Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on July 11, 2024July 11, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LO LO LONHRO finished second behind De Lovely Lad and beat home Disco Donut first-up over 1000m and since then hasn’t been at the same level (in fact has been awful). Given 28 days between runs and should be able to park on Just So Sassy and The Lyricist who hopefully will be stopping late and giving him the chance to zap them. JUST SO SASSY can really burn early but she paddles late. Back to 1000 is her chance. THE LYRICIST is still a maiden but trying hard. RIGHTS OF MAN hasn’t found his feet on the dirt. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – LO LO LONHRO WIN RACE 2 NO CHANGE smashed the clock at his Broome debut. He lead them running and just never stopped. The overall race time was 7.5L faster than 70+ average and considering he’s an all the way winner over a mile at Ascot there’s no reason to suggest he won’t be leading and winning again. Rises to 62kg but if Angie Johnston rides him for pure speed again he’ll have them all chasing a long way out. Going to get very short. BIG BADA BOOM gets his best chance yet out to 1600. He’s been getting better and better on the dirt and needs ground. Gets 3kg on No Change but was beaten 12.6L. APPLE SCHNAPPS is a query at the distance. TINSNIP improves for the outing. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – NO CHANGE WIN RACE 3 SQUILLIONAIRE raced off 35 days when finishing second to Star Soprano and then won her first dirt race last start this track/distance/grade. With all the ‘class’ runners heading to the 1600 there’s no natural top weight so she’s been dragged up 4kg here and has to lump 59. That’s the concern. ROCAPOZZENE is a jump and run mare who drops down to 53.5kg. From barrier 1 she’ll look to burrow up underneath and hold the lead. Big difference leading or being crossed. PRINCE RAGNAR has the speed to cross them both. Big watch in what looks Roy Rogers race. STAR SOPRANO hasn’t been the same horse second or third-up. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SQUILLIONAIRE WIN RACE 4 THERMOSPHERE LAD went so close to giving Cooper Casey his first winner as a trainer at the last meeting. Was parked three deep the trip and then was left a sitting duck late when run down in the final stride by Berta. Not convinced on him running out 1435 but if he can lead that’ll make things a lot easier for him. WHAT SHOUT has blinkers re-applied and if she can kick through to hold the top it’s game on. MR HOLLYWOOD gets back but is getting through the kickback. EZELOVE comes through the Hide The Oreos race which broke the stopwatch. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – THERMOSPHERE LAD WIN RACE 5 HIDE THE OREOS ran second to Dark City over 1100m and then looked awfully hard to beat last start in a C1 1300. Was backed confidently from $3.50 into $2.60 and never looked like being beaten at any stage when romping home to a 2L win in a ridiculously fast time, 6L quicker than Class average. Out to 1600m (has placed over a mile at Albany) and if he holds form he should be hard to beat again. PRIVATE SAPLING was responsible for that tempo in the early and middle stages. Gets 1.5kg to try and turn the tables. STREET MASCHINO ran third in the same race. BERTA broke through last start and should get ground. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – HIDE THE OREOS WIN RACE 6 LETS SEA has won two races in Broome this season – both from barrier 1 – and for a midfield type that’s a rarity. Usually in Broome horses who get crossed from the inside are near impossible so he’s clearly relishing the conditions. Think he can turn the tables on Artie’s Comet with even luck. ARTIE’S COMET won at his first start on the dirt and as a horse who has placed over 1900/2000m in Albany you’d think he’ll be hard to beat again. HEAR MY PRAYER has been building towards his first dirt win all season. FLOAT OUR BOAT will give cheek again. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – LETS SEA WIN RACE 7 ROEY CLAM bolted in two races at Carnarvon last season over 1600m and looked a Cups contender before he headed to Marble Bar and Port Hedland and seemingly came to the end of his campaign. This time around they’ve kept him in Broome and he’s flying. The fact he’s won over 1200m shows just how well he’s going and he’s even better suited at 1400. RED REBEL will hold the top and be in front for a long way. Big danger. MR CONFIDENTIAL has been ridden perfectly his last two by Kristo Sardelic. He’s tough. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY comes on quickly second-up on the dirt. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROEY CLAM WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,9 1,2 1,2,3 2,5,8 Market Market
