Scott Embry’s Saturday Carnarvon Preview Posted on September 12, 2019September 12, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 POPPIES won the abandoned race a fortnight ago with a barnstorming run down the outside to score. Fingers crossed for connections and new stable that she can reproduce both the run and the result. THE PAUA FRITTER was the target of good support in that race and ran well. CARSON DRIVE can box seat from the draw and run a race. DESIGNATED DRINKER looks like he’ll need a touch further than 1200 but he is an imposing animal in the flesh. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – POPPIES WIN Race 2 STRIDE OUT has been going from strength to strength for one of WA’s hottest stables. Michelle Valentine is going at almost 40% over the last 2 months and her team is winning for fun. JUST A FLUKE was a good run at his first dirt outing. New connections should have a lot of fun with him. NEWMARRACARRA can bounce back from a below par performance last start. CLEVE’S WATCHING is never far from the action. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – STRIDE OUT WIN Race 3 FARALON won two on the bounce to start the preparation but has gone a bit cold of late. Drops in grade back to a 56+ which is the same grade he bolted in first-up and second-up. Needs to recapture form but should prove hard to beat. BULL BAILEY was the target of incredible backing last start. $34 into $4.80 nationwide for a 4kg claiming apprentice looking for her first winner. Shades on, senior on, keep safe. BROTHER RAND is racing particularly well and wins another soon. BALMONT STUNNER is going below his best but can improve. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – FARALON WIN Race 4 BAI BAI has been racing very well of late. Winner of her maiden in a C1 five starts ago, second three starts ago behind Premio Momento beating home subsequent winner What a Drop, and then two starts ago ran into in-form duo Sweet Talkin’ and Shrewd Gamble in a C3. Drops back to C1 company and looks hard to beat. WILLAS WAY finally broke through at Newman last start after a teasing Broome prep. PATRONISM can bounce to the front and give cheek. ALMASTER is seemingly not handling the going that well. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BAI BAI WIN Race 5 THE GOSPEL SIN had one start in Port Hedland and won well. Just over a month later lobs in Carnarvon for the first time and from the gate should position just off the speed. Talented enough to win at the provincials at his best he can make it two on the bounce. KNUCKLE DOWN was a huge effort first-up since June 2018 and his previous run was 27 December 2017. He wins one very quickly. SECRET SMILE almost caused a boil over last start. RONBOY comes out running. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE GOSPEL SIN WIN Race 6 JELANI EXPRESS missed the kick in the Broome Sprint when going round $2.80 favourite in the feature. From there the race was over. Previous to that was the winner of 6 on the bounce and he has the speed to come across and find the breeze. CALABRIA JOE is a nightmare horse behind the gates but if they can load him then he’ll be right in the mix. ROGER THE ROMAN is a nice ride for Tyla Conway. Huge weight to contend with but he is Hannans Handicap bound and ran 2nd in the Palmerston two starts ago. MAGNATION is thrown in the deep end but since the shades went on is a new horse. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – JELANI EXPRESS WIN Race 7 SHIBUYA CROSSING has been in 56+ type of company all preparation and not contested most of the bigger name North West features but looks well placed in this race. Can settle right over the speed and should be given every chance. I’M A BLUEBAGGER can stay. The veteran 10 year old has been in form all preparation and expecting Ikenushi to keep him out of trouble and make a sustained run from the 1000. HONORFIC is going very well and was big in defeat behind Swift Platinum last start. WESTERN STAR brings a very alternate form reference but if she jumps she can surprise them. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 7 – 14 Suggested Bet – SHIBUYA CROSSING WIN Race 8 ARMOURER might just get under the radar. Was a big run from well off them last start and now draws a gate and has a senior engaged for the first time since July. SHREWD GAMBLE has hit form but draws to do it tough. PORTRAIT LAO will get a rider from the named emergencies if Vallentine holds out and waits and if he starts he is right in it. FERNGROVE lumps a big weight from a wide alley but is the class. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – ARMOURER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4 2,3 1,2,5,7,14 1,2,6,10,11 Market Market
