Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 11, 2024July 11, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ARNIE’S BOY is your classic Belmont Park, middle of winter, rain affected track type of Westspeed Miler. He’s always eachway in betting and while he can be a bit hard to catch he’s always there abouts. Chased hard behind My Hidden Universe over 1300m last start and should enjoy a soft run close handy to the speed. One of many chances. CRUISE TO VICTORY produced his first Grant & Alana Williams win last start and demolished his C5 opposition. Out to a mile for the first time in his life but looks a new horse for the new stable. EMERALD TRADER races well a month between runs and is drawn a gate. PRAY AGAIN is Pray Again. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ARNIE’S BOY EACHWAY RACE 2 THE TOP BAR returned to racing really well at Pinjarra first-up when running into what looks like a sharp galloper in Mohegan Ruler in a 1200m 2 year old event where they’ve stopped the clock 9L faster than average. Looks like he can roll to the top again here and if he can take natural fitness improvement first-up to second-up then he looks to have found a very winnable Saturday Plate. No stars in this. NOAHQUINTILLY didn’t seem to run out 1400m two starts back but you have to respect her off the gritty performance to hold off Elite Missile last start. CASH FLOW is jumping from 1000 to 1400 in 7 days but the fresh run was encouraging. SHOOT TO FAME continues to attack the line. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – THE TOP BAR WIN RACE 3 INSYDE SUCCESS has won both of his races first-up and trialled really well recently at Belmont Park for Paul Harvey. Plenty of speed in this race but from barrier 1 he can either kick through or hand-up and looks to have both natural ability and some versatility to his racing. Like the horse. SONOFTHEBOSS is drawn inside both Prospector’s Pick and King Cartel which should allow Brayden Gaerth to get across in front of them early and then assess his options. PROSPECTOR’S PICK comes back from 1400 to 1200m and considering he skipped clear on straightening last start before being swamped late that might be a good thing. JUSTABITTAPRESS has had every chance his last two. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – INSYDE SUCCESS EACHWAY RACE 4 TRIPLE JAY steps out to 1400m for the first time but looks to be afforded a scenario where he can jump, lead, control and then kick hard into the corner. Brad Parnham is a very good front running rider and in a race without a great deal of speed or pressure expect that he’s able to rate the race to suit himself. TOO DARDY was the run of the race of the beaten brigade in their recent 1200m encounter. His late splits were elite and gave the indication he’d get out over further. YONGA LASS split that pair in the same race and she can hold up much closer from a more favourable alley. SAPPHIRE STREET has a senior back on. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – TRIPLE JAY WIN RACE 5 OBJECTIFY was a complete forgive last start. She got shuffled back in the early stages as the field strung out and then got caught up behind tiring runners who were not taking her into the race before being held up in the home straight. Forgive, forget, follow and trust that Brad Parnham can find the right back to follow here. BERBERE is now second-up at 1400m after being scratched behind the gates and heading back to trials. Is a previous winner off 42 days and his first-up run was super. Big respect. ABLOH is bursting to win a race. DOCTOR JAY was plunged in betting last start and ran well in defeat. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – OBJECTIFY WIN RACE 6 SENTIMENTAL HERO and PLAYHOUSE PATRON are both last start winners who now have apprentices going on. Going to stick with SENTIMENTAL HERO who bolted in second-up over a mile and simply loves both Belmont Park and a rain affected track. Should get the right run midfield with cover. PLAYHOUSE PATRON has come back bigger and better this campaign. Luke Campbell kicked home a treble Wednesday and is full of confidence. FALCON TRADER has blinkers on for the first time, backs up off 7 days and comes back in distance to 1600. Plenty to like about those three elements of his profile. CLASSIC ROGUE has been going really well and now has Paul Harvey on. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL HERO EACHWAY RACE 7 KING’S HONOUR went around $5.50 in a 72+ last week and will likely go around a similar price a week later in a 60+ Graduation. Deep into a campaign but Jarrad Noske goes back on and he should zip across into a prominent spot over the speed. Love to see him ridden aggressively. CAPRE OMNIA is a last start track/distance/grade winner and is a proven weight carrier (won at Kyneton with 61.5kg in December 2023). Maps to get a similar run in transit and see no reason why he can’t win again? INVINCIBLE RUBY was eye-catching fresh. SALT LAKE SHAKE was never asked for an effort at trials. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – KING’S HONOUR EACHWAY RACE 8 MAN CRUSH matched motors with Snowdome at WFA over 1000m at Ascot back in November in the Prince of Wales Stakes. In that event he beat Nerodio by 2.4L and meets him 4.5kg better here in handicap conditions. He’s a high speed, high pressure animal and think he can look to tow ball Bayezid and take full advantage of the fact the majority of key rivals in this race are backmarkers. GHOST WHO WALKS is looking to retain his Beaufine Stakes title having won the race in 2023. Loved his trial without blinkers and gets the wet track he wants. MINSK MOMENT has never raced over 1000m in his life, however, he has won all three 950m barrier trials this preparation in effortless fashion. Big watch. NERODIO is rising 9 years old but he’s a Belmont 1000m specialist – 7 starts, 6 wins. Says its all. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAN CRUSH WIN Same Race Multi – Man Crush (Top 3) + Ghost Who Walks (Top 4) High speed 1000m feature with Bayzid, Man Crush and Puli likely to run them along over the short course and stretch them out in the middle stages. Man Crush loves high pressure racing and can park just behind Bayezid and present on straightening. Ghost Who Walks is looking to go back to back having won in 2023 and trialled super without blinkers. RACE 9 ANGEL UNDERCOVER is a sharp filly resuming. Comes through the same trial as first-up winning stablemate Siberian Siren and was held up on straightening before attacking the line hard. This looks like excellent placement for a 3 year old Handicap winner and think she can go through her grades this time in. SUNNY HONEY is a forgotten horse. First-up last preparation he ran a luckless fourth behind Esprit Garcon and he seems to go best at Belmont Park. Keep safe at odds. BOOTS LIKE BRUCE will look to kick through and lead from barrier 1 and then who knows where he’ll end up late! DUCHESS OF GOSSIP comes through the Triple Jay/Too Dardy/Yonga Lass race which likely holds up in Race 4. Numbers: 15 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ANGEL UNDERCOVER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,4,5,6,13 1,3,8 1,2,3,4 1,2,4,8,15 Market Market
