Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 15, 2021April 15, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SPRING TO LIFE ran third at his WA debut and master trainer MR Peter Fernie makes a stack of gear changes. This race has no exposed speed at all and Hagley has the option to roll to the top and control the race. Shouldn’t be a maiden for long. WATTO’S REWARD was stiff last start and has promised to win a race for a long time in either Kal or Esperance. JONO does things wrong and is starting to look very one paced. AURAE is running out of chances. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SPRING TO LIFE WIN RACE 2 TALK IT UP was bitterly disappointing on debut after a highly encouraging trial. Ended up in a nightmare position in running and then failed to finish off as expected. There is going to be obvious questions asked about the quality of that as a form reference but we’ll follow up on the eye and trust what we saw at Belmont trials. MAGIC LADY was super in that same race and beat home Talk It UP comfortably. Looks like breaking through this prep. SAINT CLEMENTS should be a handy acquisition for Jeff Eeles team and can lead. NAUGHTY THOUGHTIES next best. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – TALK IT UP WIN RACE 3 PROTECTED ACTION ran eighth first-up and was beaten 5.5L but it was first-up no trial and it was in a 58+ where he set the tempo and ran them 1.5L faster than 58+ average. Drops back into a C2 and after the claim for emerging apprentice Holly Watson looks to have found a winnable race. SHADOW BOOM was an impressive Kalgoorlie trial winner and her form on the East Coast is definitely strong enough to measure up here. SALCITY returned to racing well for the new yard. PERCEIVE should be winning races early in the prep for Dave Smith. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – PROTECTED ACTION EACHWAY RACE 4 BLOOMS ran third behind Pure Magnus and Torniquet first-up no trial at 1100m. Should only be improved for the run, gets half a kilo on Tourniquet and a much kinder barrier. With the massive pull in the weights and the services of noted front running rider Simone Altieri she looks hard to run down. TORNIQUET is more than capable of clearing this grade and being competitive in 70+. Brian Allen has him going well. KENTUCKY LOVE and THE BEACH are both on speed types resuming who can give it a shake if wound up. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLOOMS WIN RACE 5 TOO FAT TOO SLOW showed something in the same race when leading them running. Love the booking of Simone Altieri who should be able to find the front, control the tempo and kick into the corner. Evenly graded race and gets his chance. NEAT ACTION won at the opening meeting at the KRBC and then didn’t seem the handle the 6-day back-up when fading badly in the final furlong to be beaten over 3L. Willing to forgive and forget the effort and follow up with the Hagley/Fernie combination. TRIGGERFISH didn’t get much luck at his Ash Grace debut. Can improve sharply. FAIR ONE gets some weight relief with Tyla Becker’s 4kg claim. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – TOO FAT TOO SLOW WIN RACE 6 TRILLIONAIRE won like a horse who was about to go right through the grades in the Goldfields. Might be looking for further and does get a long way back in his races but his two runs in Kalgoorlie have been enormous. Looks like a horse to follow this season and every year MR finds a new one for the punters. ALCINA has been a revelation since joining the Josh Brown stable. Career best win last start and a brave ride from Holly Watson. CONGREVE ROCKET is well placed by Pat Keating. Yet to fire in town but this is a nice option for the talented 3 year old. KNIGHT TEMPEST is a nice type but from the gate gets back with Trillionaire. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRILLIONAIRE WIN RACE 7 MAGNIFORCE comes back to Kalgoorlie after the first-up performance at Ascot where he did it awfully tough in a race where they were flying in the early and middle stages. Overall m66+ time was 4.5L faster than average and the form has already held up in town with Creator winning last Saturday. From the draw he can lead and from there he should win. WOCKNWOLL ran well first-up but will need to improve again to be gunning down Magniforce. STARALIGN got the run of the race and duly saluted first-up. WATTO’S FURY is the most consistent horse in the region. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFORCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5 1,3,4,5,6 3,6,7,8 4 Market Market
