Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on September 16, 2025September 16, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 SHES MY LITTLE GEM (1) trialled up nicely for this and debuts in the west from the perfect draw, looks a suitable race and she will be hard to beat. SUGAR BOO (11) gets in well now with the scratching and should be close to the speed, winning chance if the run does come, strong place claims though. CHERRY ON THE CAKE (12) has options from the draw but has good closing speed and should be featuring in the money. PHILTHEJUG (6) and CARA DIANA (7) both racing soundly and can be driven forward and be in the novelties. Tips: 1 11 12 6 Suggested Bet: SUGAR BOO (11) to place. Race 2 RUMBLE STRIP (8) belted his rivals into submission last run with a gutsy win at Pinjarra, he looks to have gained a heap of respect off that and should come here and get the job done again. FULL SWING DENARIO (9) is a horse that I have a lot of time for, he returns from a wide gate and may need the run but is versatile and expect him to be getting home well. CAPTAINS CREEK (3) returns and is nicely drawn; he can run good times and must be respected. IT IS CRUNCH TIME (2) has drawn well, he won a chaotic race last time out and this race looks a rise in grade. LOU LAMOUR (5) has the speed to lead but was disappointing last time out. WHEN IN VEGAS (7) going well enough but faces an awkward draw. MYSTA MOON WALKER (4) and PINJARRA ROCKS (6) both racing well enough but looks challenging map wise. Tips: 8 9 3 2 Suggested Bet: RUMBLE STRIP (8) to win. Race 3 MIKI WINDERMERE (9) was a good win last time out, the race was run to suit, but he kept finding when he needed, should be benefitted by that first up run and like last run there could be a bit going on for the top, expect him to go close. ROSE OF CLARE (7) faces a tricky task, but she has strings to her bow and should be right in the money. BACK ON LINE (8) is fitter for the freshen up run, he can improve sharply in this, but the draw hurts him again. THE WAND WAVER (5) was super in defeat last time out, they will be looking for the top again. WATCH ME WAVE (6) is consistent but faces a tricky draw. CHIEF COPY (10) one that can be included in the novelties. Tips: 9 7 8 5 Suggested Bet: MIKI WINDERMERE (9) to win. Race 4 OPAL HUNTER (8) returns and has an abundance of ability, the draw is not advantageous, but he can watch things unfold and I think on ability alone he should get the job done here, very hard to hold out. SUGAR STREET (11) can watch things unfold and then close off strongly, he has plenty of high speed to bring him into it late. SOUND WAVE (9) is racing consistently but needs a few things to go his way from the draw. MIDDLEPAGE (7) can do work in his races and performs better when he is on speed. ROCKIN LE MONDE (2), OUR VINNIE (3), ALFA PRINCE (4) and THOMSON BAY (5) may all have the want to lead this which could create a decent lead time and detract from their finishing runs. LIL HAPPY FELLA (10) racing well but just needs luck. Tips: 8 11 9 7 Suggested Bet: OPAL HUNTER (8) to win. Race 5 ALWAYSBFRANK (1) looks to drop in grade just a touch and moves down to a smaller track which in turn should help him lead and go very close, his form has been good and deserves a win. SIDSTREPO (4) and MAJOR MANHATTAN (5) both racing well, their draws suggest they may have to both go forward and be close to the speed. MAJOR CLASS (10) drawn to get a soft run with AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS (11) likely to follow down to the pegs. GETN WIGGY WITHIT (9) has been racing without much luck but hard to suggest anything changing from the draw tonight. Tips: 1 4 5 10 Suggested Bet: ALWAYSBFRANK (1) to win. Race 6 Open race. LUKE ATTACK (9) can be benefitted by some early tempo, and he has the depth to be put into the contest and from there expect him to go well. JOLTED CHARM (1) has the nice draw and seems to do her better racing on speed. JAMIE KIM (6) has the early speed to be handy and once again, becomes the major player if he could cross but that does look challenging. FIORD (7) has good closing speed and will be running on well. SIANGDI (5) was sound on WA debut and faces a tricky draw. I SEE FIRE (4) is a hard horse to follow as his mind tends to wander in some of his races, when he focusses, he can play a part. MADDY ROCKS (10) is going well enough, just needs some luck from the draw and BEACH CAPTAIN (8) drops in grade but the draw is a leveller. Tips: 9 1 6 7 Suggested Bet: LUKE ATTACK (9) each way. Race 7 DOWNBYTHEAVENUE (5) was brave in defeat last time out and is ready to break through, has the draw advantage over the main rivals in the race and looks hard to beat. LAZARUS STAR (9) has got plenty of early speed and has really come on this time in, only negative is he is coming in fresh. FILLMYPOCKET (6) is consistent and shouldn’t be too far away. THE KHUKRI (7) is fitter for the first up effort and can improve in this. MONTERIO (8) was a nice effort last run and should be included in your quaddie’s as his best is up to these. SHECANPLAY (3) a place chance from the draw. Tips: 5 9 6 7 Suggested Bet: DOWNBYTHEAVENUE (5) to win. Race 8 SOMETHING CERTAIN (4) is a horse with good ability but also is a horse who can throw it all away with one poor action in a race. He trialled up well recently at Bunbury and did everything right in a hotly contested affair and it’s a simple task to me, if he does everything right, he will win. MORE THAN HONOURED (7) comes in fresh and has ability, looks to be the main danger. DIVAS SPIRIT (8) was better last time out, draw hurts but should run well in this. MAPLE MAREE (2) and WAHINE TOA (9) have both shown improvement in their recent runs but are both coming off a freshen up, so they may need this. STAR OF THE GALAXY (5) and CAPPY THE FIREY (6) have been long time maidens. Tips: 4 7 8 2 Suggested Bet: SOMETHING CERTAIN (4) to win. Race 9 SHIMMERING (7) comes in with big wraps and looking at her only run in New Zealand it is hard to go past her to make it a winning debut, should win this quite comfortably. IN FULL FLIGHT (6) closed off well last time out and that closing speed could come into effect nicely from the draw. LIANAKA (4) has shown promise and must be respected. DIAMOND SUPREME (2) is well bred and nicely drawn. SHERICKA (5) was solid last time out but won’t get that same sweet run. Tips: 7 6 4 2 Suggested Bet: SHIMMERING (7) to win. Market Market
