Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 5, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 ZEPHYR QUEEN posted a career best figure last start winning over 1200m in a race run 5.5L above benchmark. She looks even better suited at 1400m and should roll straight to the top. The faster the better for her as she looks to run rivals off their feet. BLACK DUCATI is undefeated after two starts and should stalk her the entire trip. Impressive mare who is still learning. DIVINE SHADOW should get a soft run three back the fence. DAWN ARMADA lobs at a new stable and won well two starts ago. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZEPHYR QUEEN WIN Race 2 NERODIO ran a big race on debut when fourth beaten 2L behind subsequent winners Shuwish, Firesale and Blackfury. Tipped out after running third in March and has returned with two nice trial performances with the shades removed. Trialed alongside Wednesday winner Bobcat Johnnie and really caught the eye at his most recent. Should get in midfield, hard to hold out. DRAGONFLIES comes from 1000m straight races at Pinjarra. Expecting Lee Newman to come out running and look to cross. JOVELLA looked the winner last week before being nailed on the line. ALIEN FROM MARS has ability and draws soft. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – NERODIO WIN Race 3 SOME SORT should bounce straight to the front for Jade McNaught and give cheek. Made impressive Peters filly Celebrity Queen work for the midweek victory and can go close again here. BRAVE DREAM is undefeated at trials and looks to have a motor. Will get out over much further than this but capable of winning on debut. RIO DEL MAR trialed very impressively and should enjoy a nice run midfield. SPECIALISM almost lost the rider out of the gates fresh and ran a big race all things considered. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SOME SORT WIN Race 4 PEARL TRADE gets a wonderful opportunity to post another win in a very weak Saturday race. The scratching of Lofty Lad hurts because she needs speed on in her races to settle but if she can reproduce her effort when third to Festival Miss and Cryptic Love she can sprint past these. SIR MAMBO is bursting to win another race and actually posted a career best rating last start in defeat behind Zephyr Queen. HARRY THOMAS has shades added and should sit over the speed, if not lead. SPIRIT AND FIRE is mixing his form but his best is good enough. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – PEARL TRADE WIN Race 5 SPIRITUAL WARRIOR keeps on improving in the care of Justin Warwick. His last start on-pace effort was impressive and Noir De Rue came out of that race and knocked off a luckless Zaratite. Should lead without pressure and from there it’s his to lose. NO SAY IN IT has been racing well in tougher races than this. He looks the big danger on paper. AT THE READY looks like he is just peaking and back on top of the ground is a huge positive for him. MR ALBY next best. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPIRITUAL WARRIOR WIN Race 6 AMELIA’S ON FIRE is a young 3 year old filly taking on the older horses but she looks to have a far higher ability ceiling than anything she meets here. Should come out running and sit in the breeze outside of Ay Tee Emm and based on her trial should salute. SHINJU looks the logical danger. He loomed at 1200 last start but didn’t level out. Previous win over 1000m was strong. FORK HANDLES trialed well and his form when last in work was excellent. GUNS OF NAVARONE was stiff not to finish closer first-up when held up at crucial stages. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S ON FIRE WIN Race 7 IN LOVE WITH PARIS backs up off 7 days, drops from a 70+ back to a 64+ and his previous efforts in 76+ grade behind Multiverse, Abdicator, Taxagano, Chix Pic and Free Trade read up excellently for a race like this. McNaught takes 2kg off and she is riding as well as anyone at the minute. CRYPTIC LOVE draws poorly but last three runs have all been super in their own unique ways. JEDAFFAIR returns to the races after a big 3 year old summer carnival. Her trials suggest she could have come back even better. REGAL COUNSEL is in form and hard to fault. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – IN LOVE WITH PARIS WIN Race 8 CUP NIGHT looks like he will continue on his merry way through the grades. Was undefeated 3 from 3 last preparation at Ascot and his recent trial win was emphatic. He looks suited in a fast run race from midfield and should stamp himself as a summer carnival contender. LITTLE FISH is drawn wide and has four speedsters drawn underneath him. Has won from off the speed previously but will need to be good to win this. COUNT TOMOZ OFF and WAR GOD worth inclusion to novelties at a price. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – CUP NIGHT WIN Race 9 BOLD SUCCESS has put the writing on the wall at his last two starts. Three deep the trip no cover in two fast run races he now has a senior rider engaged and draws to get the run of the race. MISTY LAD should get a nice run behind Beaucount similar to last start. BEAUCOUNT is always a chance in this grade between 1600 and 2200m. ASTRONOMITE is getting very close but simply can’t draw a gate. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – BOLD SUCCESS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,10 1,5,6,9 5 3,6,7,8,9,12 Market Market
