentice Hannah Fitzgerald and was beaten by Pure Magnus and Foxy Royale. Madi Derrick goes back on here and she gets her chance. MANHATTAN MONEY can carry the weight and from the draw looks to get all the favours in the run. PURE MAGNUS was back to his best last start. DALGARANGA is far better than what he showed fresh. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – CONCRETE MADAME WIN RACE 7 MISS ABBY could be the value play on the final day of the KBRC season and the final time that punters will hear the tones of Dave ‘Groover’ Sheehan. She was impressive to the eye and equally as good against the clock on the fresh side behind Nord Avenir and Leading Man. From the wide draw she’ll get back but if they can make ground she’ll be getting home hard. LEADING MAN loomed the winner last start but that is also him. Gets every chance from the draw but at a likely short price quote is always a risk. ART ADMIRER broke his maiden well. TOO FAT TOO SLOW finds a new home and his fresh run in August was good. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISS ABBY EACHWAY Quad (Race 4 – 7) 2,4,5 1,2,4 2,3,4,5,9 4,9 Market Market
