NBL – Sydney Kings v Illawarra Hawks

Saturday January 9, 4.30 PM, Sydney Olympic Park

The Kings and Illawarra in the NSW Derby and this could be a thriller on Saturday NBL.

Game rating – Sydney 91 Illawarra 98

The NSW Derby has Illawarra leading the series 3-0 but this could be a lot closer than previous encounters.  The Hawks won Game 1 in Sydney 86-100, Game 2 in Illawarra 96-90 and Game 3 in Illawarra 102-83.  Guess what game Josh Childress played in?  Game 2 when he scored 20 points and with their new coach Joe Connelly barking instructions from the floor, don’t be surprised if this is not another thriller to go with the Hawks one point loss to United on Thursday night.

Prediction

The Kings are coming off a home court win against the inform Taipans (87-77) and there is no doubt they are playing their best basketball of the season.  With Josh Childress leading the way the Kings have added 7 ft 1 “ local Jordan Vandenberg to the side to replace the injured Julian Khazzouh and he will suit up on Saturday night.  Penney and Lisch will attempt to control this game from outside the arc for the Hawks and the Kings will need Jason Cadee to continue his hot form from three point land.  One thing for sure the Total Match OVER looks a safe bet.
