Matt Young’s Saturday Bunbury Preview Posted on May 23, 2025May 23, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 HES NEVER BEEN BETA (5) was brilliant in defeat last time out, did a power of work and battled on strongly to just go under, this is a significant drop in grade and is versatile, looks the one to beat. GOODTIME LOUIS (4) showed good promise last time in and looms as a strong chance on return with the draw advantage. TA IN ADVANCE (2) and VELOCIPEDE (3) are both decent novelty chances, the latter has yet to recapture his better form but expecting improvement here. BACK ON LINE (6) find this grade tougher, good test for him. Novelty hope to FLYIN DISCO (8) who has come back well and can watch things unfold. Tips: 5 4 3 2 Suggested Bet: HES NEVER BEEN BETA (5) to win. Race 2 An open race to unfold here. CHARLI BROWN (11) returns and has shown promise; he has a tricky draw to overcome and looks to have upside but concern if he is too short. SNIPES MAGIC (7) wasn’t a bad effort on debut but goes from barrier 1 all the way out to barrier 7 tonight, looks a rolling type. BOOM IT UP (9) looked the winner when pacing roughly last time out, this draw could work out better for him and expecting him to power home well. OUR SERAPHINA (2) has had a few chances, looks more of a place chance with continued likely improvement from ATHREESHOTEAGLE (5) and CRUNCH THE NUMBERS (10). HEADLINE ADDA (12) creates interest on debut for Jocelyn Young. Tips: 9 11 7 2 Suggested Bet: BOOM IT UP (9) each way. Race 3 BEE KIND (1) trialled up well and has the perfect draw on debut, looks very hard to get past in this field. WELLOILED (8) won nicely last time out, wanted to hop and skip at a pivotal point in the race but with the draw can be placed. HURRICANEHOPE (9) had no luck last time out, most likely to dive to the rails and the field should open more tonight with a sprint lane in operation. WRITTENINTHESKY (7) debuts in the west but the draw is going to impact the chances. DOUSEEME (10) is improving and should run on nicely with DRIVE LINE (11) and CRETACEOUS (12), all have shown ability, but the draws have made things a lot trickier. Tips: 1 9 8 10 Suggested Bet: HURRICANEHOPE (9) to place. Race 4 Could be a genuine pace on in this which could open the race right up. SKIPPIN CLASS (10) is a horse I keep following and I think he will go around at a good price again and am happy to play him again each way at the bigger prices. Tempo could suit and he just needs some luck. AMARETTO ANGEL (8) has drawn to get a soft run on the peg line, the distance, class and draw suits her here, go well. LUCIENNE (1) is racing nicely, gate speed is okay, needs to settle no further back than behind the leader to be a winning chance for mine. SOUNDS LIKE FUN (4) will likely charge forward, unlikely to find the top but the tempo could be on. IMAHERO (5) returned well but this is an awkward draw and won’t be afforded the same luxuries. JORDANO (9) is an each way chance if the speed is on. BLOCKJORG (12) suited at the trip but not the draw. Tips: 10 8 1 9 Suggested Bet: SKIPPIN CLASS (10) each way. Race 5 Cracking race here. PETES HONOUR (1) was outstanding last time out and really holds the key to the race, has options from the draw and does rise in grade but they may flirt with the idea of trying to lead. ALTA TRIBUTE (4) will be pushing hard to the top and he will be the one to beat because he has a lot of strength. Strength personified is PENNY BLACK (6) who was a brave second to Gee Heza Sport in the Narrogin Cup, likely see this mare head forward to do the bullocking again. LUSAKA (7) will be suited by the bigger track and the tempo is likely to be on and will be flooding home strongly. SKYLOU (5) has come back well but is a touch awkward with the draw. IM THE BLACK FLASH (10) will be running on strongly. GULLY GUM (9) not the worst for the novelties. Tips: 7 4 6 1 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (7) each way. Race 6 FEELING ACES (9) gets down in grade and can return to his best here, should step safely off the back mark by his lonesome and looks hard to hold out with the depth of this field. BARBADOS (6) is a good staying type and the distance will suit, expecting a better performance from him here. DIAMOND WORLD (2) has ability but with her keen racing style I am concerned at her racing at the longer trip. BETTERTHAN SECRET (5) is racing soundly and will be running on strongly. MEGA MACH (4), DEE JAYS BIG BOY (3) and TEMPT THE STARS (8) are all novelty chances from the Hayden Reeves stable. Tips: 9 6 5 8 Suggested Bet: FEELING ACES (9) to win. Race 7 ISEEUBABY (3) could charge forward and potentially find the top in this, looks better suited in this grade and she can bounce back to her best. OCEANFRONT (2) looks likely to lead early, and they will likely take the conservative option and get the last crack. CAPTAINS CREEK (5) has improved and looks hardest to beat but may be in the breeze. WICKED HUSTLER (6) and CONTROL THE ROOM (7) are similar types from similar draws and will both require some luck. NOBLE THORONDOR (8) is a better horse than he is currently showing. Tips: 3 5 2 6 Suggested Bet: ISEEUBABY (3) to win. Market Market
