Scott Embry’s Friday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 24, 2024December 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AGRABAH is a 20 start maiden, but on paper should be a 21 start C1 galloper. He’s put the writing on the wall since heading to Steph Bakranich and she now scratches him from Bunbury on Sunday to save for this race at Geraldton on the Friday. 2000m maiden form at Pinjarra is easily good enough and Troy Turner the cherry on top. WASN’T ME and IL BELLO BEALS are both tough on speed types who can whack away on the speed. ROYALE MUCK UP seemed to appreciate the extra ground last start at Pinjarra. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – AGRABAH WIN RACE 2 FIRE THE GUARD gets one final chance, then he’s done forever. Matched motors with Cash Flow in a maiden here at Geraldton two back and then finished third at Albany behind Stormy’s Show (races Boxing Day). This is a really thin race but he’s not exactly tough. SUMMER MOOD is also drawn wide and now heads to Malcolm Mackenzie who has been doing a great job in Geraldton all season. ARTERRE hasn’t had much room to move in the home straight so far this prep but is going well. RULENT a watch fresh. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – FIRE THE GUARD WIN RACE 3 LIVE LUCKY was backed as if unbeatable at her first start for new trainer Gordon Spowart and never looked like being beaten. She ambled past a horse of the Pearces’ that there’s an opinion of. This is a deep C2 but she’ll be winning plenty off that effort. ON THE MARK is still doing a lot wrong. Hopefully a nose roll helps him because ability wise he’s got 90% of the region covered. GOLD KEEPER finished third in a C3 at Bunbury last start and you’d have to say this is a drop in grade for him from an ideal draw. BOLTA brings X-Factor. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – LIVE LUCKY WIN RACE 4 THE RUSH has won two races this season from 6 outings at the GTC and this looks another really winnable race of her. She carried 61kg three starts back and was still coming late behind Dadirra so no issues with the weight and she’s run a minor placing at 1600m for Justine Erkelens back in her Perth days. Right set up for her. CHEYNE BAY is really (really) well placed by Adam Durrant dropping out of a 3 year old 1400 on a Saturday. He’s got lengths more upside than his opponents. MOMBASA went around $1.70 last start but never really looked likely. Maybe back in trip helps? DESERT EDGE still needs further. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE RUSH WIN RACE 5 QUEEN NARDI protest against Becalotti last start at Albany unsuccessfully but watching the replay if she went straight she would most likely have run past her. Since run second to Santa Brae in town and this looks a great race for her. BECALOTTI has won her last two at 1900m which has been a huge training performance by Tiarnna Noske but now she has to go to 2100m for the first time and loses Jarrad Noske. Enough queries to take a cautious approach with her. HARD QUESTIONS was a hard watch last start. BAD WOLF should be improving in this. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – QUEEN NARDI WIN RACE 6 I’M ON was a blackbook effort at her return to racing for Ron Cowl (Jnr) and then remained at 1200m last start when held up at crucial stages. Been waiting for her to get to 1400m and we get exactly that here. The barrier hurts but if Troy Turner finds the right back to follow she can wind up over these. SPARKLE CORNER has been there abouts all preparation and has enough speed to overcome his similarly poor barrier. MONTY ZOOMER will win races because of his positive racing pattern. DAIYAMONDO has found her feet and was unlucky not to win last start in a tight finish. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – I’M ON WIN RACE 7 STARRING KNIGHT sprint away from them impressively last start to put a 2L margin on them. From the draw he’ll get a similar run and is more than capable of producing an identical result. Looks the mapped horse. SNIPPY WHICH was dominating Geraldton and then was backed into favourite in a 66+ at Ascot last start when only run down in the final strides. He’s very hard to beat if they allow him to cross. FALSE STATEMENT was always going to love Esperance’s outside fence zones. SURE NO SOMETHING is back to his best. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – STARRING KNIGHT WIN Market Market
