Michael Heaton’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 13, 2019June 14, 2019 | Posted by Michael Heaton Michael Heaton’s Preview Race 1 JEBEDIAH has had a few chances now but his first-up run suggests he’s returned in good order and he should be able to take advantage of his track experience here. RETURN handled her first attempt on the dirt without issue and should be able to work across from her awkward draw to give a big sight. SAXON PRINCESS has shown good ability on the grass and can lead this field on her ear if she wishes but there’s always a query on their first run on dirt. JOKER POKER is a 19-start maiden but has ran some decent races in her career. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – JEBEDIAH WIN Race 2 A GOOD PLAN is a Broome specialist and won with authority first-up a fortnight ago. Hard to see anything being able to turn the tables on him. Stablemate CHIN STRAP makes his return and enjoyed a terrific campaign on the pearl coast two preparations ago. He also ran some nice races in town in his next prep and can make his presence felt here. MEGAFACTORY will be suited by the extra 100m here and is always thereabouts, while FERNGROVE comes from the same race as A GOOD PLAN and MEGAFACTORY and meets them 5kg and 2.5kg better respectively. Numbers: 2 – 4– 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – A GOOD PLAN WIN Race 3 CORPORATE STRATEGY is simply a dirt horse and could easily progress through the ranks to be a Broome Sprint horse come seasons end. He can get his preparation off to a winning account here and hand trainer Jake Casey another winner on the card. DESERT THORN races second-up and is better suited with the drop in grade. CAPE SOUNION hit the line quite well first-up, has the addition of blinkers here and the extra 200m suits. WELL SPOKEN MAN was only fair first-up but drops 3kg here and should take natural improvement. Numbers: 2– 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CORPORATE STRATEGY WIN Race 4 FLASH OF THUNDER is a new stable addition for trainer Rob Gulberti and there were big wraps on him in the city early doors. He now finds himself in a Broome Class 1 48+ and can kick Peter “the King of Broome” Hall’s season off to a flier at his first ride. BRINGON THE VEUVE hit the line well in his first start at the track and should continue to improve. SONG OF VINCENT is another who has shown Metropolitan ability in the past and looks suited in this company. FUTURIST ran okay a fortnight ago and the 100m drop in distance suits. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FLASH OF THUNDER WIN Race 5 JELANI EXPRESS absolutely bolted in over this distance in what was his first start on the dirt last time out. He has the speed to roll forward from his wide draw, keep out of trouble and prove hard to beat again. Cult figure ATACAMA SKY hasn’t won a race for 903 days and is a professional milk drinker but maybe Broome can bring the best out of him. SPHINX SECRETS showed enough in the city to suggest he can make a handy Broome horse, while PARTY NIGHT made a promising track debut a fortnight ago but struggles to go a yard further than 1000m. Numbers: 4– 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – JELANI EXPRESS WIN Race 6 MY TRADITION gets a slight pull in the weights against IN THE BAG from their last-start encounter but, more importantly, P Hall jumps aboard. He looks ideally suited by the step-up in distance second-up and should go close with some luck from his wide alley. FLAT BICCY comes from the same race, meets IN THE BAG 3.5kg better and is also favoured by the extra 135m. IN THE BAG made a successful Broome debut a fortnight ago but is a query at 1435m with 61kg. STAR OF VEGAS resumes and may end up in the Broome Cup come the end of the season. Numbers: 8 – 2 –1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MY TRADITION WIN Race 7 AMALIEMOO handled the track without issue when a close second a fortnight ago and can go one better here. METALLIC BELLE rises sharply in distance but should make a good Broome horse this season. POETS PRINCE couldn’t have done much more in his first-up win but has placed just once from seven attempts second-up previously. SHIBUYA CROSSING should continue to improve as the distances increase. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – AMALIEMOO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,4 1,2,4,8 1,2,4,6 Market Market
