Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 27, 2025February 27, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GINGER MORPHEUS only won a Bunbury maiden last start but it couldn’t have been any more impressive. He shot clear on straightening and put an extending 3L margin on them. Straight into a 3 year old Saturday would normally be a massive step up, but this is as weak as we’ve seen in recent months. Great chance to take the step. BLUE ROCKET was scratched from a winnable race on Wednesday to save for this. She’s a sharp filly and her recent trial was excellent. KEEP ITA MYSTERY ran second to Want A Winner this track/distance/grade fresh. He’s a live chance. KAY TEE WHY a watch. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GINGER MORPHEUS WIN RACE 2 PEMBETON finished 2.7L off stablemate Strideaway on debut and then backed it up with a solid fourth behind Talkanco and Strideaway at his second outing. He has been spelled, he has trialled well at Belmont over 1000m and was left as E1 in the Magic Millions a fortnight ago. 1000m no doubt short of his best trip, but this does look winnable still. MEMPHIS MINX went to the line locked together with Split The Gee in their trial and they got 3L away from the rest. SPLIT THE GEE was fully tested in that trial (and some). JEWEL OF ZAVALA may get a fair way back. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 12 – 9 Suggested Bet – PEMBETON WIN RACE 3 CAPTAIN PLUTO couldn’t have been any more impressive at his return to racing. He won in a similar vein first-up last campaign at Belmont Park and then ran a string of frustrating minor placings, so fingers crossed it isn’t the same case here, because he looks in for a big preparation. Could be a Bunbury/Pinjarra Cups horse? MEMORY PARADE jumped out of the ground late last week and on the 7 day spin drops to the 54kg limit. MISSILE STORM has come back bigger and better this prep. ZEPHYRA was really good fresh. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN PLUTO WIN RACE 4 COVERT ROSE was solid first-up with 60kg and in a race without much speed can be sent to the top to control. She won back to back provincial races last campaign by dictating terms on speed and this race looks like it could be gifted to her on paper. PLAYING AROUND only won a 1400m maiden at Bunbury fresh and the horses he beat (Delicate Warrior & Swindle The Dough) are hardly form references that jump off the page, so you’re taking him on trust that he can continue to raise the bar. HERE FOR CHEQUES turned it up last week. Has the ability but clearly a few tricks! STYLISH LORD is bursting to win a race. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – COVERT ROSE EACHWAY RACE 5 TERRATIF should be winning here. She trialled soft down the 1000m straight and was a moral beat first-up when flashing at King Adviso out of nowhere after being held up a good portion of the straight. Yes, there was some relativity to it – he was stopping as fast as she was finishing, but off that return you just have to follow her into this assignment. WAR GEM trialled well but was bitterly disappointing first-up when failing to beat one home. FAMOUS JURNEY is as honest as they come. Just vulnerable late. MYSTIC JANE gets a soft run. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TERRATIF WIN RACE 6 MAGIC WHISTLE is racing in career best form and clearly thriving in the care of Misty Bazeley. Straight to the top in a race without any real speed and pressure and from there controls proceedings at an eachway quote. BOLD HERO had nothing go his way last start. From the 1000m onwards he was held up behind a wall of tiring horses and by the time he had any room the winner (and placegetters) were miles in front of him with a full head of steam. WEERAECHOUX looks ready to run a big race. STARATING will appreciate getting Pike on her back. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WHISTLE EACHWAY RACE 7 TWAIN’S ANGEL is a lock at SWP. She’s the highest rated mare in the race with 56.5kg on her back and only two starts ago won the Scenic Blast Stakes beating Man Crush and Norich. She suffered defeat in the Cyril Flower Stakes but considering Snowdome has since come out to win the Pinjarra Classic it’s the best form in the race and she’s weighted to win. GENEROSITY could not have trialled up any better. The phrase ‘breathing fire’ is bantered around racing circles a lot – that trial was it. RISSOLES isn’t suited under SWP but is fit and firing. ANGEL UNDERCOVER is going super. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – TWAIN’S ANGEL WIN Same Race Multi – Twain’s Angel (Top 2) + Generosity (Top 2) Happy to play the Marjorie Charleson Classic aggressive and lock in Twain’s Angel and Generosity both to run Top 2 (creating a fixed odds Quinella). They’re the top two rated mares and the best served under the Set Weights and Penalties conditions of the race. On weights they should be too sharp for their rival mares. RACE 8 PERFECT CHANT just needs to overcome the tricky barrier. She’s a versatile filly – won on debut leading, big in the 3 year old Magic Millions from off the speed. Trusting in Chris Parnham to make the right tactical decision in regards to forward or backward early because I’m confident she’s the best horse in the race and only has 55kg. OUR MATE ARCHIE gets his old mate William Pike back in the saddle and has been close to breaking through for a deserving Saturday victory. NICELY PLAYED tests the waters at 1200m. HYMNS OF ELLADAIR won soft at Bunbury first-up. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet – PERFECT CHANT WIN RACE 9 SHMOOV MOOVA was enormous in the 3 year old Magic Millions at Pinjarra. He settled in a different postcode to London’s Image and then tracked widest (apart from her) in the home straight and rattled home into fourth in blistering closing sections. Steps to 1400m, drawn ideally in barrier 6, gets in on the 55kg minimum of the race and looks a really classy conveyance. HOSTILE TALK is well placed back in grade and can’t be faulted on recent form. GI GI POPS will march her way across the face of the field and ensure a genuine tempo. SECRET ATTRACTION can wind up three deep cover. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHMOOV MOOVA WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,5,9 1,3 2,11 11 Market Market
