Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 17, 2020September 21, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BRAVE DREAM is clearly the one they have to beat but also is some level of risk from the draw. Likely settles last in the run and being Cerise and White likely opens even money but the trial was excellent and she could well be a class above these. MY HIDDEN JOURNEY has been in a consistent vein of form for months. Was 6 weeks between runs last start and still finished off well. Likely settles back with Brave Dream and expect that she’ll outsprint him. ZINGANO could lead them up and get it cheap. BALDERDASH gets the right run. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – BRAVE DREAM WIN RACE 2 DOM TO SHOOT looks very well placed to notch another win on his way to the Ascot Summer Carnival. Very rarely as a C2 can you take on maiden opposition in a race and while he has to carry 5.5kg more than any of his rivals he looks a class above. Ran well first-up and should only be getting better into the preparation. INDIGO BLUE looks the logical danger after being very stiff on debut. Was held up and raced greenly before flashing late. PRECAUTIONARY gets 6.5kg on Dom to Shoot from their WA Sires encounter. LIFE FOR A LIFE looks jump and run. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – DOM TO SHOOT WIN RACE 3 TAJMALI goes extremely well fresh having won first-up no trial in her last two preparations. Returns to the races here after 3 months off and she is drawn to lead or box seat. Chris Graham is thrown a brilliant opportunity to break back into the winner’s circle and end a lean few months. Carried weight successfully in the past and should give a big sight. ANGRY ANNIE looks destined on paper to sit three deep the trip but horses seem to love it out wide with Madi Derrick on. Angry Annie is a talented mare and knows how to win. CARABINIER trialled like a beast on Monday behind Red Can Man. Could be in for a big prep. ABBY LANE is becoming a little frustrating to follow. Showing glimpses but racing without luck. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – TAJMALI EACHWAY RACE 4 EEYORE WAYZ ended up in a very awkward position last start when sent out an even money elect over 1200. Comes back to 1000m where he was so impressive first-up and second-up and with Chris Parnham taking the ride and an ideal barrier he can bounce back to winning form. WEAPONSON will be looking to sit in the breeze outside Just a Fluke and with the engagement of Kristy Bennett gets 5kg on Eeyore Wayz from their last meeting. SPECIAL CHOICE maps to get it soft three back the fence and her 3 year old sprint form was super only 12 months ago. RIVER BEAU had a breakout preparation when last in work but the map looks horrible for him. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – EEYORE WAYZ WIN RACE 5 LAST OF THE LINE was a brilliant winner in two of his three career starts as a 3 year old. He returns off the back of a quiet yet highly impressive trial effort and maps to sit leaders back stalking Peppijack who will take him into the race. With even luck in the home straight he should be able to bully his way into the clear and prove too powerful. Worth following. APPROACH is unstoppable at the moment. Purchased for $3000 as an off cast destined for Port Hedland but now looks a big chance of banking his new owners a further 30k. PEPPIJACK has hit form and leads them up. NATIVE CHIMES has hit a purple patch albeit in weak midweek racing. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – LAST OF THE LINE WIN RACE 6 INSPIRATIONAL GIRL arguably should be 7 from 7 undefeated. Her only bridesmaid performance came at the hands of Driftstar (legit) when she flew home from an impossible position in one of the runs of the season at Ascot. Since then she has continued her way aggressively through the grades and last time out gave Massimo windburn. This is one of her toughest tests to date but she has the firepower to overcome a sticky draw. PATRISTIC was beaten 0.7L by Inspirational Girl at Ascot back in February and gets a 7kg weight swing in his favour here. Kristy Bennett has ridden him to four of his six career wins and if he finds the top, he’ll take running down. WESTERN PRIDE was undefeated until her last outing when she was clearly not right. Super trial and drawn soft. ZERO DEMERITS in white hot form. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL WIN RACE 7 MONEY MATTERS has had to dig deep to win his last two over 1000m but looks even better suited at 1200m. Stakes winning 3-year-old over 1400m and 1600m so you would expect that Johnston-Porter will ride him like the best horse in the race and park in the breeze outside Cliffs of Comfort. Weight is starting to catch up with him but he oozes class. CELEBRITY QUEEN gets in on the minimum, draws a gate to do absolutely no work three back the fence and has an electric turn of acceleration. She doesn’t have the same runs on the board as Money Matters but looks top quality. CLIFFS OF COMFORT is a different horse at 1200 and a different horse when finding the fence. HIGHLAND BEAT hard to knock on what he has produced in WA. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – MONEY MATTERS WIN RACE 8 OCEAN’S FIFTEEN has always shown a well above average level of ability and hopefully is starting to put it all together. Closed off extremely well behind Brooklyn Pier in a fast run 1000m Belmont trial recently and with the important early scratching of main danger Manhattan Money really does look to have this race at his mercy. Clearly a better horse chasing and he gets his chance to settle midfield here and launch. MORE ACES gets a rare opportunity in this grade to lead. DANNY GEORGE has super race form but an awkward map. BAD WOLF didn’t get a race run to suit last time out. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – OCEAN’S FIFTEEN WIN RACE 9 BONNEVILLE BLACK has really turned a corner and thrived since Madi Derrick jumped aboard. He is racing right over the top of the speed and while Fred Kersley is utilizing the 3kg claim the handicapper can’t keep up. Only concedes 1.5kg to Gunnago from his last start victory by over 2L. Looks perfectly placed to win again. GUNNAGO is knocking on the door and maps to get a soft midfield run. Always hard to concede weight and a head start to a stayer in form like Bonneville Black. DOUBLE DIGIT should nearly settle alongside Gunnago and they’ll make their runs together. SUGAR CAIN holds form once she finds it. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – BONNEVILLE BLACK WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,7 2,7,8 2,4,7 2,3,6 Market Market
